Had the pleasure to have one of the best steak I’ve ever had. - Old cox T bone with domestic beef. Would the simple seasoning and perfect cooking. I finished it by myself but highly recommended for 2 people to share. - roasted pepper is very tasty and sweet, good balance with the fresh bread - fried chorizo is also good

Food was average. Beef a bit tough with chewy sections. Asparagus and pepper not my type. Service was average, could be better. Fish not too good either. I wouldn’t visit this place again.

Old cox steak is the must try item. White asparagus is also quite tasty. Roasted peppers was quite sweet and whole portion is good for 4 people

Wonderful lunch. Simple but perfectly executed foods. So delish. Very atmospheric. Totally worth the drive. Only dairy cattle - 7,8,9+ years grilled. Really tasty.

Been here quite a few times and each time I say to myself "this is the best steak I've ever tasted" and it really is. I highly recommend going here. The local cow is amazing.

My husband and I were already craving for a good steak before we even got to Madrid, so being the diligent researcher I am, I quickly scoped out the best spot in the city. When I found out about the famous and pioneer Basque country cooking and the 21st spot best steak restaurant in the world, Julian de Tolosa, I immediately booked a table for 2. All the recommendations online were taken which started with the white huge succulent asparagus (never expected there is white and the first that we had), the freshest lettuce we’ve had, served with vinaigrette, simply compliments our palate, and then came the 25 days of dry ageing from national breed chuleton… the best steak of our lives! I don’t know how to explain other than the smell from the charcoal and the meat are intoxicating. We took our time devouring it. The famous piquillo peppers were also amazing. I could finish a plate of it by myself. Definitely compliments the steak. As ridiculous as I sound now having eaten the best asparagus, lettuce, peppers, and steak of my life but yes, it was also the best basque cheesecake of my life! Creamy and totally eye rolling yummy! On our first day, Madrid did not disappoint⭐️

I've been meaning to go to casa julian near san sebastian for a while so took the chance in Madrid. Everything ordered was extremely delicious. Please bear in mind these are specialists in txuleton and you take the meat as it comes. If you don't like your meat pink and want overcooked meat, don't go there. This place does not deserve bad reviews because people simply like overcooked meat. The txuleton is full of flavour and super tender. It is served the way it is to maximise the flavour and keep the meet tender. And casa julian delivers an extremely tasty txuleton. Even though the meat has all the attention here, everything was was extrmely delicious and tasty. The mushroom starters were full of flavour, the bread was amazing, the perfect balance of soft with crusty, the peppers were sweet and full of flavour It is 9am and my belly is rumbling asking to be taken back to casa julian. It is worth every penny We had a friend with us who doesn't eat meat, only fish and she was able to ha e a deliciou meal without touching the txuleton. A great place for all It came to 270 euros for 4 but we had txuleton for 3, drinks and desert included with lots of starters and some sides, with a main fish dish.

Yelp
I came to taste the steak I saw in the window. I ordered a steak medium rare (entrecote) and the gazpacho. Both were delicious however my medium rare was perfectly rare with a cold center. That and my drink being empty for half of my meal are what drives my rating. The only job of a steakhouse is to get the temp right!

Yelp
Restaurant has a very nice and clean interior. Nice selection of wines. We ordered salad, roasted peppers, and steak for 2. They prepare it rare, but it was not bloody and cooked to melt in your mouth. Desserts were great too! Staff was attentive but not too overbearing

Yelp
Pleasant lighting, low noise level (both usually problematic in Spain) and the best meat I've tried in a while. Unlike most Spanish steakhouses, the beef is aged.

Yelp
I loved the warm bread that welcomed us. For appetizer, the white asparagus were pretty tasty. We ordered the steak for two, and it was far from the medium that we asked for. All red and bloody. The chef happily went back and cooked it a bit more but some of it were still a bit too red for me. So please ask for advice from the waitress so you get the steak you ask for. The steak was well seasoned so it was a shame that I didn't finish my share, but I did like the place...Weird, I know.

Yelp
One of my favorites in the world. The chop for 2 with the roasted peppers (you need to order in addition but it's a definite must) is one of the best steaks I have ever tasted, rivaling the most esteemed steakhouses in NYC. I think it has something to do with the ambiance your get from the crackling open-wood burning fire in the kitchen and the chef's patience and skill with the steak. Try the white sangria as well and don't look back. The owner Angela is amazing as well.

Yelp
The service was excellent - very attentive, but not too much. The bread at the beginning was fresh - hot, crispy outside and perfect inside. I had the alubias (black/dark red) beans - perfectly cooked. Since I was by myself, the waitress kindly offered me the half portion. They came with cabbage, pork, morcillo (blood sausage), and peppers in olive oil. The T-bone was huge!! I couldn't finish all of it! I did order dessert (it goes in a different compartment) - the natillas were very smooth and rich. I would highly recommend this establishment!
