We did not stay at the property but had a delightful experience with a cooking experience with Ana Maria and her culinary team. Her home is magnificent and at the same time welcoming and beautifully appointed with antiques and personal artifacts. Wish we could have stayed here but our several hours were sublime. obrigata

Our travel agent booked a trip to this lovely little farm where we had lunch al fresco while enjoying the company of our host, Ana Maria. She gave us a tour of the property and the house where they have lived now for 30 years. Our lunch was simply prepared and delicious. Their family wines were delightful, as was the port we enjoyed after our meal. We ate in the yard overlooking the blossoming trees and it was such a lovely afternoon. The highlight was touring the centuries old chapel attached to their home. There are two modern rooms available to stay in a separate building. They are very neat clean and simple. I would think it would be a peaceful respite after the bustle of lisbon!!

A stone wall and town square are your entry into the past turned modern. Ana Maria, her husband and the ladies are nothing short of attentive, kind, knowledgeable and professional. Ana Maria is a wealth of information and she lovingly shows you to the most beautiful quaint rooms, cozy apartments and the grounds. We stayed our own apartment which was quite large, comfy bed, sitting are and a good sized washroom. We thoroughly enjoyed our first night dinner in the main home's dining room. The food and drink were so well prepared and it felt so regal to be served in such fine surroundings. Ana Maria was discreetly always available for any of our questions and she was amazing at guiding us to explore the area as well as a day in Porto with a private tour guide. She is brilliant in her knowledge, and her patience of fineness and of history is very enchanting. She speaks with great respect and love of her region; the Britainde home is charming and is surrounded by fruit trees, hydrangeas, wisteria, roses, vegetable garden and close to many scenic views. This place is also home to an ancient chapel which she showed to us with pride. Mind boggling to think of its history. If walls could talk. So, we left with such admiration for this historical home, great memories, and I really miss the people. Ana Maria has a gentle way of making you feel like family and an honored guest. I would highly recommend this place as a fine place, off the beaten track to explore the Douro wine region and other historical sites. It truly is a jewel. Thanks to Ana Maria and her wonderful people.

When we were greeted by AnaMarie I couldn't hlep gawking at the gardens as we went to our room. The flowers were beautiful, there were globe artichokes on the plants and the flowering vies were fabulous. Every element of the breakasts were lovely--especially the home made yogurt, The hospitality of the hosts was amazing--and I loved the books and paitings in the units and in the manor house. We accepted the offer of having dinner made for us at the property one night and really enjoyed it. Met a lovely couple also staying at the property. The visit that Ana Marie set up for us with her freind Miguel for a private port tasing was fabuous, as was the bottle of wine and snacks were had out on the lawn with our hosts the night we just didn't feel like going out for a big dinner. I would go back in a heartbeat any time I had the opportunity.

Amazing boutique hotel. Peaceful, beautiful, intimate, with the attention to details like in the best places I stayed before.|Couple of details: the breakfast usually held by the pool is served at the time you discuss the night before with AnaMarie. While it was prepared and served just for the two of us our room was cleaned. The breakfast included among other things home made yogurt, and raspberry and quiche preserves cooked from their own fruits.|Nice and easy drive to Pinhao for Porto tastings.|Amazing couples retreat!|

This was a calm place to stay. We were in one of the apartments in the garden, which was modern inside. It consisted of a bedroom, shower room and large lounge area with dining table, small fridge and kettle...so we were able have a cuppa.|The place is not labelled outside, except for a small sign with a tree logo...so we were concerned we'd come to the wrong place, but we're warmly welcomed.|The bed was very comfy, the pool was great, and the grounds attractive and well kept. |The bells from the church are audible from the room, as is traffic from the main road through the village...but we didn't find either to be a problem.|Breakfast is served at a table in the poolhouse. We found it plentiful with yoghurt, fruit, croissant, eggs, jam, bread, cheese, ham, fruit juice tea and coffee. |The evening eating out options in Britiande are limited...but we did try a restaurant called Stop which provided tasty food at reasonable price...not a tourist destination, but good food if you're prepared to go with their recommendations ...and rather large portions. |Other reviews have eaten at the accommodation but we did not try this

I stayed at this special place 2 nights. The hotel is a cozy place where the hosts are the property owners. We were welcomed in their beautiful mansion by Mrs. Ana Maria with a delicious tea. The room in front of the garden was well appointed with a spacious Living Room. The breakfast was Nice with cherries from the garden. Ana Maria, her husband and the ladies provide all we need for a relaxing stay.

We booked this place for 2 nights on the strength of past reviews. However, unlike others have commented we hardly saw the owners and did not benefit from any of the warm hospitality experienced. We certainly were not offered any other meal options apart from the included breakfast, which was plain and simple - fruit, yoghurt, bread, ham, cheese, preserves. Only just enough was set for the number of diners with no replenishment or anyone checking back to see if everything was ok or we needed anything.||When we we arrived we weren't sure if we were at the right place as there is no name on the house and we couldn't find anyone. When we did we were shown to our room, location of pool and a lounge we could use by the husband who repeatedly told us about the key arrangements and that was it. ||This is a very old house furnished in a traditional style and decor. Our room in the main house was comfortable enough but quite ordinary and old fashioned. We had requested a shower and this was over the bath, which was fine except the ceiling was so low we couldn't fully stand in it.||The grounds are lovely but as the house is close to the main road there is considerable traffic noise when sitting by the pool.||However, my biggest gripe is there is nowhere to get any refreshments. All we had in our room was a flask of tap water; there were no tea and coffee making facilities and there was no option to buy any ype of drinks. When staying at B & Bs or small hotels elsewhere you usually find an honesty bar/fridge or similar. As a consequence we spent a lot of our time quite thirsty and had to walk down to the local garage several times to buy cold drinks and to remember to take some with us to the pool.||Overall, we were disappointed wirh our stay and compared to other places we stayed in the Douro Valley felt it did not offer comfort or value for money.||When we arrived
