Why Casa Fortunato Feels Like Home - AFAR

"António and Filipa Fortunato, co-owners of Casa Fortunato, have created a boutique hotel that feels like home. Located in a historic building in Lisbon, the hotel incorporates early 20th-century Portuguese design elements and offers a personalized guest experience. The owners and their family engage with guests, offering activities like yoga classes and communal meals. Each room is uniquely designed, featuring different furniture and decor, and the hotel maintains a welcoming atmosphere where guests are considered part of the family." - Nicole Antonio

As design aficionados coming from New York to Lisbon we were immediately attracted to the aesthetic of Casa Fortunato as gleaned from reviewing the website. The hotel is indeed a humbling architectural and design experience, with treasures and thoughtful details in every corner. The collection of items in each room are from the architect owners' personal collection, so no two rooms are the same, and the common areas are fantastic with a great collection of design, children's and other books. However in the end what really blew us away here was the kindness, warmth and thoughtfulness of the staff, who went above and beyond to give us recommendations and to assist us in any way possible. The hotel even sent a detailed list of the owners' recommendations for the city which was very useful and heartfelt. Their goal is to make the hotel really feel like a home, and in this they succeeded. We found this hotel a very relaxing place to stay, with a free yoga class every morning and healthy breakfast with a private chef. There is also a nice working space, great for meetings or lounging to read books and listen to music (there is even a piano!). highly recommend you check it out.

Absolutely incredible hotel. I can’t recommend Casa Fortunato enough. Every room is absolutely beautiful, with every item of furniture telling a story. The attention to detail is fantastic. The beds are so comfortable with HUGE baths in the bathroom. The macrobiotic breakfasts were also a highlight, so delicious. What makes the hotel so unique is the hosts Antonio and Filipa, as well as their very thoughtful team. They will do everything they can to make your stay in Lisbon as wonderful as possible. I have never felt so well looked after by a hotel, but this is not a hotel it is a home where you feel so welcome. LOVED every minute of it. Thank you Antonio and Filipa!

The kindest, most accommodating staff I have ever met. At Casa Fortunato you truly feel like you are home. Every single person is so incredibly warm and welcoming, including the owners themselves. The décor of each room in the hotel is so unique and beautiful. We absolutely loved the breakfast - the most delicious macrobiotic meals made by seriously skilled chefs. We can’t wait to try dinner there as well during our next stay. It’s also definitely an added bonus having their adorable black lab, Cacau, around - he’s the world’s sweetest dog.

Casa Fortunato is an inspirational place to stay. Exquisite design aesthetic in each and every room, and a beautiful city of course, but also a level of hospitality from Antonio, Filipa ( and special mention to Goncalo and Sonia) which made us feel more like old friends than paying guests. Just a lovely, lovely vibe. And much though we love our family, not sure we really wanted to go home!! Anyhow, needs must and life goes on, but we can’t wait to come back and hang out at Casa Fortunata again..... (Adam & Carrie Glinsman, Cambridge, UK)

Now a cozy boutique hotel, Casa Fortunato is an oasis in Lisbon —and a stay here does actually feel like you've just entered the home of a longtime friend. Each individually designed rooms (there are just nine) are beautiful with thoughtful details, a vibrant world of its own, bathed in natural light and buzzing with energy. Casa Fortunato’s Instagram-worthy spaces also offers a special healthy mediterranean food (needed in my crazy busy life) and their sweet black labrador, Cacau <3 will just make you feel that you can't wait to come back!

We tried contacting them in several different ways (Airbnb, Instagram, website), but never got a response.
