If I could give 0 stars I would. Never have I seen a staff so committed to making the guests have a poor experience. They have rooms next to the kitchen and to the cleaning supply closet. At 6am they start banging outside of the room, upon kind request to stop, they never apologized and said they need to operate the (empty) restaurant. Then the gardeners at 7am started banging, again we went to ask if they could kindly do that later, they said yes only to have it one minute later redone. I went to reception to complain again, said we would need to change rooms if we were to stay, they said no problem. We tried to get a few hours of sleep, at 12.30 we went to reception to have the room changed and they said we could go to another hotel but we would be charged the entire stay as it was after checkout time. I showed them the messages where they confirmed the room switch, but nothing. The hotel has beautiful crafts textiles in the reception, we tried to book a tour of the indigenous towns with them specifically asking to see this. Again they confirmed it was possible to then book us in the most expensive tourist trap, exploitation at best of the indigenous people paid like actors to perform for tourists. We said we didn’t want the same company, which I came to learn had 3 stars on google, to take us to Palenque the day after. They said they would refund us for the tour, only to take it back the day after. There are a lot of beautiful hotels in San Cristobal, this is only a missed opportunity

My wife, 15 year old son and I spent four nights at the hotel. We had looked at another boutique hotel that had a more traditional look, but decided on Casa Lum because of its more contemporary design. We had a mixed stay, I would say a 3.5 rating. It's a beautiful hotel that is nicely designed, has a great open air courtyard, an open air rooftop deck (would be nice if they left cushions on the furniture), and the location is great if you like to be in the center of the city (it's also on one of the pedestrian streets so there is not a lot of car noise). The restaurant has good food and the hotel does a nice job in trying to help the environment. However, the big drawback for us was the setup of the hotel. It's a combination restaurant/hotel, and the location of rooms (especially the family rooms where we stayed) is literally right beside the outdoor dining area and near the reception and kitchen. The hotel has a large staff, and there is a beehive of activity all day (on two days during breakfast they were pumping out stuff from the kitchen to the street with a large hose that went along the courtyard). To make things worse, the hotel plays very loud music (and the same music all day every day which was jazzy cover songs of Katie Perry and other pop songs). You hear everything from your room (telephones, dishes, staff outside, plumbing work, music, etc.), so for me it was not a relaxing environment that I would typically associate with a small boutique inn. It's a shame because it's a really pleasant environment with flowers, water, nice glass and wood work and a cool vibe. I let the management know about the noise, and I didn't feel they were proactive in trying to figure out other alternatives. They did turn the music off at night when I asked. Generally from 9pm to 7am things quieted down, but it was still not ideal. In general service was pretty good with a hard working and for the most part nice staff, though the rules are quite rigid and they sort of nickel and dime you (we had breakfast included but the waiter said only 2 were included so we inquired more and the manager agreed it was for all of us, and they offered small sweet rolls at breakfast and then after told us they were additional charge). The two person rooms aren't right beside the courtyard, so perhaps those are better. We still had a nice stay and it certainly is a good hotel, but I wouldn't stay again because of the location of the rooms and the overall noise level.

[ Casa Lum ]|Having started visiting Mexico frequently 10 years ago, and then living here for the last 4 and a half years I have been lucky enough to visit many parts of this fascinating country. I have not found one that I did not really like.||Last week my wife and I spent 5 days in the charming city of San Cristobal de las Casas and the highlight of our visit was our stay at Casa Lum in calle Rincon de Guadalupe. It is a compact hotel in a building of some age which is very well maintained and the space put to optimal use, including a herbal garden in a cute courtyard right outside our room.||The team of employees there - and they are very much a tight-knit, committed and well organized team - made hospitality a fine art. Service was always crisp, efficient and friendly. And the food? World class! My favourites were the ceviche and a chocolate creme brulee, which are to die for. Upon seeing the latter on the menu I had my doubts as the traditional creme brulee is a favourite of mine. But my weakness for chocolate lead me to what is surely one of the best desserts I have had anywhere in the whole wide world. ||It is located in the heart of the action, and the chairs and tables set up outside on the narrow pavement were the ideal location, when there was ample shade, to while away an hour or two watching the fascinating, cosmopolitan world outside go by. ||Casa Lum in my humble opinion is deserving of at least 5 stars.

We visited the restaurant.. Beautiful presentation of the food. Banana empanadas were perfect. Green salad with fruits and goat cheese was delicious. Very friendly service and the place is so beautiful with a green patio and calm music. Thank you so much ❤️

I’ve been at Casa Lum for lunch while visiting San Cristobal. It’s perfectly located in the pedestrian section of Real de Guadalupe and offers an amazing contemporary cuisine rooted in tradition. As it was September, I had the chile en nogada and it was absolutely delicious. One of the best I tried. In addition, the staff is very professional and always willing to help. Lisandro, in particular, was great and gave me an excellent suggestion for a Mexican red wine. Definitely recommended
