As design aficionados coming from New York to Lisbon we were immediately attracted to the aesthetic of Casa Fortunato as gleaned from reviewing the website.
The hotel is indeed a humbling architectural and design experience, with treasures and thoughtful details in every corner. The collection of items in each room are from the architect owners' personal collection, so no two rooms are the same, and the common areas are fantastic with a great collection of design, children's and other books.
However in the end what really blew us away here was the kindness, warmth and thoughtfulness of the staff, who went above and beyond to give us recommendations and to assist us in any way possible. The hotel even sent a detailed list of the owners' recommendations for the city which was very useful and heartfelt. Their goal is to make the hotel really feel like a home, and in this they succeeded. We found this hotel a very relaxing place to stay, with a free yoga class every morning and healthy breakfast with a private chef.
There is also a nice working space, great for meetings or lounging to read books and listen to music (there is even a piano!). highly recommend you check it out.
