You may like to stay here if your idea of a hotel is a night at the museum but it doesn't meet the standards you expect at a four star hotel. There is a lot of dark wood and cabinets full of crockery that light up when you pass - it's spooky and gloomy. The display in the lower foyer is macabre.||The rooms are large and clean but basic - there is no wi-fi, no telephone, no tv, no kettle, no fridge. Breakfast is disappointing - no croissant, no toast, no muesli, nothing cooked. ||There is no reception desk, we only saw one member of staff, she tried to be helpful but only spoke Portuguese and French. The hotel is in a good position with free parking in a public car park a couple of hundred metres away.||Ponte da Barca is pleasant but not really geared up for tourists, there is no tourist information or walking equipment shop. There are restaurants but some are directed at locals. It is convenient to drive to the national park.
