5 Best Day Trips from Mexico City | Condé Nast Traveler

"This small boutique hotel is within walking distance from the center of Tepoztlán. You'll feel a sense of calm as you approach the hotel and its beautiful gardens. Each of the 12 rooms has a slightly different design, but all are spacious and light with a contemporary feel and interesting design features. Red tile floors with designer rugs juxtapose well with the the stark white walls and light wood bed frame. The rooms feel cool and are extremely comfortable." - Susannah Rigg

The hotel itself is just a beautiful and well maintained place. The rooms could be a little bit more modern and offer more space to hang your clothes, but all in all pretty nice.||It could become cold in the mornings and the evenings, also in the rooms, so make sure to pack accordingly. ||You got to take advantage of the restaurant to have dinner and also the Spa. Very nice treatments, although the Spa itself could also be a little bit modernized.

Our experience at Casa Fernanda was exceptional and the best experience my partner and I have had in a boutique hotel. The staff was so welcoming and their attention to details was unbelievable. The hotel itself is also wonderful and our suite was just perfect. We had a nice time at the pool after visiting the village and climbing to the top of the mountain. Location is also great. We strongly recommend!!

We had 2 amazing nights at casa Fernanda and we enjoyed every moment of it! The rooms are wide and clean, the gardens and the art is stunning and unique, as well as the pool and the staff who were super professional and helpful with anything needed. Highly recommended and we’ll definitely be back!

Casa Fernanda was truly a wonderful experience from the moment of arrival to check out. The service was impeccable, and the guest advisors, were world class (especially Arantxa). I traveled as a solo woman from CDMX and they provided me with clear directions on how to arrive from CDMX without any problems. The rooms were very clean and smelled amazing! Their products were top quality, and the on-site spa was one of the best I have ever experienced in my travels. I enjoyed the pool every day I was there, and the restaurant on-site was also fantastic. The hotel was walking distance to the downtown area of Tepoztlan, making it super easy to explore this beautiful small town. Truly a wonderful experience overall, and I cannot wait to return! 10/10!

We recently stayed at this adorable boutique hotel and were impressed by its charm and the friendliness of the staff. The rooms were well-kept and cozy However, our spa experience was unfortunately marred by subpar services. The facial we received was not only extremely painful but also left us with chemical burns.

Incredible rooms but sadly very inconsistent service. It’s a beautifully designed boutique hotel, I loved how small and intimate it felt but unfortunately there were a lot of things that didn’t make sense or weren’t up to the standard of a 4-star hotel. E.g. The pool is heated in a 33-degree Celsius heat during the day (which didn’t make sense), the room service button didn’t work, the first breakfast I had didn’t include a yogurt fruit bowl. When I ordered a beetroot goats cheese salad - I had to ask for the missing goats cheese. When we asked for more water at 7am, they didn’t bring any. When we went to have breakfast at 8am - there was nothing available or ready. I could go on and on. The most disappointing part was me trusting that hotel is private and small enough to leave a few of my belongings on a sun lounger by the pool. The next day none of the staff could find anything. They somewhat tried to blame other guests for grabbing my cap/suncream which I struggled to believe when the rooms are between $200-400 a night. We got so fed up with so many inconsistencies that we decided to not even bother with the spa (which again, the hotel receptionist couldn’t even reserve for us?). The King Suite with a private garden and a bathtub was incredible though. Very spacious, well designed, bright but also lacking a mini bar fridge. The service wasn’t worth the value so I wouldn’t recommend to family or friends.

Yelp
Spectacular. Above & beyond. Incredible. Stunning. Just a few words that immediately pop into mind when I think of this boutique hotel. Felt safe and secure my entire stay, staff checks in on you often and very attentive. The room is very spacious, comes with comfortable bedding, iron, bathrobes, slippers, Nespresso machine, lavender water, tailored scented body wash and lotion. The spa is worth every peso. This hotel is meant for someone whom wishes to relax. Given that info there's no gym on property. But the spa has a hot sauna, wet sauna, hydrotherapy pool, various private rooms for massages, full showers and locker rooms. This is an adult only hotel so you'll miss the screams of crying children or loud cartoons. But hopefully the magical sunrises and sunsets can make up for that.

Yelp
I attended a five night yoga retreat at Casa Fernanda and it was a lovely experience. The room was very nice, the facility is lovely and the service was spectacular. Breakfast is the best meal of the day in the restaurant. In the spa I really enjoyed the hot stone massage and hydrotherapy. The antioxidant facial wasn't my favorite experience, but overall this spa is amazing. Casa Fernanda is a lovely oasis in a magical Mexican mountain town.

Yelp
When I made my reservation, I was looking forward to pampering myself. I wasted my money and got sick. I was asked what time I would arrive. I checked 11:00m. But my room wasn't available until 3:00pm. So rather than relax after my taxi and bus rides and not dressed for exploring, I set out anyway under the noon sun. I soon realized I was wearing the wrong shoes for the uphill cobblestone streets, but by then it was only 1:00 and neither the hotel cafe or restaurant were open. Nor was my room available yet. I changed into my swim suit in the lobby toilet. The pool was lovely and heated. I relaxed a bit. At 2:00 I had beet salad at the restaurant. By 2:55, my room was ready. But I couldn't relax or write- something I imagined doing there - because they blast some terrible elevator music in the courtyard from morning until 9:00 and thus into my room. As a favor to me they turned it off at 7:00pm the first night. I ate dinner there too. At 4:30am I woke with diarrhea. The epic type that five days later sent me to a clinic. I cleared it with antibiotics. The Toci spa was wonderful. I ate a cinnamon roll so I would not embarrass myself during the massage. And I appreciated coffee in the room. But again no breakfast before 8:00am. Even if you have paid for it and have a bus to catch. The staff tried to be helpful. But the place is kind of shabby. Furniture needs refinishing and there was a stagnant pond behind my room. At least the maids graciously brought me plain water. I was offered three different scents for the products in the room but not whether I wanted lavender in my water.

Yelp
Excellent place. We went almost daily for a week to eat. The food was top notch each time. They have some service issues, but without a doubt, our best dining experience in Tepoztlan for the week. Highly recommend
