Ok this is NOT a 4 star hotel it’s 3 stars at best. Perhaps if you get a suite or something but the basic room which they gave me had the bathroom in the room itself with a part wall, no mirror by the sink, it was such a tiny room and the whole place has a musty smell. Breakfast was by far the most basic of the three hotels I stayed in my trip and one day I skipped it entirely. Room has no amenity even the shower has a 2in1 bottle of bottle wash that’s it.

Casa do Príncipe is a bed & breakfast option. Well situated in a great neighborhood. The park in front is a great spot with a permanent bar that allows to relax. A few walks east and you are in a great tourist area with amazing views. The "hotel" again is not a hotel and don't have high expectations for it. It is a building that a floor became bed & breakfast. Great water pressure, great service and clean. Room in back is quiet. I assume from facing front is noisy due to park and street traffic. Breakfast: decent but nothing amazing. Single with great strong coffee, fresh orange juice (best I have had), boiled eggs, a choice of fruits, yogurt, cereal, breads (2 to 3 choices), cheese and ham (1 choice of each). It was absolutely delightful to wake up and high such breakfast available. Stairs: it is a menace but carefully walking up and down is possible. Elevator is old style. Overall: I recommend this place for affordable stay.

The hotel is not a good choice. First you must enter at street level into a hallway and then carry your bags up a flight of steps without handrails to get to lift up on ground zero. Then take old. Manual door slide lift from zero to floor one and find reception down a hallway. No one is there to assist with luggage and it is dark. Then the room had a sink countertop made of varnished plywood...bad. the paint on 6 ft windows and shutters over sink was very much curling and peeling. The floors were very creaky/loud.The breakfast room service did not start till 8am and the lady was washing breakfast dirty dishes there right in the sink next to the small breakfast buffet...very unsanitary and very annoyingly loud. I would never stay here again... the tour company made a big mistake booking this for me.

JUST AWFUL - STAY AWAY Location was THE ONLY good part about this place. THE ONLY The first room was dingy. It was scary to think that management/owner thinks this is acceptable on any level. The other room we got was no better. Maybe a tiny tad. Embarrassing to even let people stay in rooms like this. They promote is as "historical rooms" when in fact it's has more of a neglected hostel vibe. Fake vent in an uncomfortably put in bathroom, leaking shower, 2 hangers for two people! Broken elevator for 3 days, so we had to drag our luggage downstairs from 3 flights of stairs ourselves. No one to help. No good accommodations as far as breakfast. Stale baked goods and cold coffee. Internet was off EVERY NIGHT and it was impossible to have anyone explain why and fix it. Towels are old and not soft at all. At the price we paid for this room, we could have had a true 5 star hotel in the USA.

Mold all over the bathroom. Toilet doesn't flush if the room above us is showering. Doors don't seal the sound well, we can hear inside the rooms as we walk by. Lobby and enterance smell of urine. Would not stay here again. We ended up getting a different hotel for a few nights to avoid staying in this one.

I want to start with the good which was that the staff were incredibly nice and helpful. I had to make a call and my phone was giving me problems so on of the staff members let me use their cellphone. The room was very nice and spacious and I found the beds to be very comfortable. Plus our room had air conditioning which was a big plus. Now for the not so great. I guess for the price and considering it was listed as a 4 star hotel I expected shampoo and conditioner in the shower, good WiFi (it was good at times but got down to less than 5 mbps for uploads and downloads for several hours each day), and a better breakfast (there was only one fruit option and the only egg option was hard boiled eggs). The other drawback is that staff are only there from 8am to 9pm so if you need something when they aren’t there you are out of luck. From what I can tell there is no dedicated after hours number. Overall, I wouldn’t hate staying there again but I definitely would try to find other accommodations first.

We booked the historic room, but we were given the spacious palace suite for no additional charge. The suite was clean and comfortable, although it faces the busy road. ||The location is good, and it was easy to get around using a mix of walking and the metro. However, unless you are a keen hiker, do not approach the hotel from the Avenida metro stop. The route is a steep trek all the way. Get off at Rato on the yellow line, the route is far less steep. ||The bathroom is a chunk of space shaved off the suite behind the headboard. The wall is thin, so you will hear everything that your partner is doing.||Breakfast is adequate, but limited due to a lack of space. There are plenty of restaurants and coffee/brunch places in the area. The receptionists are helpful and friendly. Overall, a good experience, and we would recommend Casa Do Principe.

This is a great location to stay. Close to tram stops and a range of good restaurants, a nice park and less than 10 minutes walk to a wonderful viewpoint of the city. Not the easiest walk from the tube and you do have to go up a spiral staircase to get to the first floor. There is a lift but we didn't try it,|Our bedroom "Arts" was big and airy with a separate bathroom with a good long, deep bath and double sink. It was very very clean. The bed was vast and comfy. It did look over the main road which can get noisy. |Breakfast was fine with a good range of dried goods, pastels de nata and boiled eggs.|The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful.|There is only one downside and that is there are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room or in the dining area. If this has been provided it would have been a five star rating.
