Tasting Spain’s Secret Flavors on the Sunny Costa de la Luz

"Casa La Siesta is a romantic cortijo below Vejer, reimagined with exposed beams, terracotta tiles, and iron balustrades. It offers locavore food from on-site gardens, best enjoyed outdoors among lavender-filled Mediterranean gardens."

The Best Affordable Hotels in Europe, According to Travel Experts

"The simple pleasures of Casa La Siesta, in Cádiz, are the best: feeling the breeze off the Atlantic; inhaling the fragrance of orange and olive trees from the nearby hills. Food also plays a special role here. At the hotel’s restaurant, authentic Andalusian specialties are paired with wonderful Spanish wine and sherry. Doubles from $340." - Travel + Leisure Editors

One the most special places we have ever stayed. Truly stunning - every space has been beautifully and thoughtfully designed. The kind of place you go to and immediately want to redesign your whole home afterwards! It is the ultimate in laid back luxury - I made the mistake of over thinking before we arrived and really shouldn’t have worried as every detail is taken care of. The food is superb - we had one evening with their daily menu (which was excellent) but one of our favourite evenings was just having a simple supper, in that beautiful courtyard, which was rustled up on the chef’s evening off. Perfect breakfasts in the garden - absolutely spot on. The place is stunning and the people couldn’t be more welcoming. Can’t wait to go back.

What's to love:||- Beautiful views of the countryside|- Hard-working, friendly staff|- Amazing landscaping (the lime trees are so perfect, they don't look real)|- Spacious rooms; charming lobby|- Plenty of outdoor lounging spaces|- Strong WiFi (it extends to the pool)|- There's a road in front of the hotel that's good for walking|- Two bikes on property|- Excellent cooking; fresh ingredients. The best breakfasts of my trip. I never needed lunch. I had dinner (served outside) onsite three of three nights, and the chef accommodated my pescatarian diet|- Draught beer at the ready; honor bar|- Fresh air and natural light in the room|- Bath products provided; Fresh water (in glass bottles) is plentiful|- Resident cat!|- Vejer de la Frontera (scenic town) and sculpture park nearby||Room for Improvement:||- Speaker should be replaced, as the bass reaches the sleeping rooms, and detracts from the peacefulness of the surroundings||Keep in mind:||- You'll need a car|- You need to know the gate code before you arrive (there's parking inside the gate)

Stayed here in March during one of rhw childrens weeks, overall 5*, its a really lovely part of Spain, staff are friendly, it was a little too cold to use the pool at the time we visited. The food and drink wasnt the best we had during our trip to be frank, but the stay was so peaceful and lots to do in the area. *please note when we visited there were no specific childrens activities whatsoever

We’ve just got back from the most wonderful 8 night stay at Casa La Siesta. We had high expectations but this place was even dreamier than we had hoped. The staff can’t do enough to help you, and seem to genuinely be invested in making your time there special. The pool was beautifully warm, which our baby boy LOVED and the food was perfect. We don’t tend to repeat the same holiday twice, but there is no way we won’t be back. We also met the owner and family who were lovely & seemed to have a special relationship with all the staff too - great to see. Thanks all!

This was a brilliant place to stay!||We went in one of their family weeks and stayed half the week in the Casita and the other half in the Stables. Both were excellent.||My kids enjoyed the low key activities and felt safe and happy. |The pool was heated perfectly, and the staff were amazing.|The food was absolutely delicious.||Wonderful surroundings - both the estate and the local beaches and villages.|Definitely go here if you're considering it! We have already booked to go back!!|

After four busy days in Seville, Casa la Siesta was a perfect oasis. The location (in the countryside near the coast, halfway between Cadiz and Tarifa, within easy driving distance of remarkable hiking, beaches and old white hilltop towns), the fairly new “hacienda-style” facilities (designed with the taste and texture of historic and contemporary comforts) and well-landscaped grounds, the casual informal atmosphere and the staff that is like a very attentive family all combined to provide an ideal retreat. We actually spent four days, left to spend five days elsewhere, but returned the next day after a disappointing one-night stand near Barbate, and after Mariluz and Jessica were able to juggle and squeeze us back in. ||Each day Connie and/or her son Zack, orchestrate breakfast, lunch and dinner for those who choose to dine-in or spend the day near the idyllic swimming pool. A blackboard in the living room lists the day’s menu. All our meals at Casa La Siesta befitted a 5-star restaurant! And, when on one occasion after we’d opted out, but then reversed course at the last minute, Connie was quick to accommodate.||We’ve traveled throughout Spain and our experience at Casa La Siesta will always be one of the most memorable hotel stays!

Gorgeous spot tucked away in the idyllic landscape of Andalusia and yet close to activity should you wish.||1. Location and overall layout & design of hotel = 5 stars|2. Honor bar & espresso available in lobby ....felt like being part of a friend's very cool villa.|3. Beautiful grounds and views from our second floor room where we faced inner courtyard & pool in distance.|4.Thanks to Alejandra B and Jessica M for lovely service.|5. Fireplace in main lobby with cozy sofas and games or talk with other guests - or our balcony and large room...gave us options to be social or introvert.|6. Big Rooms. |7. Looks old but new built hotel |8. The few quirky things: Chair in our room was so old - it barely functioned. i get the vibe but design works best when it is well functioning too. Also add towel rack holder by the shower.|9. got lots of free parking and some cats (a treat for us) on the grounds, as many country spots will have too.|10. Clearly a great place for weddings. ||Definite recommend this lovely place.

My husband and I were so lucky to have stayed here for 3 nights in September and the experience was AMAZING!!! After escaping the smoky air of Granada during a big fire, we pivoted and found ourselves very last minute at the door of Casa La Siesta...And were welcomed so warmly! Each and EVERY one of the staff could not have been kinder and more helpful. The room we stayed in was rustic, comfortable and authentic in the very best way, as was the great room of the finca. Enjoying breakfast in the front garden each morning was HEAVEN and the central courtyard and pool area were both beautiful and insanely charming...And the property as a whole is GORGEOUS!!! We enjoyed going into Vejer de la Frontera each day and were always happy coming back to this little piece of paradise! We hope to have the privilege of coming back again in the future!!! :)

Yelp
If Casa La Siesta isn't the best rural boutique hotel in Andalucia - if not the whole of Spain - I'll eat my hat. Stunning setting, a relaxed, pour-yourself-a-beer sort of feel, huge spacious rooms, horses, and interiors mag centrefold styling. Superb.
