What a great place. Nothing is too much trouble for Kai; he is very generous with his time and effort.
My room had everything that I could possibly want, and the bathroom offered more than the usual.
Casa Esperanza is centrally located. I could easily walk to the CBD, and even into France.

The room was really clean, neat, and well stocked. The host, Kai, was very helpful. He explained everything, answered our questions, and was accommodating, especially since we didn’t have any Swiss francs on us. The location isn't in a touristy area, which was fine with me. There were cafes, grocery stores, and bus stops nearby. Considering how expensive Basel is, I think I got good value for my money.

The host Kai was extremely nice and super helpful. The room was spacious and the kitchen had more than enough for any needs. We had a shared restroom but that wasn't a problem at all, as we only shared it with another room and we barely saw a person who stayed there. The place is right next to the tram station and upon check-in you get a pass to ride public for free. There is no ac, but they provided a standing fan which worked out great even in the worst heat of July.

Fantastic find. Great location. SO convenient for airport. Would definitely stay again. Kai is exemplary host. Warm welcome from Kai who even met me at the tram station and helped me with my luggage. SO confidently located. Great for airport- take tram 1 direction Dreirosenbrucke one stop to Kannenfeldplatz. Airport bus 50 goes from there regularly and does not take long. Also great access to central Basel with choice of 2 tram lines (lines 1 and 3). Take tram 1 from main station- very easy. This is free with your booking confirmation. Studio has handy kitchenette with all that you need. With this property you get the Baselcard which gives you free transportation and 50% discount on Museums. It's also near Spalentor which has a bohemian vibe with restaurants and is great for the evening. This is definitely my first choice for somewhere to stay when visiting Basel. I am not surprised that it is regularly fully booked.

Another apartment in Basel Casa Esperanza Guest House with a shared bathroom but this place just seemed more friendly and better equipped with a gracious host (Kai Steinhauer) who even let us do our laundry for free. |Our host in Basel has been great. He apologized for the recommendation of the Thai place which we found closed at first. He loaned us umbrellas since it was raining off and on all day. He was most congenial. Would we recommend the place? In a heart beat.|

It's an "okay" type of budget place. They don't have a reception, so expect to handle the check-in in the hallway. Staff (the family that runs the place) is friendly, helpful and always on site. The room was clean, and the bathrooms were clean as well. The walls are thin, you can hear your neighbors snoring. The kitchen is very well equipped!

I cannot believe there are many better hosts out there than Kai. Fantastic service from start to finish. Super friendly, informative and professional. The place is absolutely fine, comfortable and clean... everything I needed. It is not super central, but so so easy to get to both the airport and the centre by bus or tram. Can't recommend it enough...

Lovely spacious apartment close to tram and bus. Great supermarkets nearby and fantastic cheese shop. Bea and Kai were so helpful, even brought us cake. Tea, coffee & other sundries provided. Facilities were excellent and the apartment was spotless. Thanks for a great stay.
