This is a century-old store. The desserts and cakes inside are favorites among Spanish locals. Most of the people who come here to buy are local Spanish elderly people of the same age.

The Long queue of people waiting their turn to enter speaks about the reputation of this traditional sweets house. I admire their regulations of covid restrictions, the efficacy of their staff attending the customers, and for sure the perfectly made delicious “Mazapan”.

Love this classic store… Not only is it beautiful, staff very friendly but the Turrón & the Piñonadas are incredibly good!

Loved this. Delicious Turron traditionally made. You can taste the difference.

QUEUING UP TIME. One of the most delicious Christmas sweet we have is nougat. You must visit Mira for the best nougat and other Christmas specialities in the world, even in summer! They have dozens of types and you can choose buy packed or cut to the quantity you want in front of you. You will actually see the bars of turrón coming out the kitchen, shiny and creamy. To me the king is Jijona type, don't miss marron glace and glaced fruits too. In December you will have to wait in queue for a good one hour sometimes but you won't regret it.

The store makes a huge impression, the display look surreal. Unfortunately, the quality of products isn't the best and definitely not worth the money. I bought a brownie there which looked super delicious but wasn't; covered in chocolate like mass (more like fat) and was very underbaked and tasted more like cheap chocolate cake rather than a brownie. Would probably not visit again.

This place is good for delicious pastries. We had a few things here but our favorite was a fillo with custard. Very flaky, crunchy and the cream was not overly sweet. There was also a big donut like pastry with custard that was good. I didn't have the turons from this place but they looked good as well. The attendants don't smile a lot or greet you but Ive noticed that in a lot of places here in Madrid where you don't sit down to eat are the same. Who knows.

Delicious sweets & pastries. Everything we bought was delicious. Beautiful packaging and store. Many staff available to assist customers, all were very helpful. Wish I lived closer...

Yelp
There are lots of Turrón shops in Madrid, including a big chain with Albert Adria branding, but for those in-the-know none have been serving Spain's capitol longer than Casa Mira, who has been crafting sweet Nougat since 1842. Located on Carrera San Jerónimo, creator Luis Mira's original recipes once granted Spanish Royal Warrant still in use to this day, it is inside a wood and glass space that Confections fill every meter, a spinning display up front yielding flawless Palmiers as well as an elongated, laminated Tecla. Keeping a picture of Luis on the wall, and splendid in terms of service, Turrón is sold by weight at fair prices, the Original enjoyed via small sample while a thick slice of the version featuring Marzipan softened the texture slightly but upped sweetness by quite a bit.

Yelp
We popped into Casa Mira for an afternoon treat while out "tourist-ing" and had a hard time choosing which pastries we'd be leaving with. The display in the widow, a carousel full of delicious looking treats drew our eye and upon entering we were greeted buy a huge assortment of delicious pasty and candy, loads to choose from. The staff wasn't overly friendly, in fact, not really friendly at all, but we were in no mood to chat anyway as 'hangry' was setting in. A couple of pastries added to a bag, and out the door and back on down the street we went, enjoying one pastry on our walk with another safely ensconced for later.

Yelp
Once you get over the sticker shock of paying 45 euro for a kilo of turron, you can finally breathe and enjoy yourself at this place. The turron here is apparently legendary -- someone I know from back home actually sent their friend with $100 to buy them a ton of turron. That friend was so tempted by the deliciousness of the turron that she actually ate all $100 worth on the plane ride back to the USA. I stopped in after Casa Mira finished up their siesta and decided to get the almendra (almond) turron. Turron is interesting because it's sweet but not too sweet and overpowering, which probably explains why that person was able to eat $100 worth of it in just a few hours. It's not very heavy so you could probably continue eating it forever if you had absolutely no self control. Anyway, the turron was delicious. This place also has a lot of excellent baked goods and chocolate truffles. The ladies working there weren't incredibly friendly but that's alright. I spent about 4 euro on my little block of turron which was sort of pricy but I wanted to come here after hearing so much about it that I didn't mind too much.

Yelp
Casa Mira is one of the classic places in Madrid to buy turron, which as it is traditionally eaten at Christmas was particularly busy in December. They have a queuing system (tickets dispensed just by the entrance) and it was fun to watch older Spaniards enjoying the whole purchasing experience. The shop itself is very nice too, it was founded in 1855 and does feel like stepping back in time. The turron itself is considered to be of very high quality. Personally I don't like the turron de Jijina (turron blanda). It tastes like it isn't finished - like paste you need to add water to or something! The turron de yema is very nice if you like marzipan flavour. Overall though unless you're pretty keen on turron this is an expensive place to buy it and, if you're on a visit wanting a souvenir, there's enough selection at the airport.

Yelp
I asked for a but turron, but they cut just huge pieces and they were n doubt expensive.
