We enjoyed our stay at Casa Mathilda. The location, room, breakfast, and staff were all great. The reason we couldn't give this hotel 5 stars is that it's not staffed outside of 8am to 5pm. It's located in an old building with a very old elevator. The decor is clean and simple.||Not having a 24/7 reception was an issue during our stay. We got SIM cards for Europe without phone numbers. We had been communicating with the hotel via WhatsApp but didn't realize their emergency number cannot be reached via WhatsApp. There were two instances when we tried contacting them via the emergency number outside of 8 to 5 to no avail. The first time was when we didn't have any hot water for showers. The second time was more urgent when we needed help before leaving for the airport. We almost missed our flight. It would have been much better at a hotel with a full-time reception.

This charming hotel is perfectly nestled in the city center. Stepping outside puts you within easy walking distance of everything, and convenient public transport links are just around the corner for exploring further afield. The hosts are exceptionally friendly and helpful, offering a truly personal touch. From the moment you enter, the beautifully maintained historic elevator sets a unique and welcoming tone. Expect comfortable beds and a clean bathroom.

We had some amazing days at Casa Mathilda. It is really a hideaway in the busy city of Barcelona. You can find everything you need: ideal equiped room, silent rooms, perfect breakfast, super friendly staff. It feels like coming home.

Casa Mathilda exceeded my expectations in every way. The location is fantastic – just a short walk to the subway, making it incredibly easy to explore Barcelona’s main attractions. Despite being so central, the hotel maintains a quiet and charming atmosphere, perfect for a restful stay. The structure of the hotel is lovely, blending classic elegance with modern touches. The rooms are clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed for comfort. The common areas are cozy and welcoming, with a unique charm that makes you feel at home. What really sets Casa Mathilda apart, however, is the staff. They are exceptionally friendly and attentive. I had an early morning flight, and they went above and beyond by preparing a special breakfast for me and placing it in the minibar the night before. Such kindness and attention to detail are rare to find and truly made my stay memorable!

We stayed at Casa Mathilda for 6 nights in April 2025. We had a good time. Location is perfect and the space is in a nice old building. Only things we didn‘t love: we had ants in the bathroom (old building…) and the shower curtain was turning moldy - probably due to. lack of ventilation. Additionally, I think the towles and bedding could habe been changed at least once (we stayed 6 nights). It‘s absoluteley fine to not change it every day, but after around three days it should be done automatically - especially for the price dou pay per night (add: we got new towles from the nice staff after asking).

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The location is perfect — central and conveniently close to the metro, making it easy to get around. The staff is fantastic, always friendly and helpful. The entire place smells amazing and is spotlessly clean, which made my stay even more comfortable. The breakfast was also very good, with plenty of options to start the day right. I highly recommend this hotel!

The location is excellent, the building is perfect, the elevator is a piece of art, and everyone on the staff is super friendly. If I return to Barcelona, I will definitely stay there again.
