Unfortunately I have to give this 3 stars. The staff was super friendly and welcoming but the room was dirty. When I opened the door there was already hair or dirt on the floor. The bed sheets looked like they had ketchup stains on them. One of the pillows smelt like body odor. The other pillow smelt fresh. Not sure if they actually cleaned thrse sheets properly before I came. The little rug in the room had food bits in it. The head board had what looked like cigarette ash.||After my first night as I was walking down to breakfast the staff asked if I would like my room cleaned. I said yes. And I saw the maid cleaning and replacing other rooms. So it's not a lack of desire to please, just a lack of execution. When I walked back into my room the cigarette ash was wiped off the head board from the previous night but i found it on the bed sheet. The room also has a smell of sewer in this one spot. It's not in the bathroom but in the area between the bathroom and entrance door. I think it comes from the AC unit but not sure, anyhow the smell though strong for some reason only lingered in one area.||The room itself was very cozy. The AC strong. A balcony that fit two chairs and a table. It's located on a quiet street but still just a minute from the central square. I actually had a good night's rest were it not for the dirty pillow case and floor. If you're looking for a quiet place to sleep for one night in a good location and dont mind the dirtiness factor I would recommend. But anything after one night I can't recommend.

Very good location and charming building, but inadequate lighting - it would be great if there were more lamps in the room and light had a more pleasant color. It would also be good to have nightstands. Simple breakfast included (toast bread, eggs with cheese and ham, fruit, coffee, orange juice, cornflakes, yogurt). Friendly staff.

Half of the staff were quite kind, while the other half made the stay more difficult than it should have been. This second group seemed entirely disinterested in their job and didn’t care to help customers with anything (like providing tourists with information about restaurants, ATMs, or directions).||||This hotel completely did not respond to messages or emails, and I had to call them long-distance to arrange my airport transfer, which cost more than double what an Uber did. Check-in took 30 minutes, which is unacceptable, and the insistence that the bill be paid in cash when they had a card-reader smelled of untoward behavior.||||The location is safe, but was super loud at night due to proximity to night clubs. My ears were ringing. I would not recommend a stay here unless poor service and partying in the historic colonial zone are priorities.

We spent two nights here on a visit to see the colonial part of Santo Domingo. I can’t say enough good about our hosts here, wonderful people. Your included breakfast is custom cooked and served by the friendly staff. They speak french, english and spanish, so there is no language barrier. Everything you could want to see is walking distance and the staff are happy to direct you. The rooms are small but clean and mattresses are fine. Wifi works well and you have little courtyard you share with the stairs to sit if you want a bit more room,or the wife wants a nap. Just down the street is a small tienda to get a cold beer or whatnot and lots of restaurants nearby. The owners brother Leo has a cab and lives nearby, very convenient. The street is quiet and we heard nothing other than occasional dog. I would go back here if ever in Santo Domingo again. This is a five star three star hotel!

As this place is located in Zona Colonial, it is a convenient place to stay. Everything in zona colonial is in walking distance and the area is very safe. The room and bathroom was clean. The bed was very good. The room had a TV and refrigerator. I was not lucky enough to have a room with balcony, but it was ok, although a little dark. Breakfast was ok. The staff was lovely and very helpful.

Very nice, a bit old fashioned, hotel on a quiet street in Zona Colonial close to all important sights. Friendly staff preparing good breakfasts to order. Clean room, good wifi. Comfortable roof terrace.

We stayed here for 3 nights in March, 2018. We booked a king bed room with a balcony through booking.com. We arrived at the hotel straight from the airport, in a strange city and tired after a long journey and guess what? Front desk staff told us our room had been given to someone else! We reserved it. We committed. Not acceptable. They put us in a double room on the first floor at the back of the building with no outside looking windows. We put up with this for 2 nights and then approached the owners, a wonderful French couple and they corrected the situation immediately. Merci beaucoup. Breakfast is O.K. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the old town and close to the main square and some good restaurants.

I hate fake reviews, so misleading! This is lovely hotel, lots of character. But the room we booked was not the room we got, it was the classic bait and switch. We booked a street side with balcony and a king size bed and the room we got was dirty and looked like no effort had been given to clean it before we showed up and the bed was a double/queen. The room we got the first night, the ac was caked with dust, along with the fan. and on the bed , the mattress pad was in shreds. If I could send a picture I would. It would have been impossible to clean it. So not sure when the last time that was. The sheets where sooo thin. The bathroom had mold on the walls, the light fixer was hanging out of the ceiling with a lizard living in it. The second night. The room still not what we booked. The ac was not working properly, it was spitting ice on my husbands head all night. The bed sheets where the same in shreds and very thin. The sink was clogged so the night staff had a look at it , but when he opened the drain in our room all of the exhaust and stink came out and was now in our room for the night, and it leaked all night. Oh and the stairs are open to the elements, which is what gives it so much character, but when it rains The stairs are so slippery, and Some of the rooms get flooded, our friend was one of those unfortunate people who’s room was flooded while we where there. Because of COVID I would have thought attention to cleaning would have been A priority. The staff is amazing though with what they had to work with .
