The hotel was in a perfect location. There were five or six restaurants right on the street as well as a couple of coffee bars.||The staff not have been more accommodating. They were all very friendly specifically Pedro at the front desk and Vanessa the breakfast manager. The free plentiful breakfast was an added bonus. The hotel had free parking as well. Our room had a terrace and was basically a 750 sq. ft. apt. With full kitchen amenities. I highly recommend!!

Caring and helpful staff thruout......quaint location and close to everything, easy walk to the Marina and shops and the street the hotel is located on hosts some great restaurants. Friendly and helpful staff, they take care of every detail.....they made our stay an amazing experience, beautiful island, Ponta Delgada has been on my wish list and it did not disappoint. Brief one night stay here but good enough room. Paying extra for a terrace was worth it for some fresh air although it’s enclosed by walls so a little claustrophobic. Bathroom could do with better maintenance as shower tiles had black mould on them. Although we’d paid for breakfast we had to leave too early so took the packed breakfast instead. This wasn’t great, soggy sandwiches and croissants. Excellent location.

Besides the size and location of the room (in the middle of the city centre, it is probably very loud during the summer/party season, but okayish in the off-season), we cannot say many positive things. The room is very dark and outdated. The mattress was old and there was dirt in the shower and toilet. The breakfast was very standard. When we asked for a vegan option, they only offered soy milk and fruit. Other hotels put more enthusiasm and effort into providing additional options, such as vegan bread spreads or soy yoghurt. For Casa Hintze Ribeiro, it should have been super easy to find something in the grocery stores right next to the hotel. After all, the capital of the island offers far more plant-based food than more remote hotels. But even they managed it.

This is a nice mid-range hotel, well situated for exploring Ponta Delgada. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful (including arranging a taxi and take away breakfast on the day I had a very early flight). He only drawback is the noise from the local bar, which had loud music and raucous singing until 2am on Sunday morning.

Firstly, the staff at the front desk and cafe are amazing. They are friendly, helpful and try to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The prices of the cafe are also very reasonable given the location of the hotel and compared to prices at surrounding venues. The location is great as it's very central and walkable to all main city attractions. The room was mostly well kept and functional with some areas of improvement Where it lost the 2 stars is as follows: - the bathroom has no privacy when it comes to the shower. It's glass-paned and it opens out to the hallway which is very visible to the living areas. Even if the shower door swung the other way, it would be a vast improvement - the shower doesn't drain very well. The floor can be graded better to drain more effectively. Otherwise after a long-ish shower and open the door, the pooled water leaks out onto the carpet in the hallway. This leads to the next point... - there was a urine-like stench that came from the shower drain at some point during our stay. The smell also seemed to be from the couch as well - the hot tub in the spa never went higher than 36⁰C despite trying all settings. The gym was basic but effective. The other amenities such as the sauna and steam room were pretty good. - housekeeping overall was good but there were some consistency improvements such as providing conditioner, extra towels (we had a 3rd person), not providing us with a dish towel until after they realized we were washing our own dishes. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay and definitely would recommend it to others.

Lovely location close to center of the city and seafront. Room was OK but quite old fashioned. Changes were obvious in the design. Breakfast was mostly pastries, meats and cheese. Hot food did not look appetizing. OK place for a couple of days.

A good location in the centre of Porta Delgada, very helpful and friendly staff but I wouldn't recommend the rooms. I was staying with my sister and nephew and shared a room with a dividing door for night time and slept on the bed settee - it was reasonably comfortable but not suitable for two people unless you're an excellent sleeper and quite small. The bathroom area was strange - tiny with no privacy and nowhere to hang towels - not one hook anywhere. Both the toilet and shower cubicle were glass and echoed sound. The breakfast in the foyer of the hotel was good, with fruit and yogurt, plenty of bread and pastries, also hot options. Because of the bathroom design, I wouldn't choose to stay again.

Great spot to stop and catch a drink while exploring the city. Diogo is very extremely welcoming and attentive to your needs. Will definitely be back!

The good: Hotel is in a great location in Ponta Delgada where you can easily walk to cafes, restaurants (go to Nonna's pizza, Fish 22, and Fuji!), points of interest such as the famous gates, and a laundromat. Private garage which is helpful when public parking in these small, narrow, cobblestone streets are so difficult. In addition, the rooms are quite large compared to other hotel rooms typical in Europe. There's a couch, dining table, and kitchenette as well. Staff are helpful when you call. Areas for improvement: Rooms come with hotel breakfast. For a 4 star hotel we expected more. Food was always cold (eggs - we got eggshells a few times, mushrooms, sausage) unless you toasted your bread. 2 selections of pastries, some fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, and 2 kinds of deli meats. It might sound like a lot now but compared to other hotel breakfasts in Europe we've had a more plentiful spread. The gym can only be opened if you ask the front desk, so it sounds like only 1 room can use it at a time. There are a lot of bathroom stalls, 1 treadmill, 1 bike, 1 elliptical, a yoga mat, and a set of adjustable dumbbells. The equipment was all very dated and could use maintenance. I wish it was easily opened with our hotel card so we could access it at any time without having to call and wait for someone to open the door.
