I love this place! And I almost reluctantly tell you about this perfect spot to stay in Lisbon. Madalena is warm, hospitable, and sincere. The rooms are lovely with fine cotton sheets, and a peaceful vibe. A delicious breakfast, and homemade cakes in the afternoon, make it feel like you are visiting your favourite cool cousin or aunt. The location is very central, and I could see the ocean from my balcony. Only thing to note is it can be a bit noisy in the street on hot summer weekend nights, but the tranquil garden, and relaxing vibe make it a minor matter. Highly recommend, I better book again now… enjoy!

In a sea of endless choices to stay through a variety of platforms it always brings pleasure when your decision turns out to be a flawless one. It's a rare pleasure to know you're in the right place the minute you walk through the front door. That starts with a warm welcome from Madalena or Joana. If you arrive early enough and the breakfast buffet is out you'll be drawn to the intoxicating smells of freshly baked bread and an amazing array of sweets, fruit and breakfast goodies. ||After spending some time in the hustle and flow of Lisbon if given the opportunity come back mid-day for the serenity and calmness of the back terrace. A small pool beckons with the allure of some coffee and a sampling of those sweets you convinced yourself not to have at breakfast.||Our room was tidy and neat and cleaned every day with care. The bed was super comfortable and the shower was perfect. ||The staff go above and beyond. When I realized I had lost my luggage tag, Madalena shared this very telling Portugese expression; “He who doesn't have a dog hunts with a cat." Which meant that with the nearby luggage store closed, she promised to make one for me. It turned out incredibly well. Every time I travel from now on, when I look at my tag I'll remember the kindness, warmth and hospitality that came from the team at Casa do Barão. Wonderful, wonderful people and place.

Had an amazing stay in Casa do Barao. It was such a unique place that it felt like I was staying in a home away from home. The rooms are beautifully furnished, to reflect the “old style” building. Loved the complimentary port and continental breakfast. Quiet and lush garden with the pool was incredibly peaceful in such a busy part of town. Great location as well - connected to everything really, and amazing restaurants close by. Highly recommend and will definitely stay here again.

We highly recommend this hotel. The building is beautiful, with comfortable and inviting common areas and a garden (with pool!) for lounging or breakfasting al fresco. And speaking of the breakfasts, it is delicious and quite extensive for continental. Do not miss the cakes prepared daily by the invaluable Angela and available all day! The hotel's location is perfect for exploring the center city; we walked everywhere. The staff could not be nicer or more helpful. It's largely a family operation and it shows, in all the good ways. Casa do Barao was the perfect place to return to each day.

A lovely hotel in central Lisbon. Friendly welcome and generous hosts. I had the best nights sleep in a hotel ever. Amazing for such a central location.! Breakfast was a delight in the petty garden. The cooling dip pool offered a much needed refresh and the complimentary port a lovly touch too. I will certainly be back and can't wait.

We had an excellent stay at Casa do Barão. Our room and the common areas were aesthetically decorated adding to the charm of our Portugal vacation. The staff was warm and helpful in assisting with planning trips in and around Lisbon. The breakfast as well as the daily variety of freshly baked cakes were an absolute treat. Despite being centrally located, sleep was not elusive to us as light sleepers. Look no further - this is the perfect location!

We stayed for 4 nights - beautiful boutique hotel in 18th (?) century building with garden and small pool. It didn’t feel like we were in the heart of a city as the hotel and garden were lovely and quiet. The surrounding area has loads of bars and restaurants and shops, and is near to all the main sites (metro and train station also nearby). All the usual amenities in the room. Very varied breakfast, and coffee and homemade cake available throughout the day, along with port in the evening. Such a lovely idea. Joana and Madalena were always on hand to answer any questions. Thank you also to Angela for her cakes (especially the spinach and mint one!). Would highly recommend.

Charming and quaint. Quiet and yet close to interesting shops, restaurants and the metro. Customer (make that guest) service was outstanding. Room was lovely, clean and quiet…loved the attached porch with views of the garden and neighborhood. Pastries and other delectables were so tasty! Very nice place and even better staff!
