Casa Guedes absolutely lived up to the hype — one of those Porto spots where you take one bite and immediately get why people keep recommending it.
We came hungry and left very happy. The star for me was the pork (pernil) sandwich: insanely tender, juicy meat with that slow-roasted flavour, and the cheese melting into everything so perfectly that every bite felt rich but still balanced. Simple idea, executed at a level that’s honestly hard to beat.
We also tried the francesinha and it was a full-on comfort-food masterpiece — gooey cheese blanket, a perfect runny egg on top, and that warm, savoury sauce that you just want to scoop up until the plate is spotless. Add the crispy fries on the side and it’s game over.
Even the snacks were great — the croquettes/rissois-style bites were crunchy outside, soft and flavourful inside, and disappeared way too fast.
On top of the food, the place has a fun, lively vibe and the service was quick and efficient (especially impressive when it’s busy). If you’re in Porto and want something iconic, satisfying, and genuinely delicious: Casa Guedes is a must.
