I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Casa Marieta and I can honestly say it was one of the most memorable meals I’ve had in Spain. This restaurant has proudly kept the tradition of serving authentic Catalan cuisine for over 100 years, and it shows in every detail — from the warm atmosphere to the deeply flavorful dishes.
A very special shoutout goes to Pauline, our gracious and thoughtful hostess for the night. Pauline went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect with our meal. Her attentiveness really made the experience feel personal. We ordered the baked snails in tomatoes, the fideuà (Catalan noodle paella), and the squid, paired with white wine, bottle of water and bread. Each dish was rich in flavor, beautifully cooked, and truly showcased the essence of Catalan cooking.
What really touched me was how Pauline noticed how much we were enjoying the snails and offered to complement them with some extra bread — such a thoughtful gesture! And the bread was delicious, perfectly soaking up every last bit of the savory flavors.
The interior of Casa Marietta is just as impressive. It stays true to its roots with a warm, rustic charm that captures the spirit of the region — an authentic Spanish vibe through and through.
As someone from the Philippines, I have a deep appreciation for Spanish flavors, and I could genuinely taste the influence that has also shaped our cuisine back home. Every bite felt familiar yet uniquely Catalan. It was a truly special connection.
And the best part? The price was incredibly reasonable. For everything we ordered (there were two of us), we paid together just a little over 50 euros — a fantastic value for such an unforgettable meal. Make sure to leave a generous tip when you go — it’s well-deserved.
Casa Marieta is a gem. And thanks to Pauline, our visit wasn’t just dinner — it was an experience I won’t forget.
