Casa Max benefits from the human kindness of Dimitri, who is an exceptional host. Very caring, helpful and friendly. We got caught in tropical rainstorm on our 1st night and he provided us extra towels to stay dry and warm up. The wifi, AC and hot water shower worked well. We booked a very comfortable room with king size bed, fridge, and private balcony which was fabulous as it was not overlooked and felt really private. We had a view of the main road and the rooftops of the neighbouring houses. As we arrived on a Saturday, it was a busy weekend but after that the place was really nicely quiet and peaceful. The room felt clean. Our room was cleaned about every other day during out 6 night stay, and we got fresh towels each time. The breakfast option in the restaurant was great as we got a 20% discount for being guests at the hotel. I loved being able to have (very good tasting) coffee on the balcony in the mornings. Dimitri also provided us drinking water refills, which was great - to encourage refilling versus buying more plastic bottles. We support his conscious and green efforts here! We also liked having our own fridge so we could keep our water nice and cold during the hot September days in Bocas. The hotel felt very safe and it is perfectly situated very close to everything (literally 5-15 minutes walk to and from anywhere in Bocas town), but not in the middle of all the bars and noise. There is a supermarket conveniently situated across the road, but also several options in the town, including Pharmacy, medical centre, bank. The Square to catch the collectivo bus to Starfish and Bluff beach is also less than 10 minutes walk (at the town square), and the local Bocas airport also very easy to get to by taxi if needed. We could also walk very easily to any port to do a tour, go to Carenero Island (for Aqua or Bibi's and nearest beach), tranquil Bastimentos island, or back to Almirante for buses to David, Chiriqui, etc. There is a lot of choice of things to do in Bocas Town, and Casa Max is close to all of them, and Dimitri helped us navigate Bocas and all it has to offer.
Everything was so great. However, a couple little suggestions: to have a couple outdoor chairs on the balcony so we don't have to move the inside ones; And also a shower tray (to hold our soaps, shampoo, razor) would be a nice touch for added convenience so we wouldn't have to keep moving them from the sink or have them on the shower floor. Again, some minor things but these would be great to add to the room for future travelers.
