This is a very cool jungle resort that feels intimate and very well thought out. It is very secluded and makes relaxing easy with the sweeping views, decor and friendly staff. I would definitely come back. The drive isn’t bad, definitely pretty narrow (2 cars barely fit at a time with parts only wide enough for 1) and windy but stay to your side and watch for cars coming and you’ll be fine. The restaurant is no longer vegan or vegetarian but there are a few options if you are Vegan. The yoga temple is free to use with mats provided but if you want a class schedule at least a couple days ahead of time (same goes for massages).

We loved the lush, rustic setting of Casa Grande Mountain Retreat and will definitely return when we are next in PR! This is a place to get away from the hustle and hassles of modern life. Open the window slats, disconnect your devices, and just relax to the sounds of coqui, tropical birds, and wind in the palms. They have renovated the reception and dining area of the main building, so it is a calm, well-appointed place to dine or have a coffee. Our meals were delicious and reflected the chef’s talent for balancing traditional Puerto Rican dishes with new approaches. Guests should understand the drive could be a challenge if you are not used to narrow, curvy roads, — especially after dark — but everyone seemed to drive cautiously. There are also some outdoor adventures nearby which we will check out next time.

There are a few things you should know up front before you book here. 1) there is no AC... so if you're going in the dead of summer and you're sensitive to heat, think twice. 2) the restaurant has limited food choices, the menu doesn't really change, and it's *expensive*. For example, one night for 3 people we paid about $180 for 3 gyro sandwiches, 3 fruit juices, a beer and 2 desserts. The food was fine but is honestly an area for improvement. I don't mind paying money for good food, but we all wished there were more local choices and less "pasta bolognese"/chicken gyros. 3) if you are at all sensitive to rainforest noises like coqui or other frogs, this place isn't going to work for you because every night is a riot of noises almost all night long. We loved it, some might not. 4) its rustic. No mini fridge in the room, no options for lunch except what's on offer in the snack case (when we were there it was granola bars, yogurt, chia pudding, and rice with plantains). The rooms are clean and comfortable, but it is rustic. And like in many parts of PR, you can't flush your used TP.||The surroundings are absolutely gorgeous, the pool is lovely, the grounds are meticulously kept. All of the staff is super friendly. The trails down to the river are a fun excursion, so bring shoes you can scramble across rocks in. ||We loved Batey Adventure Tours about 25 mins away, the river kayaking adventure was wonderful and don't miss Mathias cafe next door to the Batey office. Roast chicken, alcapurrias, habichuelas, and other delicious food awaits. It's a favorite of locals. ||Finally, the resort is LGBTQ friendly so they get 500 stars from us just for that.

This hotel would not be the correct choice for most people. There is no air conditioning, TV, or frig, and it is very (!) remote. We took a Google recommended way and could have easily gotten stuck or dead (the hotel sent better instructions but I didn't read all of the details). The restaurant doesn't have so many choices and is mostly "healthy".|The jungle location, however, is so nice! We were so surprised that there were NO mosquitos, unlike the rest of PR. This is probably due to having no standing water and so many birds. (The birds, frogs, crickets made it tough for me to sleep well, but my wife loved it.) The bed is really comfortable, with cotton sheets. The super strong fan made it comfortable and even cold as the night got cooler; this higher, forested location makes AC not needed.|The food quality and patio dining were fantastic, also. An automatic tip of 18% is added, which I didn't notice, but the staff fixed this the next day. We also did the nice (and free) yoga class. The pool is very nice and we took a nice walk along the river adjacent.

The tranquility and charm of the hotel is par excellence. The rooms roar of the night, authentically and beautifully. The hotel restaurant is however a disservice to the establishment. The restaurant is overpriced, its food is extremely disappointing, bland and without any sheer explanation of how pretentiousness can overpower logic and good taste. The $50 meal I had here was a miserable ravioli and two micro salads. A shame.

Please follow the directions provided by the resort! Beautiful location, property is very nice!! Rooms are as advertised. The nature sounds are hypnotizing! We had a reservation at their restaurant. The food was very tasty with great vegan options. Papaya tart for the desert was delicious! Our server was very nice and the restaurant had a nice vibe. Definitely recommended!

This place is absolutely amazing. Only stayed for one night and arrived in the pouring rain but still the most beautiful and secluded place I have stayed. Dinner/breakfast are delicious, service is excellent, grounds are breath taking. Rooms clean and all creature comforts thought of! We even got to swim in the pool in the rain, it was glorious, I highly recommend staying here as long as you can and checking out local hiking and river adventures 🩷

We had a great time here! It was extremely tranquil and relaxing. The property itself was beautiful, with plenty of plants and animals to explore. It was very quiet, and we enjoyed walking around, relaxing on our private balcony, and sitting by the pool. The food also incredible - very fresh and well-made (and reasonably priced, too!). There was also plenty to do and see in the area. The river walk was beautiful, as was visiting nearby sights like Cañón Blanco and Sandra Farms Coffee. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were all friendly. The room felt very private due to the layout and plants everywhere, and it was nicely decorated. Overall, just one of the coolest places to stay!
