Casa La Cartujita (Cartagena, Colombia) 10 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"As historic boutique hotels go, Casa La Cartujita doesn’t need to reinvent the wheel. Located in an old monastery, it’s small and stylish, with a first-rate chef, a pretty rooftop terrace, and mix of antiques and mid-century modern decor. What makes it special is that this isn’t just any historic center: it’s Cartagena de Indias, arguably one of the most beautiful colonial cities on the continent of South America. And the location within the ancient walls of the old city’s original stronghold means you’re within walking distance of everything you’ll want to do while you’re here." - Tablet Hotels

A wonderful haven in the historic district of Cartagena. Behind a discreet door you will find a great boutique hotel. No fuss. Simple and highly comfortable. Service is at the top. Breakfasts are good and generous. I stayed in the Maia room which has a balcony opening on a quiet street. Go!

I would definitely stay here again in exactly the same room. Although at first I thought the air conditioner was noisy, it cooled thé room quickly and worked well to block out any ambient noise from the town meaning I slept like a baby for 6 nights (we extended our stay). This is a quiet end of town but close to enough bars and restaurants. Breakfast is delicious and cooked to order and the team are super helpful and smiley. Our favourite place in Colombia

This was our second stay with Casa La Cartujita (we stayed there before the pandemic). It is located in a quieter part of the Walled City (further from the busiest touristy areas), but still within short walking distances of many top-notch restaurants and shops. The staff is very accommodating. Not everyone spoke English well, but we never had any issues communicating. They make a very tasty breakfast to order, with several great options. The rooms were clean and spacious. We had a street-facing room with a nice balcony for evening people watching. The double pane windows were awesome - we didn't hear any noise from the street. Most rooms are upstairs (~1 flight of stairs). Staff is helpful with the bags, but something to keep in mind if anyone has issues with mobility. Overall, an excellent stay!

This hotel is beautiful, conveniently located, and quiet. The staff was extremely helpful, in arranging trips, taxis, whatever we needed they helped to provide. The rooms were spacious, the air conditioners worked very well, (which is good because it can get so hot there). Also, the hotel provides a freshly cooked breakfast every morning. This was our first trip to Cartegena so we did not know what to expect, but when we do return we will definitely stay here again.

I cannot recommend Casa La Cartujita highly enough. I sort of stumbled onto it when searching for lodging during a short business trip to Cartagena. I consider myself lucky to have done so, particularly since the meeting I was there to attend was held in one of the larger hotels in Bocagrande, where I was originally planning to stay. The location of Casa La Cartujita is so much better than those hotels, as it gives you access to all of the amenities and sights of Old Town. The staff could not be nicer, and the breakfast was a delight to look forward to each morning. We plan to go back to Cartagena for a proper vacation and will definitely stay at Casa La Cartujita.

This impeccably clean small hotel is the perfect oasis to be able to return to after walking around the streets of Cartagena.| Everyone here went out of their way to make our stay a pleasure. |The delicious breakfast and friendly 24 hour front desk staff made this a perfect spot.

This hotel will always have a special place in our hearts as it was our first experience with Cartegena. Prior to arriving, Leyla, one of the great staff there corresponded with me about all the questions and requests that we had. She gave the experience of a 5 star hotel. Through the hotel, we were able to arrange for a car service to meet us and drop us off at the property. It was such a welcoming experience. The location, to me is perfect as it gave such a quiet reprieve from the busyness of the streets. It felt like our own private oasis. The accommodation is a great juxtaposition of modern and old. We enjoyed the breakfast daily- it felt like we had a private chef cooking for us. Absolutely loved everything about this property.

Stayed at Casa La Cartujita on two occasions in August. The first was due to an unexpected travel interruption and the second was as scheduled. They could not have been nicer helping us with our initial lodging at the last minute. That said the staff was incredible during both stays. The breakfast was delicious (best arepa de huevo) and special kudos for the included TV and internet (best of any place we stayed in Colombia). The property is an oasis and source of calm when exploring inside the walls of the colonial city of Cartagena.
