The 7 Best Hostels in Medellin (Updated 2025)

"In the middle of Poblado, I found Casa Kiwi to be an institutionally popular hostel that’s always full and therefore great for meeting people: dorms are small and the beds a bit thin but each bed has a locker and the building is clean and tidy. There’s a big kitchen with free coffee and tea, an on-site restaurant serving tasty, cheap food, a rooftop terrace, a plunge pool, a bar, plenty of hammocks, and even a mini-theater — a lively, social choice in Poblado." - Matthew Kepnes

The staff absolutely make this hostel. Extremely accommodating, friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond for us on multiple occasions. The neighbourhood is very loud at night so make sure you're out and about enjoying it, otherwise bring earplugs and white noise!

The hostel is okay for the price – good value overall. However, one serious issue we experienced was the presence of cockroaches in the kitchen. On our second day, we couldn’t use the kitchen at all – it seemed like staff were dealing with a pest problem, though no one told us anything. Unfortunately, the next day we saw multiple cockroaches again, some crawling on the cutlery (forks, spoons, etc.), which is really concerning from a hygiene perspective. The staff did not acknowledge or inform guests about the issue, which is disappointing. Cockroaches can carry diseases, so it’s important to warn guests and ensure they clean everything before use. This problem affected our stay, and we hope management takes proper steps to resolve it and communicate more transparently in the future.

The staff in general was nice, but not super friendly and the location is good. However there is a lot to improve… my bedroom wasn’t clean and made me feel really uncomfortable and bathrooms on the first day i got to the hostel were very disgusting, however on the 2nd day were a bit cleaner. The hostel doesn’t have a social vibe at all and its really hard to meet people, cause it feels like there is no one there, at least during my stay. The hostel has potential but it definitely doesn’t meet the vibe and reality from the photos you see online.

Really nice hostel. Private rooms are spacious. All areas were clean and we'll kept. Received a free drink voucher on arrival. Good location, close to busy area but far enough away from the noise. Would recommend for a quiet stay in Medellin

I really enjoyed my stay Casa Kiwi! The staff are lovely and super helpful. The pool and bar are nice, and there are lots of good spots to chill out and socialise. There's also filtered water and coffee available for free. My only negatives were that the wifi was a bit patchy in my room and on the terrace (but fine if you're near the front desk) and that the ventilation in my room wasn't the best (but also fine as long as you keep the window open). It's in a great location - very close to clubs and bars but has a chill vibe and was quieter at night than I was expecting. I had a late night flight and they were very chill about letting me store my bags and continue to use the facilities for the day after checking out in the morning, which I really appreciated. Would definitely stay here again ♥️

The hostel is right in the heart of the great neighbourhood of El Poblado but far from any noise. Amazing to be about and about as a solo traveller and sleep properly. Also, the Colombian permanent staff are the loveliest people that provide a service with kindness, generosity and joy. Very nice experience :)

This Hostel has such a fantastic vibe, with an affordable rate. My friend and I came from a party hostel and needed a place to chill after a lot of traveling. This place absolutely provided: it has a wonderful hammock area, and a rooftop with a pool and a great view of the city. The staff was nothing but kind and helpful. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in Medellin again!
