Tortuguero was wonderful, and so was Casa Marbella. They helped coordinate our kayak and hiking outings and also helped with pickup from their dock. Evenings are nice sitting on their dock with a cold drink after a long day. Breakfast was also good. If you want something super fancy and resort like, don't go to Tortuguero. If you want adventure and a laid back small remote village vibe, it's excellent. My wife and I had a great time and highly recommend.

I loved the place and the personnel working in Casa Marbella. Well situated with its own dock. Amazing views. Excellent breakfast served at table. The rooms were very clean and well decorated. The administrator is a very nice lady, who also helped us with excursions. I recommend this place

We can really recommend a stay in Casa Marbella. Perfect location in the centre of the village Tortuguero. The rooms are clean and the beds are confortable. The boat brought us directly to the entrance of the house. As someone else wrote, you have to pay cash in Colones or in Dollars. The breakfast is nice.

It is located in the center of the village, close to all restaurants and activities. The front desk lady was very helpful with helping us organize all the trips. They have a guide working with them. The room was cleaned daily.|The only problem was weak Wifi

I cannot in good conscience rate this hotel any higher than 1/5. We booked the economy room for three nights. The room itself had a bad smell of mildew, which the receptionist was able to "clear up" with some fragrance sticks; still, the feeling that you were breathing in unhealthy air remained. We understand Tortuguero is very humid, but this smell was inexcusable. ||The absolute worst part, however, was the noise. The economy rooms are located right on the main road of Tortuguero. The walls are paper thin and the windows have no insulation. This means that you can — without exaggeration — hear what passersby are saying. Even with ear plugs, we struggled to get some sleep. This was undoubtedly the worst room we have EVER stayed in. Fortunately, we were able to move to a different room for our first night. This room was good in terms of smell and noise. We would have been happy to stay there for the other two nights, but the room was unavailable.||The hotel was willing to cancel our booking for the other two nights and refunded us half of the payment. It was very clear to us that we were not the first customers to complain and ask for our money back; the swiftness with which our request was handled suggested that the staff were very much aware that the economy rooms are essentially unrentable. The snag here is that canceled bookings do not give you the opportunity to leave a review on Booking.com. This means that the ratings on booking sites are highly inflated. My sense is that the hotel is taking full advantage of this.||In short: DO NOT BOOK AN ECONOMY ROOM here. Other rooms are fine. We relocated to El Icaco for the other nights and found this to be a much superior experience, with much friendlier staff.

Casa Marbella is fantastic. The location of being right on the river is brilliant. Although the rooms are basic we had AC in ours which made a difference with the heat and humidity. We also organised a boat + walking tour (which were both excellent and we wouldn’t have seen much without our guide) as well as a turtle watching tour through the hotel. We recommend all of them. Casa Marbella was good value as well especially with breakfast pancakes. The only improvement I could suggest would be a bar! That way guests could have a drink (maybe with a happy hour!) whilst watching the river.

The place was well maintained. The rooms had air conditioning and the beds were ok. Very little furniture in the room. The place was well laid out and had fans on the patio’s which made it more comfortable. Breakfast was basic but well done. Fresh fruit, eggs or pancakes and coffee tea and chocolate.|The best was the guide Luis who made all our tours a great experience, he is knowledgeable and enthusiastic and very friendly.

Casa Marbella is a small bed and breakfast facility on the Tortuguero Village. We booked our stay through Expedia. Before our arrival, Casa Marbella sends detailed instruction on how to reach the public ferry dock, and a time table of the ferry. This helps us to correctly navigates to the ferry landing place. When we reach La Pavona (Embarcadero a Tortuguero), we were surprised to be greeted by a lady working for Casa Marbella, with our ferry tickets at hand. We had a good conversation with the lady when we were waiting for the ferry, and she explained in details of the tours operated by Casa Marbella. We ended up purchasing 3 tours from Casa Marbella: Night wildlife spotting & Jungle walk, the Tortuguero Canal tour, and the Night wildlife spotting & Jungle walk. We have spent more on the tour than our room, and we were pretty satisfied with the tour. |The Casa Marbella sits beside the canal with a beautiful dock and dining area that faces the canal. The hotel room is very small and basic though. The plus side is that the room has a working air conditioning unit, which is very useful in the hot and humid Tortuguero weather. Some negative side is that the shower is heated by a small electric heater at the shower head, which frequently trips during the shower. So don’t be surprised if the shower suddenly turn cold, and you should try to turn back the switch that controls the shower heater outside your room. |Casa Marbella offers coffee around 5am, to accommodate earlier riser for the morning canal tour. A continental breakfast is offered, with some fruit, coffee and orange juice, and the choice of either bread and scrambled egg or pancakes.
