I want to start with the good which was that the staff were incredibly nice and helpful. I had to make a call and my phone was giving me problems so on of the staff members let me use their cellphone. The room was very nice and spacious and I found the beds to be very comfortable. Plus our room had air conditioning which was a big plus. Now for the not so great. I guess for the price and considering it was listed as a 4 star hotel I expected shampoo and conditioner in the shower, good WiFi (it was good at times but got down to less than 5 mbps for uploads and downloads for several hours each day), and a better breakfast (there was only one fruit option and the only egg option was hard boiled eggs). The other drawback is that staff are only there from 8am to 9pm so if you need something when they aren’t there you are out of luck. From what I can tell there is no dedicated after hours number. Overall, I wouldn’t hate staying there again but I definitely would try to find other accommodations first.

This is a great location to stay. Close to tram stops and a range of good restaurants, a nice park and less than 10 minutes walk to a wonderful viewpoint of the city. Not the easiest walk from the tube and you do have to go up a spiral staircase to get to the first floor. There is a lift but we didn't try it,|Our bedroom "Arts" was big and airy with a separate bathroom with a good long, deep bath and double sink. It was very very clean. The bed was vast and comfy. It did look over the main road which can get noisy. |Breakfast was fine with a good range of dried goods, pastels de nata and boiled eggs.|The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful.|There is only one downside and that is there are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room or in the dining area. If this has been provided it would have been a five star rating.

We booked the historic room, but we were given the spacious palace suite for no additional charge. The suite was clean and comfortable, although it faces the busy road. ||The location is good, and it was easy to get around using a mix of walking and the metro. However, unless you are a keen hiker, do not approach the hotel from the Avenida metro stop. The route is a steep trek all the way. Get off at Rato on the yellow line, the route is far less steep. ||The bathroom is a chunk of space shaved off the suite behind the headboard. The wall is thin, so you will hear everything that your partner is doing.||Breakfast is adequate, but limited due to a lack of space. There are plenty of restaurants and coffee/brunch places in the area. The receptionists are helpful and friendly. Overall, a good experience, and we would recommend Casa Do Principe.

Looks nothing like the “hotel” on the images. Instead of a large/ spacious beautifully decorated room, our room was tiny, with a sticky smell and a retrospectively build bathroom (showering there means it’s getting hot in the actual room). They charge an unannounced 20euro “late check in fee” the … for what? That we use the room less than we pay for? Room in not great condition either with mold in the bathroom (see images). Breakfast very basic (with orange juice (fresh) being the highlight). Bed was comfy enough for one night sleep but room not well isolated, with noise from the street to be heard inside

This is a converted Palace. The hotel is central and near to everything. The room was clean and had everything you needed and was also huge. The staff are wonderful and very friendly. This is highly recommended.

Booked the hotel based on the beautifully staged photos of clean and classic room. Apparently the rooms don’t look like on the photos online, they are old and and stinky, the bathrooms are a joke. There is mold in the shower and the rest looks very old an dusty. Biggest issue, we arrived late at night, the hotel called us the same morning, asking for our our time of arrival and then said that we would ha e to pay 20€ late check-in fee, which was not mentioned at all on the website, booking terms or through the platform we booked (Hotel 2night). We told them that we will arrive at around 12pm, they called us 5x times and texted us between 11pm and 12:15 to ask when we arrive, really unprofessional. And the upon arrival, they even added a city tax to the late night fee which was actually included in the booking price. Also the breakfast is a curation of disgusting ham and cheese, bad bread and sugary convenience goods. Never going to stay again at this hotel, can really not recommend it to anyone.

Not 4 starts hotel for sure No kettle in the room Water goes to floor while taking a shower Asked for another hairdryer for 2 times , 2 were broken It’s in old building , conception is great but mold on the bathroom ceiling and peeling paint on the windows did not give me a good feeling and comfort Though service is wonderful, bed is clean No slippers ; take with you )

2-star AirBnB, not a 4 star hotel. We had a royal suite, which did look similar to the pictures, but a MUCH more run down. The rest of our experience unfortunately was sub par. Despite being billed as a 4 star hotel/bed and breakfast, the experience was much more similar to an AirBnB situated in an old home. There is a very simple small bathroom with a single shower, ours did not include a bathtub. There are none of the classic extras included with a hotel such as extra toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, etc. The bed is very firm and pillows very thin. My wife developed neck pain after sleeping in the bed for one night. The rooms have very poor noise isolation, and between the loud construction next door and the noise of other occupants, particularly during breakfast, it was a noisy stay and difficult to sleep in. We paid for a room with a balcony...the balcony is about 1 foot wide, and overlooks an ugly street, dumpsters, and active construction. Better to just keep the windows closed. The breakfast is also pretty poor. There is a small amount of fruit salad (only had melon for our stay) and some cold deli meat slices (bologne and cheese). There is a carafe of coffee, hot water, and milk. At least the orange juice tastes freshly squeezed. Really this place is a bare minimum stay with no amenties worth mentioning. For example, they have only two clothing irons and only one ironing board. We discovered this when my wife asked to use the iron...she was given an iron, but told that another guest has the ironing board, so she was instructed to just iron her clothes on the bed. One benefit is the location, which is nearby several restaurants and bus stops, as well as a botanical garden. The building itself does not have much direction as to where to go to sign in, so we had to wander a bit to make sure it was the correct location. Overall it was a very disappointing stay, especially because we expected a four star hotel. If your main goal is to stay in a royal appearing room, then I suppose it suffices. But if you have any expectations other than that, you will likely be disappointed.
