My husband and I stayed 7 nights at Casa Kootenay. Absolutely loved it. Location is very quiet and the rooftop deck was great. We really enjoyed sitting there at sunset and watching all the people on the beach. The breakfasts were amazing, every day. Leeann was a wonderful hostess, friendly and helpful but not intrusive. We would definitely come back. I would recommend renting a car to get to the beaches, etc. Also, lots of on street parking available.

Leeanne has created a pretty spectacular respite in La Paz. The grounds of her B&B are gorgeous with many comfortable spaces for reading, petting her dogs, watching proposals on the beach, and taking in a sunrise/sunset. Birds and plants are everywhere.||Our room was spotless and nicely appointed with plenty of shelving and a terrific bathroom. ||LeeAnn has coolers, umbrellas, and chairs available that we used almost daily for excursions to some of the prettiest beaches on the planet. ||Breakfast is family style and delicious - her home cook, Alma, cooks a hot dish daily and there is coffee, tea, juice, and yoghurt/cereal always available. ||Leeann sets clear boundaries on when she is “on duty” but eats breakfast with you in her gorgeous dining area and is knowledgeable, helpful, and full of advice and opinions about the best beaches, neighborhoods, tacos, etc. she has also led a very interesting life and is fun to talk to.||In short, we would highly recommend a stay at Casa Kootenay. We will most certainly be back.

My wife and I are avid travelers and we seek out accommodations that are intimate and generally away from the more highly touristy areas.|We just completed our first trip to wonderful Baja and La Paz. A big part of what made this trip so enjoyable was the attention and expertise we got from Leeanne and the outstanding comfort of Casa Kootenay. This is Leanne’s home and passion project and it shows in any number of ways.|I start my research with 4.8 traveler rated housing and above. Casa Kootenay popped to the front of the line. My initial inquires with Leeanne were met with a timely, informative response. As Casa K only has four rooms, we built out trip around availability. Reading other traveler reviews it was apparent that Casa Kootenay was a special experience. The daily abundant breakfasts lovingly, creatively prepared by Alma, Cecilia’s helpfulness and Leanne’s expertise make Casa Kootenay a five stay for a three star price.|Whether it’s using the free kayaks or SUPS to play with the dolphins, or the free provided bikes to ride the dedicated bike paths fifteen minutes to the Malecon, or simply lounging on the upstairs deck to gaze out over Leeanne’s beach as far as your eyes can see (each sunset more magnificient than the last), Casa Kootenay was the gift that kept on giving. This was really one of the most magnificent stays we’ve had and it made our first trip to La Paz (definitely not our last) one we’ll never forget.|Leeanne is expert at providing suggestions on how to spend your days. We visited beaches based on her suggestions that we might not have found on our own. From open markets, to the Malecon, Carnivale to swimming with whales, every day in La Paz and at Casa Kootenay was varied, rich and full. |We had eight nights at Casa Kootenay and frankly, we were hoping the snow back home might have kept us there longer.|Casa Kootenay, Leeanne, her staff, Sauza and Rain helped to give us the Baja vacation of our dreams. We’re already imagining our next trip.|Lastly, ask Leeanne about Silvia Pech Duarte at SP Servicios Profesionales for extraordinary guide services. These two women gifted us their love of La Paz and in the process made a lasting impression.

Wonderful place to stay. The owner, Leann, does a great job interacting with guests, making the feel included, providing great info on what to do. Breakfasts a plus: fresh baked goods, yogurt, daily hot food special, etc. |Really a pleasure to stay in well maintained and true Mexican architecture. TV reception exceptionally good for hotel and wifi was great. Quiet street. No nightclub noise but close enough to downtown to walk or ride bikes.

Truly a wonderful stay! Leann and her staff are so welcoming and helpful! Her dogs are sweethearts and the turtles were cool to watch. Breakfast was delicious with a nice variety that included fresh fruits, baked goodies, juices, tea, coffee, beans, and eggs cooked dishes. We stayed 5 nights in the Mt Thompson room; it was nicely furnished and offered a comfortable bed with soft linens. There was a ceiling fan in the bathroom and the main room, and a standing fan in addition to an air conditioning unit that worked very well. There is an upstairs veranda with a large assortment of seating areas, that showcase the teal/aqua water and beautiful beach. At night, it’s nice to do some stargazing from there too. Guests have use of kayaks and bikes onsite as well. Not only the guest rooms, but the entire property was clean and well maintained. And it’s in a quiet, residential area!!! No loud music playing (thumping bass) all day and half the night that we experienced at a different property. We could not have been more pleased with our stay here!!!

We just returned from a six night stay at this charming 4 villa BnB with a pool. I am so glad this was our choice for the week. The top patio views were just what the doctor ordered. This place is directly on the beach which serves as a great walk or run in the morning. Breakfast was timely, beautiful, tasteful and plentiful. The coffee was exceptional, which for me is very important. The chef Alma was the first ray of sunshine in our day. Next came the options for daily activity which included kayaks, bikes--which were provided by the host- shopping, exploring, beaches or however you plan for your day. A large superstore was within walking distance as were a few restaurants. Leanne--the host and owner was available every morning with many activity ideas and more than helpful to everyone by helping out with details for these excursions. The area was deemed as being very safe and I agree as we rarely heard cars or people on the outside streets and it was very quiet in the evenings. If you are missing your pets at home, Leanne's two very sweet and obedient doggies serve as temporary pet-mates. Pat D.

Casa Kootenay is a very special, exceptionally friendly, well-located, immaculate beach front bed and breakfast. We spent a week here and would definitely return. Owner Leeanne has created a lovely space for travelers to relax on site with comfortable rooms, balconies, a pool, bicycles, kayaks, paddle boards, and lots of other stuff for enjoying the beach and bay. We felt well taken care of starting the day with a delicious breakfast in the clubhouse looking out on the water. Leeanne is an engaging and knowledgeable host and happy to share her expertise in tour planning and water sports and different locales to explore La Paz on and offshore. We enjoyed kayaking and swimming from the beach in front of the clubhouse, and bicycling along the Malecon. Thank you to Leeanne, chef Alana, and Celia for giving us such a nice week on our first visit to La Paz.

My wife and I are a couple who had only ever visited Mexico in the Yucatan at all-inclusive resorts. This trip to La Paz was a result of wanting to experience the Mexican culture and being away from the bonds of a resort. We were significantly outside our comfort zone being on our own, with a rental car in a city we had never been to before. Casa Kootenay seemed to fit the bill as we figured the included breakfast would take care of one meal and possibly we could gather some information about the area from the hosts and guests. Our minds were quickly put at ease after we arrived because Leanne, the host, could not had been more helpful. She has lived in the area for many years, knows it very well and is more than willing to help you find anything you need. From restaurants, tours, attractions at nearby towns, secret beaches, she is there to help. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are quiet, the breakfasts are superb, the beach is beautiful, the facilities are clean and well maintained, what else do you need? The location puts it in a quiet part of town far enough away from the bustle of the Malecon, but close enough for easy access. We have a rule we never stay at the same resort twice because there is just so much to experience you will never know what else is out there if you keep going back to the same place. We will be back to Casa Kootenay on our next trip to La Paz which will be the next rip to Mexico. We spent a week here and barely scratched the surface of all the things there are to do in La Paz and surrounding areas. Thanks again Leanne, hasta luego!
