"I also favor Casa Museo Boschi di Stefano, which displays a once-private collection of 20th-century Italian art in the owners’ art deco apartment inside a building designed by Piero Portaluppi in the 1920s; Marieda Boschi di Stefano was related to designer Alessandro Mendini, who used to visit the house." - Kathryn Romeyn

"1930s home Casa Boschi di Stefano In the 1930s, architect Piero Portaluppi was the toast of the town, designing the most innovative and beautiful houses and buildings in Milan . Walking through Casa Boschi di Stefano, you find a great example of early twentieth century Italy, from the architecture to the Boschi di Stefano family's collection of Italian art from the first decade to the end of the sixties. The man who sits on the porch when you first go on was asking we pay, so ignore this person. Just walk on in and go upstairs. But the art is sublime and its very quiet!! I'd suggest just spending a couple of hours analysing the art my daughters loved this!

I had a wonderful experience in this Casa-museo. It's one of Milano's hidden gems! Even though there were no other visitors while I was there, this museum offers an intimate and rich experience surrounding art. Every room tells a story, from the paintings to the artworks to the furniture, everything is unique and magnificent. The people who work there are very friendly and don't hesitate to give information about the house itself, enriching the visit. What impressed me the most was the green chandelier at the entrance. The nice lady explained to me that its green color is due to arsenic pigmentation! Which is still very dangerous! This place really allowed me to escape the noise and crowds of Milan!

Absolutely stunning! The people there are so friendly and helpful. It is absolutely free and they provide you with an audio guide through a qr code. It's small, but the selection is very tasteful and some of the works were just amazing (I especially loved the post-war art). The place also seems quite empty (there was only another guy and me throughout my visit) so you get to enjoy it to the fullest. Absolutely worth taking a detour for.

The architect of the building was the same as the one who designed the Villa Necchi Campiglio: Piero Portaluppi known for his modernist Art Deco style. Beautiful small flat that contained more than 300 works of 20th Century Italian art. There was one room dedicated to Fontana, furniture by Sironi, ceramics by the former lady owner, art deco doors and windows, and beautiful Murano glass lamps. Like at Villa Necchi there were passionate and knowledgeable volunteers around to talk to you about the flat, artwork, furniture etc. Kudos to them!

Absolutely delighted by my experience at Casa Museo di Studio di Boschi Stefano! Such a hidden jewel in Milan. It feels like an intimate, art-rich, and immersive look into a world where design, history, and creative vision meet with elegance. I love how the Art Deco pieces were striking yet serene, with a palette of earthy woods and soft textures that invite you to slow down and feel. The walls are a blend of playful and abstract works, thoughtfully arranged to inspire reflection. For me, the chandeliers were the star of the show! The chandeliers shift from space to space, some delicate and dreamlike, others bold and sculptural, adding a rhythmic, almost meditative quality to the experience. The overall ambiance is hushed, sensual, and refined. Every detail speaks of taste, restraint, and depth. It’s a place that lingers with you, long after you’ve stepped back into the bustle of the city.

A well-kept secret in the center of Milano. Late Italian Art Déco in its pure form. This place is a throwback in time. Come for the artworks, or come to bath into a style of yesteryear.

A hidden gem in Milan. This “home museum” is stuffed with modern Italian art and art-deco furniture and lamps, all carefully arranged in balanced themes. Free entry an absolute must-see.

Yelp
Its bit hidden in the Via Jan 15 near Piazza Lima because it remained within the 1930s apartment of its former owners, Antonio Boschi and Marieda Di Stefano. The museum Boschi-Di Stefano has an outstanding collection of 20th-century Italian art, including paintings by Futurists such as Boccioni, Carrà and Severini. The idea of presenting the 2000-piece collection in the original flat is quite remarkable. Sitting on the sofas is allowed!
