Made our stay extra special and accommodated our Mama Linda (Mother) in getting to and from the hotel as she had a hard time walking up stairs. Each staff member was truly caring and delightful to work with. They came up with a solution and hospitality that we will not forget. The views of the Bay from the hotel either front or back was amazing and very close to all the down town place to experience. We would recommend it to other and we will back to enjoy it our selves as it was a wonderful and relaxing experience. Thank you to the staff for making it a memorable experience for us and Mama Linda!

We spent the last night of our trip at Casa Madrona. We specifically chose this hotel for its boutique charm, peaceful location outside busy San Francisco, and beautiful setting near the marina — and it certainly delivered. The hotel is located within walking distance of shops and restaurants; we had an excellent dinner at Barrel House Tavern with incredible views of San Francisco — highly recommended. We booked a basic Upper Courtyard room (number 475 — worth remembering). The room was clean, nicely decorated, with a comfortable bed and a touch of sea view. The large bathtub for two was a lovely surprise and made for a relaxing evening. At first, the bathtub stopper didn’t work properly and we couldn’t fill the tub, but the issue was resolved very quickly after we reported it — great service. The bathroom included amenities tailored for women — such as make-up remover wipes — which we found thoughtful and useful. However, there was one major issue: noise. The room is adjacent to an electrical utility and laundry room, which resulted in constant mechanical humming — like being on an airplane. It got worse in the morning. This is not what one expects at a hotel of this standard. To their credit, the front desk staff kindly waived our parking fee as a gesture of goodwill. Overall, the hotel is beautifully situated, well-designed, and has friendly staff. We would recommend it — but definitely advise against staying in room 475 due to the noise.

Google
The hotel is nice and has a few things that are walkable. I'm not giving five stars because we paid $520 for the one night plus the $100 pet fee and this place has no amenities other than a spa that cost to go to. The room didn't even have a microwave, no breakfast. We booked the harborview king room that had a balcony. It was nice enough, but the huge trees in front of the property. You could only see the harbor if you looked to your far left or far left or right. Nothing directly in front of you. Staff was nice. We would probably come back maybe in the slow season. The room wasn't worth what we paid.

We stayed for just one night for a quick getaway. The service was great, staff was welcoming and helpful. The room was clean, elegant, spacious. We also had a nice view of the water. The morning after the staff at the reception was friendly and recommended a couple of breakfast options, we picked one of the two and were super happy. The location of course is the best if you are looking for a place near the center with easy access to all the services and entertainment. We had a brief interaction with the hotel manager who was responsive, helpful, and friendly. Highly recommend.

I was only In Sausalito for one night and was lucky enough to stay here. From the Front Desk staff to personnel at Poggio, the employees were friendly and professional. I ate both meals at Poggio. And the food and value were great. My room did not have a water view or a great view at all. The tv was a weird angle from the sofa, but the bed was comfortable and the property was quiet.

Our recent stay at Casa Madrona was a significant disappointment, particularly given the expensive price we paid to stay over the long weekend. The issue was the stark contrast between our assigned room and the images showcased on the hotel's website. We booked a “courtyard view” and the website promises a walkout to a shared courtyard space where one can enjoy for its and other amenities. We had expected a bright, inviting space (as pictured on the site), but instead, we were given a room with one tiny window that offered nothing more than a view of another cement wall. It felt incredibly claustrophobic and certainly not the experience we were led to believe we would have. To make matters worse, the customer service was incredibly unhelpful. Upon realizing the discrepancy, we immediately tried to change rooms, explaining our dissatisfaction with the view and the misleading website representation. However, our request was flat-out denied, with no real attempt to accommodate us or offer an alternative solution. This lack of flexibility and willingness to address a guest's legitimate concerns was incredibly frustrating, especially considering the premium we paid for the stay. Unfortunately we were ultimately disappointed with our stay.

We have stayed at this property multiple times. In the past a bit quirky, well located, clean rooms, nice views and multiple steps. This trip our room was in the Mansion and the only aspect mansion like was a dungeon, overpriced as well. The room was a hike to get to, located next to the exterior stairway. The only windows were facing the stairway, so we could get neither sunlight or fresh air. Not my idea is a $700/ night stay. Filled out a survey and have not heard anything from management.

Hands down one of my favorite hotel stays I've had in a long time. I grew up in Sausalito and recently visited with my family. The location, quality of the accommodations, and in particular the staff are what set it apart. We'll be back anytime we visit!

Yelp
This hotel is amazing. Elegant hillside cottages with gorgeous, chic grounds and unmatched views of bay. Beyond the hotel itself, and best of all, was the genuinely caring staff team. What a great intimate experience. From the moment of arrival we were treated as if we were the only guests. Jim and Austin were incredibly helpful, kind and responsive - and always available to ensure we were comfortable and enjoying our visit. Also want to mention the valet Jacob who was very kind and helpful too. I cannot say enough about our stay, the service, the facilities or the experience. 10star.

Yelp
Terrible customer service provided by front desk. Upon entering our room, I knew immediately this was not the room I booked. My reservation noted the room I booked was a "Hillside Cottage Suite". I called the front desk and it was the guy who checked me in and he lacked customer service skills as a front desk agent. When I went down to get my keys, he just handed them to me and did not explain where the room was so we had to ask the parking attendants who were kind enough to show us where to go. The room was nice and fairly clean besides a couple hairs dried onto hand towels. Around 10 pm, there was some noise outside from things being dumped into something and conversation. When we went to check out, the told us we had $100 upgrade fee. This was not explained when they gave us the room we originally reserved. Again, the agent and the guest services manager did not seem apologetic of the situation. They said the room rate code transferred over as a "Hillside Cottage". I understand this can happen if not booked directly as I've worked in a sales office at a hotel before. What I don't understand is the lack of compassion and empathy and the actual blame I felt they put on me for not booking directly. The guest services manager finally told me they can cut the upgrade fee in half but not give us the full $100 refund because we got a "jr suite" which is actually better than the "cottage suite". I knew he was lying because the photos matched the photos of the cottage suite, but I just wanted to get out of there at that point because it was just becoming a displeasing situation. Absolutely will not be staying here again.

Yelp
Amazing and beautiful! Luxurious hotel with nice amenities. Very comfortable bed. Very large bathroom with a large and wonderful tub and spacious shower. Nice robes and slippers! Friendly staff. A must stay in Sausalito!

Yelp
Gave us room 201 that looked like it was located in a back alley and it was freezing cold. The layout was weird. Heater was above the bed and made a lot of noise so it was hard to fall asleep. The fireplace didn't warm up the room so we were cold during our stay. There were also ants in the bathroom. Not sure if we'll be back as there are other hotels in the area to try next time. Pictures online was a bit deceiving. We didn't want to complain as we were just there for an overnight and it could have impacted our already great vacation. I have a feeling we were treated this way because we booked on a 3rd party site and not through their site which would have been even pricier. You live you learn.

Yelp
We had such a lovely experience at Casa Madrona. We discovered this hotel from Passport Heavy's Youtube channel & wanted to check it out. My fiancé treated me to Napa for my birthday & we stayed here for two nights. The location is pretty central in Sausalito. There are tons of restaurants in walking distance from the property. It is a little difficult to find the parking lot. However, the front desk provides maps to help you navigate. We were on the top floor so we actually had to walk all of our luggage up the stairs. The hotel is very unique and has some hidden seating areas with fountains for you to relax outside. The room was spacious and provided us with a view of the marina. The water pressure in the shower was perfect. They also provided us with a complimentary bottle of bubbles. Casa Madrona is also about an hour from Napa Valley which was extremely convenient for our wine tasting & dinner reservations. I would definitely recommend this property!

Yelp
Amazing service! I got a room with a balcony and view. Front desk staff were super professional, kind, and accommodating. They all looked so sharp, too! The ambience is great! Super clean and staff are so friendly. It's a bit of a challenge to find your room at first, but it's part of the fun! 10/10 would recommend to those who don't mind taking a small dent to their wallet

Yelp
This hotel is beautiful. We were treated by the most friendly staff. First the gentleman out front was full of smiles and warm greetings(wish I had caught his name), but on duty 2/18 and 2/19 earlier in the day. Then Deverrick (sorry if it's misspelled) also full of smiles and genuine, warm friendliness. I'd come back just for the staff, but the hotel was also very very nice. Huge room with a four poster bed and huge flat screen tv. We had a balcony to sit and watch the rain. Such a pretty view to wake up to also. Great in room coffee, huge luxurious bathtub. We just loved it. Also, there wow steam room in the women's and men's locker rooms that I wish I had prepared for. Can't recommend this hotel enough! Thank you for an impeccable stay.

Yelp
Great location and spacious and well maintained rooms. Also thoroughly enjoyed my massage. The staff were very attentive and friendly. There were lots of stairs so it was not the most stroller friendly, but they compensate with a car service to your room and help unloading. We will definitely be back in the future.

Yelp
We always have a lovely time during our stay at Casa Madrona! This time, we came back with my baby girl and we had the best time and the staff was absolutely one of the best parts of the stay!

We adore Casa Madrona. Beautiful views, peaceful, and in the heart of Sausalito. All different styles of rooms, which makes it an adventure every time!

Yelp
I booked this hotel in hopes of getting a little R&R after a long week. When we walked in we weren't greeted with any warmth at all, in fact it felt like we were a bit of an imposition to the front desk team. I booked a room with the impression our room might have some view, or there was a public space to enjoy the view, but neither were correct. Unless you book a balcony you will not have a bay view. Also the beautiful pictures of a view with a fire pit? Off limits unless you book their event space. Good to know. Also good to know was the fact I had to drag my heavy suitcase up a few flights of stairs to get to my room. The room itself was nice, the bed was very comfortable. The shower never had hot water, even after asking for assistance. We were also provided one towel for a room with a king bed. Overall, the stay was ok, but I feel that they lean in on the nice parts of the hotel with views which isn't representative of what is available. Maybe the advertising could be clearer? They did provide water and snacks in the room which was a nice touch, but for the price, and the resort fee (for what?), I'm not sure the product justified the cost.

Yelp
Excellent location, across from the water. Awesome view of the SF Bay; this hotel is walking distance to a lot of shops and restaurants. Plenty of street parking -3 hr parking limit between 9 and 6p and Tues, Thurs and Sat --no paring between 4-7am. The hotel was clean and modern. Staff was extremely pleasant and gave us a nice room with a bay view. We also had a nice balcony with couple of outdoor chaise. Nice hotel curtains, we slept like babies. My only suggestion would be to have more available sockets that are close to the bed, maybe changing their bathroom tiles as it looks worn and putting the trash can in the toilet room where it should be. Overall, will definitely stay here again!

Yelp
While they did a good job to enhance the hotel and the rooms to transform from motel to hotel, I was extremely disappointed by the loud AC I had to turn off at night and overheat because of this, and loud weird sounding fridge that would turn on and off randomly. The bed is not comfortable either. Lastly, the reason why I even went out of my way to write this review is because they need to train staff - WHY are you knocking on my door for housekeeping 5+ times from 8am until checkout when checkout is at 11am? I have been woken up multiple times and door has even opened to come into my room (but they saw my bag and closed the door). Turning over and cleaning your rooms before the time you even need to is more important than guest comfort and sleeping, which is the purpose of actually paying for this room?

Yelp
I was so excited to stay here! I booked the "Hillside Cottage" room. You can see in the pictures attached what I thought the room was going to look like vs. what we actually got. I know they said the rooms could vary, but our room looked NOTHING like what was advertised. I called the front desk, and their solution was to offer me more towels... no I don't care about having more towels, I'd rather have a discount? This room was not worth the $500 a night, they should have accurate pictures as the room we got should have been more like $200/$300. You can tell by the pic, the room had NO view of the ocean at all, even though they called it a "partial view". SO disappointed.

Yelp
I was so excited to stay here; a "luxurious" hotel, in one of my favorite cities, we paid extra for a "private" hillside cottage suite, it was going to be a quiet, serene and relaxing getaway. Unfortunately, it was anything but... When checking in, the front desk asked me if I needed help with ours bags so I asked him where the room was. He explained you take the elevator to the 4th floor and then walk up 2 flights to the cottage so I knew with a carload of items I would need help, which I'm glad he offered! We get to the room and start checking things out, the bathroom was alright, nice big tub but one of those cold European showers, and the windows looked dingy but it was ok. The living room space was ok, nice big window with a beautiful view of the bay, but tiny and hard little couch, and then a small mini square fridge. I had packed some food assuming in a cottage suite we might have more of a half-sized fridge where we could store some food as we were staying for 4 days - apparently not. The deck was the best part, I would've stayed out there all day until I heard the upstairs cottage check in and oh, look, they're right above me staring down at me. The lady like 4 feet away says hello and tries chatting with me for a bit - so awkward! I'm sorry, I'm here to get away and relax and there is someone right above me? Mind you, when I called the hotel to book this room I was sold on the very expensive upgrade because it was a private cottage not attached to the main house. They should have mentioned you are attached to a cottage right above you. The room was fine, decent sized room, Nespresso in the room for coffee, nice views - the room was good. That was until we took as nice afternoon nap (for those of you with kids, you know this is a vacation only kinda thing) and just as we were dozing off THUMP THUMP THUMP! The family upstairs had young children and they were playing out on the deck - their wood deck was our ceiling!!! Oh no... my husband looked and me and we both just shook our head. So... no nap. And I get it, we have kids too, you want to let them play but I would have NEVER booked that room knowing the deck above was our ceiling. Oh also, I mentioned there was a nespresso but there were no mugs! I get because of COVID that services are restricted (no room cleaning) but don't take the coffee mugs! We made coffee in those dinky little plastic cups that felt like they were going to melt through. Very luxurious For the next 2 days we tried to be out of the room as much as possible, just tried to enjoy the city and good local seafood. But 2 ruined naps and 2 early mornings was enough, we decided to cut our trip a day short. I'd rather be home than staying in this hotel. I had tried to call on our first day there and was told the manager would call me back about the room issue but they never did. So when I called to check out a day early the manager was there, I explained the issues we had and that I had called the day before, she explained that since I had pre-paid that she would be able to refund me the day we were not staying which I would assume is expected, why would I pay for a night I'm not there? Ok, rant over, but seriously, unless you're wanting to throw your money away, don't care about a fancy hotel and just want the good location - don't stay here!

Yelp
Just tried The Spa at Casa Madrona today for the first time. Loved it. Kyle was fantastic, the room was clean, the vibe was great, the outdoor zen area was super nice, and the facilities were nice and clean inside. I will be back! Free parking too!

Tony L.

Yelp
Great location in Sausalito with friendly and helpful staff. Unfortunately we stayed in one of the cottages at the top of the hill which is about 8 flights of stairs above the main building, it's about five flights of stairs above the upper parking lot that you have to go down a super steep driveway to get to. I would recommend staying on the top floor in the main building facing the street My wife and I got a great massage there , unfortunately I did not realize you are not supposed to exercise after a massage and I had to climb eight flights of stairs to get to our cottage, My calves are still killing me. At a hotel should know better and provide a shuttle after a massage. Thank you, Tony

Yelp
Casa Madrona is a wonderful boutique hotel in Sausalito, located extremely close to the heart of Sausalito's main tourist area and boasts amazing views of the Bay. We walked around the hotel, which goes extremely high up the hill with many different styles of rooms and mansion suites. We got a top floor ocean view room with spectacular views off the outdoor balcony of Tiburon, Angel Island, Alcatraz, and SF! We were lucky to get a room during COVID times and felt pretty safe in the room. The hotel provides many sanitizer stations and encourages face mask wearing. Our room was extremely clean upon arrival. The bed was clean and comfortable, the bathroom was luxurious, and the balcony, although small, was cozy and enjoyable to sit and take in the views. We sat outside on the balcony to sightsee, eat snacks, drink wine, work, and read. A few not so pleasant things - The check-in process took extremely long, mainly because the person infront took a long time. Several times coming in and out of the hotel, there wasn't much greeting from front desk people, which is okay, but not extremely warm. Also, no breakfast or snacks were provided. Not sure if that's normal for this hotel or just due to COVID. The internet connection in our room was not that great. I had trouble connecting at first and it was somewhat spotty. Overall, we had a great, quiet, and peaceful stay. It is definitely a special hotel to indulge in Sausalito.

Yelp
I was traveling with our 9 month old, clearly carrying a rolling suitcase and his stroller. Our room was located up a small staircase that required me to leave my baby in my room while I carried his stroller up and down. The front desk did not inform me of this obstacle upon arrival so I did not preemptively ask for help and to traverse down to the first floor from the fourth floor with everything in tow to ask for help was too much. There was no elevator to this room, as pictured below. Then, later that evening, the elevator broke down and I had to carry my baby down to the first floor from the fourth floor to get my food order. While I was waiting for the order, another couple came in with a baby. They asked if their room would have a separate seating area with a wall for their infant so they could allow the baby to sleep. Kaylee (not sure of the spelling) at the front desk was unable to fully answer this and just said "I think so." She was clearly overwhelmed with other things, so I understand her response that brushed the couple off, but the couple also deserved her time and attention. I share this because this is the second family with a baby who stayed the same time I did. We were not accommodated at all and were not given complete information at the front desk about our room situations. We ended up changing hotels for our second night. We were not refunded for this second night (we were only requesting second night refund). Very disappointed with the way the hotel did not take ownership for this. I highly recommend staying elsewhere if you are traveling with family or if you need specific accommodations. They do not personalize anyone's experience and there are too many idiosyncrasies in the hotel to overcome.

Yelp
Just got to say this hotel is in the most nicest location and definitely located conveniently to all the shops in town. I booked a room with a full balcony . Room was picturesque and was a cute beach town with stairs straight into the streets. My only heavy complaint ...the front desk receptionist who was extremely cold and rude. Her name i believe is Kayla , perhaps having a bad day. Hopefully things turnaround for her and things get better so guests will have a more smoother visit. Hotel is dog friendly too! Great view!

Regina C.

Yelp
So underwhelming. Upon checking in I went to my room. I was disappointed that the room only had one small window that was obscured by a giant plant. I went down and spoke to the manager and asked for a different room. He said this room is what I booked. However, I found it hard to believe that for $500 a night a garden room is one with a small window. He said he could change my room for an additional charge and the only other option he gave me without an additional charge was an ADA room facing the street and very noisy. The manager kept asking to see my booking and quite frankly I really didn't see the point behind that the reality is I was a guest pink full rack rate, and I was unhappy with my room. Shouldn't the manager try and make me happy? The room was nothing like it was offered, and as you can see from the photo attached, the view was abysmal. The managers attitude was really the most disappointing, and he did absolutely nothing to try and appease me with the exception of offering me a different room for additional money.

Diana R.

Yelp
I'm laying in this room now and can hear every single noise. The air conditioner sound has a constant buzz with no cool air. Our bathroom switches don't work. None of them. I can hear everyone coming up these steps right outside our room. And the view that ever room has? If you look out to the very corner you will find the view. For the price I expected way more. Bummed on my first wedding anniversary. What a bust for the price.

Yelp
We were hoping for a nice, relaxing stay but found things to be just a bit more challenging than at other hotels at this price point. Everything is a bit fend-for-yourself from a service and amenities perspective. There is no valet parking. When we checked in, we were told that we can purchase a $35 parking pass for the public parking lot but that we probably wouldn't find a spot and would need to look for street parking. No room service/in-room dining. However, we did easily get a great meal quite quickly at Poggio next door. The room and balcony were lovely, but the bed was very uncomfortable (hard mattress, squeaky). Overall, very pretty public spaces, nice rooms and gorgeous views, but I usually expect basic things like parking and dining to be a bit easier at this price point.

Yelp
My Wife and I Came up for the weekend and our first night stay was excellent. When we arrived on Friday, we did not get the best welcoming from Concierge, but it's so beautiful in Sausalito, it is hard to complain. I woke up on Saturday and was greeted by Myra at the front desk, she was so warm, nice and welcoming. She directed me to the restaurant down stairs. In return for her kindness I bought her a cup of Coffee. We spoke briefly about my first impression on Friday. Maybe about 30 mins later she sent a care package to our room with chocolates and a bottle of wine. Mayra is the reason why we will continue to stay at this hotel for many years to come. She made me feel welcomed and appreciated. Great Job Myra, Mr. Goldberg

Rakhi K.

Yelp
Paid over $1100 for 2 nights not including $35 a day for parking. Marketed as a luxury experience, but quite the opposite. Property is dated. The staff is not welcoming. Cottages need to be upgraded and deep cleaned. Size of room and location are good, but not with this price, this is not a luxury experience. Random things wouldn't work in the hotel and the heat with turn off and on with a massive noise, we left completely unrested.

Yelp
The hotel is nice, great location in Sausalito. Rooms are spacious. BUT, the bed is hell. I prefer the soft side, but I can't even characterize the bed as hard - I sat down and it felt like there was a sheet over a pile of collapsed cardboard boxes. No give, lumpy, and immensely uncomfortable to sleep on. Sad for a hotel billing itself as a Spa.

Yelp
A hidden gem on the hillside of Sausalito, I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Casa Madrona for a few days for a meeting. This small hotel, which you could easily miss while driving down the street, has distinctly boutique vibes, with all the good and bad that connotes. The good: the rooms are lovely and spacious with updated interiors. There are two sections- an older side on the hillside and a newer side, but both rooms look up to date. The bathroom featured both a shower and a full size tub which I partook in every evening. Amenities and accessories were well stocked and of good quality. My room faced the inner courtyard but I heard the rooms on the 4th floor facing the bay had spectacular views. Having Poggios on site and accessible from within the hotel was a definite bonus, especially for hosting meetings. Good food + convenience = hard to beat! Likewise, the food catered to our meeting room inside the hotel was much better than most hotel catering I've experienced in the past. The salads in particular were delicious and did not leave me feeling drowsy for the afternoon sessions. The not as good: the configuration of the hotel made it somewhat cumbersome to get from one place to another. The stairwells often popped me outside the hotel onto the street when I was simply trying to find the front desk or the spa. The elevators are not the most expeditious either, so just be prepared to leave a few minutes earlier to get to your destination. The meeting rooms are on the smaller side and separated by room partitions which are not perfectly sound proofed, in case privacy is of concern. We were able to squeeze 30 participants into one of the rooms and use the adjoining room for our food/snack area. The extras: We also got a chance to partake in a chair massage at the on-site spa, which was nice but pricey for what you get. I probably wouldn't fork over my own money at this spa. Overall I would recommend this hotel for your next visit to Sausalito or for a small-medium size meeting.

Jay T.

Yelp
Seriously disappointed with this place. Paper thin walls. Could hear conversation coming from next door until 2 am. We could hear everything going on in the street. Barely slept due to all the noise. They charged me $35 for "valet parking" to self park in the public parking lot across the street. Parking there is in fact free after 6 pm until 9 am the next day. Seriously? With a room rate over $550, they had to squeeze another 35 from me? Total after tax and "resort fee" came to $714.52 for one night. Never again.

Yelp
I made a last-minute reservation for a king-size room that says 400sqf on the website. I'm here right now, and the room is as big as a bed. It is facing a courtyard and is dark, not just small. The fact that none of the common areas has a view is more depressing. Cherry on top the spa is closed, I couldn't make any reservation worst than this to relax this weekend. Any regular hotel in the area was better than our experience right now. Btw why the charge resort fee?????? There are zero amenities here.

The 1st time my husband and I stayed here it was really great. This time around was the total opposite, and we were very disappointed. The hotel is in a great location, but I can't justify spending $1,200 for 2 nights + having to pay $70 for parking for 2 days for the following reasons: * I believe we were in room 102 which is the worse location. The walls are super thin. As we were trying to sleep, we could hear all the street noise, people walking along the pathway, and the people above us and their every step. This room also has no privacy except if you put the blind out curtains down because anyone walking by has clear view of the bed! * It was late and the people above us were super loud and they started to smoke weed which seeped through our room and was very strong. My husband called front desk to let them know which after about 15 minutes we noticed they went inside their room. However, the weed smell lingered on for awhile which made it very unpleasant as we were trying to sleep. * The beds and pillows are VERY uncomfortable! The bed is hard and lumpy and the pillows were hard and thick that we ended up having back and neck pain the next morning. I slept maybe 4 hours off/on. * Everything about the room looks outdated. Truthfully, there are 2-3 star hotels that look better than this. We made the decision to leave earlier the next day after our experience sleeping on the bed. We did not want a repeat of the evening on our 2nd night. It was unfortunate, as it was a complete waste of money but it was not worth it for us to make our back and neck worse!

Yelp
We literary were greeted with such professional, kind and welcoming gentlemen. Austin and Daverick were exceptional. Thank you for making our special anniversary so nice! Highly recommend this stay. Perfect location and incredibly clean.

Yelp
Great location but the hotel is tired, for paying same rates as 4/5 star hotels with none of the amenities not sure I'd stay here again. Front desk could have been friendlier, then when asking for some room service items of wine/cheese never got them. Spa was closed while we were there. Hotel just seems tired as the rooms do too. Location was good for walking everywhere though.

Yelp
The only thing amazing about this hotel is location. I asked 4 times for a rollaway and was placated every time. 11:13pm I again called for a rollaway. Am I supposed to sleep on the floor? Wow. Customer service is a thing of the past and I have been coming here for years. So sad. Also no more valet.

Yelp
I'm sure your experience would be vastly different, depending on which part of this hotel you will stay in. My girlfriend and I stayed on the historic side, where the lobby is. It now looks newer than the newer side because of a renovation. We stayed in a cottage, Room 600. The (partial) view of the bay was great. The room, including the bathroom, was not very big but very clean. The only issue with the room was that it's extremely cold. We stayed here in late November. The hard wood floors in the bedroom and the tiles in the bathroom were always VERY cold. There's only a small heater in the room, it did not help at all. I live in the Pacific Northwest and I'm used to a cold weather, but I dreaded to take a shower! This is a beautiful property with an easy access to the ferries to San Francisco (3 minute walk). There's a restaurant and a spa on site. Also, there are a number of restaurants and shops near the hotel. IF YOU DECIDE TO STAY, I recommend that you contact the hotel and make it clear what your preferences/needs are so that they can put you in a room that's most suitable for your specific situation. For example, you would not want to stay in the room we stayed (Cottage #600) if you have a mobility issue. The elevator in the historic building only goes up to 4th floor. So, you would have to walk up quite a few steps (outside) to the 6th floor. I would definitely stay here again, but I would spend more time picking out the right room for me next time. ****************************** If you found something useful in my review, please hit "useful." Yelp
My wife and I really enjoyed the Casa Madrona. We booked a Harbor View King on the 3rd floor - great location, room was super clean and the views were to die for. Having coffee on the small balcony on a beautiful morning, looking at the bay finished the visit. The staff was warm and friendly and we ordered the whiskey package where we ended up bringing it back home with us to try another day. The hotel is in a great location for exploring Sausalito or just hanging out. We really enjoyed our short stay and plan on returning in the future.

Yelp
The location could not be sweeter, central to everything (even a early morning jog to the Golden Gate lookout). The hotel is historic, with extensive renovations to give the hotel and rooms a charming feel. The rooms have comfortable beds, but are on the small sideband feel cramped. There are lots of nice nooks and crannies and fountains spread around the hotel, do explore. It can be a maze to get from one side to the other or find your way to the reception, but life is an adventure right? The staff is friendly and happy to help. Parking is valet only (though in the night if you need to use your car they'll give you the key and tell you where to find it). Finally you are not at the Madrona because you wanted to save on hotel rates. :)

Yelp
Cute boutique hotel right in the middle of Sausalito. We stayed in a Hillside Cottage w/Balcony that overlooked the little boat harbor. Check in went flawlessly and they even allowed us to check in early, which was a nice unexpected surprise! The front desk gave us different options to get to our room (all of which did require stairs but we didn't mind, we thought it added to the hillside charm) The hotel offers valet parking which was $33/nt (price as of Spring 2019 -- although I think their website incorrectly stated valet at $30/nt, not sure if they have updated the website since our stay) and the valet guys were very nice and attentive. We did leave the hotel one morning at the crack of dawn and there was only an overnight front desk associate who wasn't insured to retrieve our car so she told us where it was located and handed us the keys) The walls were thin, to the point where we heard our neighbors come "home" late one night but we were in bed pretty early so we were hopeful we didn't disrupt anyone with our giggles, wine sipping, and tv watching. Other than hearing their door open we didn't hear anything else! Our walk in shower/toilet area had pocket/sliding doors that seemed to have come off its tracks a few times when we attempted to close and lock the door but it wasn't too terrible. I'm tempted to stay in one of their other hillside cottage rooms because when you're walking up and down the stairs area, you can catch a glimpse of an unoccupied room that has its shades up and they are just too cute!

Yelp
I am totally perplexed about how this place can possibly justify charging $400 a night. I am a Bay Area local who just started coming to Sausalito every other month to go to the voiceover studio down the street on Bridgeway for weekend seminars. Not wanting to drive 4 hours over the weekend, I was looking for a place to have a nice overnight staycation a few times a year. Unfortunately, this was not that place. I'm not picky but this was bad. Here's what happened: 1) I booked on Hotels.com which advertised that this place had a full spa. This was the only reason I could even halfway justify paying $400 a night and I was excited to come early enough to spend some time in the spa. When I got here I learned the spa was being remodeled and has not been available for over a year. No one so much as apologized or offered to refund the 7% "resort fee." (What is this "resort fee" for when there is no spa or resort?) There was no apology about any of this and the staff acted as if I somehow should have known about the renovations. Which I didn't, but okay, I thought, maybe that's hotels.com's fault. 2) The room was very nice. But definitely not $400 nice. It had one tiny window overlooking a stairwell. 3) I ordered room service which consisted of one glass of wine and a cup of pudding. It took over an hour for it to arrive. They apparently had to "hunt down" the valet after 45 minutes as he had picked it up a half hour before. This wasn't very comforting information. Again, no apology, no free glass of wine, nuthin. I would expect more from a hotel charging this much. 4) The renovation around my room was super messy and crazy looking and potentially hazardous. There was just random lumber thrown around in the stairwells. I went down the stairs to my room to try to get out and almost tripped over a pile of wood. This continued all the way down the stairs. Then on the second floor there was yellow caution tape blocking the stairwell so I could not get down to street level and had to go back upstairs and find the elevator. Spent the rest of the night trying not to think about what I would do if there was a fire or something. This was probably the part that bothered me most. I am not a super picky guest but the thing is that I was paying over $400 a night, and NONE of this is in line with what I would expect from a hotel this expensive. The worst part was the total indifference of the staff to all these problems. Really disappointed as this location is walkable to the studio and the room was nice. I hope they can fix some of these problems in the future.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. The location is perfect, in the middle of all restaurants and shops. The view from our bedroom was stunning. We stayed here two nights for our anniversary and glad we paid a little extra for a nice hotel. I only wished their spa was open, we would of booked a reservation. The gentlemen outside helping with the luggage and parking permits was very friendly and very helpful. It was greatly appreciated.

Yelp
We had a lovely stay here. We stayed in one of the mansion suites. Spacious accommodations with an amazing view of Richardson Bay. I didn't want to leave. The bed was very comfortable. It was quiet and relaxing. Would definitely stay here again. A a couple of hiccups. What had a very difficult time finding our room. Signage would be nice. I think the biggest thing for me and this might sound petty but the shampoo that they provide is the absolute worst shampoo I've ever used. Also, hotels should consider offering toilet trees with universal scents that more people find appealing versus things like lavender and eucalyptus and lemongrass. I loved the decor and patio set.

Yelp
It's an okay hotel in an excellent location. I don't think I'll pay $500++/night again on this hotel. It's not worth it for me. I also had a flea bite when I stayed in this hotel. Disappointing for me.

Yelp
Look if you're looking for centrally located this is the place! Now let's talk about the hotel which is average at best. The first impression was poor! The bellhops were awesome but the front desk team members aside from Jennifer were to busy even to say hello. There is no lobby to speak of other than a couch a chairs. The rooms were clean but nothing worthy of the crazy nightly price. Simply put in my eyes the little things matter and they did not get it right at all. The white doors had dirt and hand prints on them and the rooms were no better than your average Marriott. Lastly, you're paying for location and not even a view. Sausalito on the other hand! Incredible place to eat, drink, shop, and relax. Your choice but I was not impressed.

Yelp
As you can see from my previous reviews, Casa Madrona holds many special memories in our hearts. We got married in SF and stayed at casa Madrona the night before our wedding and night of. We got ready there, took pictures there, stayed our wedding night there. We come back every year for our wedding anniversary to relive the most amazing few days of our wedding. We always have great customer service. When I call to make reservations, I explain its our wedding anniversary and the whole story of us getting married there , they always give us the same room we stayed in as our wedding night, always a bottle of wine and a nice card congratulating us, and even a small discount on the room. Well a couple weeks ago, we stayed for our 5th wedding anniversary and it was such a HUGE disappointment. I think it all went wrong with the reservations. I called a few weeks before to their reservation line (because for some reason you can't all the hotel directly to do it) to make our reservation. The lady on the phone was VERY rude and seemed annoyed to be working. I told her I wanted to make a reservation, explained its our 5 year wedding anniversary and the whole story of our wedding and past stays at casa Madrona. I also requested the same Room we always get. She "noted" all that in the reservation. I told her we normally get a small discount and she said they can't do that any more (it's under new ownership). She was very rude and short. Anyways gave her my card # and finished the reservation. Normally I get an email reservation and my card gets charged immediately when I get off the phone. That didn't happen. The next day, still nothing. I gave it a week and STILL no email or charge. So I called the reservation line again. The lady on the phone couldn't find any info, took 10+ minutes, finally she found our reservation and said it didn't go through to the hotel ("got lost in the middle") . So she said she'd resend it over and I'd get charged and email ASAP. That didn't happen. went to check in the day of our arrival and luckily it worked but then she said my card wouldn't work on the machine. So had to use husbands card and then "try to change the cards when we check out". Since the original reservation was lost or whatever happened, all the notes about our stay did not go through. We didn't get the room we requested (the biggest disappointment of all) or any nice card or bottle of wine like usual. Got a room on the lower floor and we walked in. It smelled like someone dumped a bottle of cologne in the carpet. After about 10 minutes we started getting headaches. We normally don't cause fuss or complained but we HAD to get out of that room, it was so bad. Unfortunately the only one they had left was the ADA handicap room. It was more spacious but even worse view and the bathroom and shower were not like the other rooms. There were a few other small things with staff that left a bad vibe with us as well. No room to type it all though For almost $900 for 2 nights, We expect A LOT More. Especially because we've had such amazing experiences in the past. Such a huge bummer and disappointment. Needless to say, this will be our 5th and final year celebrating or wedding anniversary at this place that holds so many good memories in our hearts. Just so bittersweet and disappointed.

Yelp
This hotel is heavily overpriced. If you only care about location, then probably it's the option. But otherwise find some other locations to stay

Yelp
If you love natural products and pampering like I do, The Spa at Casa Madrona is a MUST GO! I have lived in Marin the past 3 years and have been going to see Jesse (for Massage) and Kat (for Facials) for the past 7 months. I recently moved back to The San Francisco Bay Area and hadn't seen the hotel's new renovations. The team is all so welcoming and friendly. They are my go-to spot for all things skin and body. Keep it up! The Spa at Casa Madrona will always be a stop for me and you should too if you haven't already!!

Yelp
Tired, outdated and overpriced hotel. Stayed here on Christmas (also my husband's birthday) and had communicated numerous times before hand to the staff that we were celebrating my husband's birthday. I had requested a quiet/private room to ensure a great stay. Instead they put us right on the street at the traffic light right in the middle of the hotel. Not once did they acknowledge his birthday or go out of their way to make sure we had a pleasant stay. There was a jackhammer going on at 7am in the morning. The caulk in the bathroom, beds, and furnuture needs replacing. They don't even have vallet anymore so you have to go park your car across the street. To add insult to injury they charged me $15 more at check in after telling me I had already pre-paid and did not owe anything else additional. We had stayed here 5 years ago and were hoping for a repeat wonderful experience which obviously did not happen. We will not be coming back.

Yelp
Took my wife here for Valentine's Day weekend and was the greatest time of our lives. Amazing view and amazing rooms. 10/10
