Mérida, Mexico, Is a Favorite Travel Destination Among Locals — How to Visit

"Tucked into a 19th-century state home on Calle 47, I found Casa Lecanda to be an adults-only, luxury oasis in the heart of the city: rooms open onto garden or patio views, a central courtyard pool offers relief from Mérida's heat, and its location on Calle 47 places it on the city's newly designated culinary corridor lined with eateries and bars." - Meagan Drillinger Meagan Drillinger Meagan Drillinger left New York City for a life on the road. This hotel has been the highlight of our trip! Beautiful rooms, calm, welcoming, sooo clean, very helpful staff, great location, perfect refreshing pool, staff can help you organise transportation / great tours and a few areas to relax in after exploring Mérida or the surrounding areas for the day! Close to all of the nice restaurants / bars and the market. We stayed here over the day of the dead period and saw beautiful celebrations from the hotel rooftop (soon to be open). Even when thousands of locals were watching the carnival, the hotel was still peaceful and quiet. Thank you so much for having us. We will be back!

The service is second to none. The most helpful friendliest staff that speak great English which makes things so much easier. The rooms are well presented and very clean. Plenty of great bars and restaurants within walking distance.

It pains me to write this review because we specifically found and stayed at this hotel for our wedding. Unfortunately, while we were there in the days before our wedding started, $1,200 USD went missing from our bags. The hotel checked the security footage but essentially said they didn’t have coverage in the garden suite, and we left with little confidence they actually looked into the issue or cared about the event. Not to mention, the hotel was under major construction and the hotel did not once inform us in advance. The bar was not open and there were constantly construction workers walking through the hotel for our entire stay.

Lovely small hotel in the center of Merida. Very well-located with close proximity to numerous restaurants and bars in the beautiful center of the city. Professional and very accommodating staff. Beautiful patio area, pleasant in-house. Delicious, well-prepared breakfast. Highly recommended.

This place is a must, lovely hotel, staff going the extra mile from check inn, restaurant, bell boys etc. This is a 9 room hotel so you feel at home all time, surroundings are walkable with a pizza restaurant and a bakery just around the corner, will go back for sure.

Excellent hotel - would stay here again in a heartbeat. Everything was good: location, room, service, and AMAZING breakfast (take the menu, it does cost a bit extra but 10000000% worth it). Also would recommend pre-booking (before your stay) a mezcal tasting! Pool is also lovely.

This excellent hotel offers spacious very well-appointed loggia rooms which are high-ceilinged and cool. We received superb friendly service at all times with plenty of areas to relax and a refreshing pool. The breakfast was served with elegance and style.

You know when you love a place so much that you want to write the perfect review? Then you delay so long cause you are worried that you won't be able to do so? Perfection is the enemy of action, no?||We loved this place. I spent many an hour reviewing options in Merida to stay, and I doubt that I will ever stay elsewhere after enjoying Lecanda!||The rooms are exceptional, but the service is the real star of the show. Like a cocktail? check, they'll make you a great one. Love breakfast? check, they'll prepare and serve you in style! Need a tour, etc.? They'll organize a private tour that will be better than you could have done so yourself.||The location in town seemed great. The nearby retail was updated and nice, and other parts of the town were all within reasonable walking distance.||It really felt as if we were living inside a movie set (in the best way possible). A really memorable stay!

Yelp
My wife and I stayed at Casa Lecanda for my 50th birthday trip in March, 2021. The hotel is conveniently located about 2 minutes walking from Paseo de Montejo and about 14 minutes from the Centro Historico (Cathedral, Palace, main plaza). It is a boutique hotel with only 7 rooms that are named rather than numbered. They offer free parking and a free breakfast which includes fruit, yogurt, granola, bread, coffee, and juice. It is excellent and was enough for us most days but they do also offer other full breakfast meal items like eggs, bacon, french toast, etc. for an additional charge. While you are staying there you should also try the Oliva Enoteca restaurant less than a block away. It was one of our favorite meals of the trip. We really can't say enough about Casa Lecanda - the rooms were spacious, the service impeccable, and the location very convenient. We'll definitely be back!
