Oh. My. Goodness. We loved Casa Leopoldo. Food divine, service by everyone, especially Vincent, superb. A delightful restaurant tucked away, we really enjoyed our night out. Complimentary limoncello before we left topped it off.

Food was really really good, specifically the shishito peppers, oxtail croquettes, braised leek, and the mushroom and black garlic paella. Unfortunately, I have to take off several stars for some service issues: - I booked the Toros room (large cavernous room with beautiful tiles) and the day of they changed my room to the main room. I figured they were light on reservations and were trying to use as few rooms as possible. The Toros room was still used and multiple parties were sat there. Not sure why they changed my reservation. - They advertise jazz every Sunday. We walk in during when the jazz is supposed to be playing to find no jazz. The server explained this was the first Sunday they never had jazz because they didn’t book an act. - There were two other tables in the restaurant when we walked in and they sat us directly next to one of those tables even though there were several tables open where all parties could have had space and privacy while the restaurant wasn’t busy yet. - We practically had to beg to leave. We had to ask for the check twice and after finally receiving it and waiting I had to walk up to the bar to pay or else we never would have left. The whole process took probably twenty minutes.

We had a wonderful meal. The food was delicious and the service was good. The only remark I have is there were only 2 waiters handling the entire restaurant. Though they were nice and efficient and the restaurant wasn't full, the fact that there were only 2 of them, affected the service. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful meal.

Google
Emblematic restaurant with > 100 years of history. Great traditional local cuisine with a variety of Spanish and Catalán dishes. We come back for sure!

You need to try this place! There are no words for their hospitality, kindness, so refreshing. There is space for privacy, for a good chat with the amazing staff. I spent my birthday dinner here. Could not have had a better experience! The food is so warm, kind to your stomach. So delightful! Please order a Caipiroska and the croquetas! Much love from Portugal!

Google
Absolutely amazing food and service. The best food we enjoyed in Barcelona. Our waiter was absolutely amazing and gave great recommendations. Highly recommend and will be back if we are ever in Barcelona.

Yelp
The buttata salad was very good and so were. Really good steak , very juicy . My husband had a large piece of cod and he was able to substitute his side dish. I really enjoyed the mussels. A large portion and very tasty!

Yelp
Loved it! One of my favorite experiences this last time in Barcelona. I have this friend and former colleague who loves history and every time I go there prepares a gastro-tour in the Gothic quarter for me. This time the chosen place was one of those historic restaurants that have been there since forever and was the meeting point of an interesting crowd of painters, writers and artists of all kinds. It is very cool so see the walls adorned not only with bullfighters from other era, but also with pictures of the 'intellectual Catalan and Spaniard celebrities'. You feel transported to other slow motion times where plots were concocted at the same time that the palates were placated with delicious food! My friend and I shared fantastic crispy calamari, got awesome bread (really really great), and shared also a soupy rice with veggies and wild mushrooms with sausage. Do not confuse this type of rice with paella. It has a less sexy look but differently delicious. Very earthy, rice al dente, slowly cooked and very simple. For desert we also shared the tostada with rum. And by rum I mean the whole bottle of rum to soak the sweet bread on! Great service and great atmosphere. Very recommendable.

Yelp
Perhaps it was the night, perhaps we ordered wrong. But this was our worst meal in a week and 20+ restaurants/bars in Barcelona, especially when considering cost vs. value. I had seen very good reviews, but I just didn't think it was good. We had a meat dish (tough, small), fried "prawns" (fried with the shell on so you got none of the fry, teensy tiny after taking the shell off) and oysters (two, very fishy tasting rather than fresh). When returning to Barcelona I would go out of my way to purposefully NOT return here.

Yelp
Where do I start? I want to be fair to my friends and to the restaurant. It is a very old fashioned restaurant. The waiters wear uniforms, and my grandmother would have enjoyed that attention. My first big issue was that our first waiter came and asked us if we were ready to order every 5 minutes. They very clearly wanted to turn the table. In a high caliber place, I find this kind of pressure distasteful. The wine was fine. We got a number of dishes. None of them were great. They were fine, but not anything to write home about. Vegan tribe, this is a a no. Celiac tribe, no. I have regrets, myself. This place caters to a specific crowd. And we are not that crowd.

Yelp
I had a wonderful meal at Casa Leopoldo. Everything was cooked to perfection and the sommelier provided us with an excellent wine choice to pair with our meal.

Yelp
Leopoldo is a Barcelona classic, with simple, unadorned, honest food. Its dominant decorative theme is bullfighting which is delightfully anachronistic and culturally quirky - it would be more at home in Seville. But the food is very, very, very good indeed. The fish is fantastically fresh - for example, recently I had deep-fried baby red mullets which you would just eat whole, and they were insanely good - and the service is very friendly. It's always busy here. You can't go wrong with Leopoldo. Highly recommended.
