An absolute must-see if you’re in Quito. The Casa Museo Guayasamín is a beautiful and deeply moving place that captures the spirit and intensity of one of Latin America’s greatest artists. Guayasamín’s work is powerful, emotional, and full of humanity — you can feel his passion and pain in every brushstroke. The museum itself is stunning, located in a peaceful area with beautiful architecture and views that complement the art perfectly. Walking through the house feels like entering the artist’s world — intimate, reflective, and full of history. It’s a place that touches you on many levels and leaves you thinking long after you leave. A truly unforgettable cultural experience in Quito.

Well…… that was a mind-blower! I’m seventy, have travelled the world since I was a child, and now know where I want to live—as long as all the decor remained. This house! Seriously, I’m embarrassed to say that I was not familiar with Guayasamin’s work. It is fantastic. His astonishingly beautiful house is chock full of fabulous objet d’art, plus his own work. Anyone remotely interested in art, architecture, and Ecuadorian culture should visit. His grand gallery next door was also fantastic, but far from peaceful, based as it is on man’s inhumanity to man.

This intimate and full immersion into the life and art of Guayasamìn is a must visit for art lovers. In addition to seeing many of the artist's works on display, you will also see his vast collection of art from pre-columbian pottery and bowls to modern masters. An atheist, Guayasamìn, has a large collection of religious art created by indigenous people in the Quito school. These are displayed the way the artist wanted them to be seen. Look for lots of angles and saints with their eyes 👀 cast towards the sky. The house is beautiful and the studio is stunning. You can see his workspace, tools, and paints, along with his work. The house tour was excellent, but I wanted more time to.soend with the many pieces on display. It is packed with beautiful and intriguing art, and I found myself wanting more time to view pieces up close. The collection on the ground floor is breathtaking. You.see from his earliest works, Guayasamìn is a gifted and visionary artist.

I have loved everything about my visit at Casa museo Guayasamin. It was interesting to learn a bit more about this amazing artist. The guides are very knowledgeable. The views from the house to the mountains are amazing.

The capilla del hombre and casa de guayasamin should be highlighted as one of the must see attractions in quito by every travel book. Not sure why they just mention it in passing. I am soo happy that it was Tuesday and all other museums were closed so we could come here. The paintings are masterpieces, every single one of them, and they really touch you. What an artist, what a talent. I could come a thousand times and be left in awe.

Please take time to visit this beautiful treasure in Quito. It was recommended to me by a local friend who knew I was interested in art. It was my first visit to Quito and I was unsure about visiting. What an awesome and moving experience to learn about this renowned artist and his passion for his work. Not to be missed!!
