I think I was age seven or eight the first time I went to Casa Loma with my parents. Now I find myself, suddenly, in my forties, with the nostalgia flooding in every time we come "home" -- which has been every year since. Not much has changed in terms of its charm and romanticism. Yes, a neighborhood has developed around it, and the golden zone keeps people from straying from the main drag. But Mazatlan wouldn't be Mazatlan without this family owned staple. As a child, I remember a long walk from El Centro into darkness... And then, suddenly, a lively patio, pretty gardens with beautiful foliage, friendly faces, and the best and most memorable meals - to this day. I remember then the food was the best in town and even now it is still the same. Nothing has changed except the world around it. For so long they've maintained the ideals and integrity of their love for food and for Mazatlan. This is hands down the best place to eat anywhere in and around Mazatlan. If you are blessed enough to understand Mazatlan, it's locals and the food, then you have been to Casa Loma. If not, then you haven't been blessed. Muchas gracias, Casa Loma. Recommend: Imperial Shrimp and the Bannnas Flambé! Please get to know the history of Casa Loma and la familia keeping it one of Mazatlan's true gems.
