The 6 Best Hostels in Cusco (Updated 2025)

"I found this to be the most luxurious hostel in Cusco, feeling more like a boutique hotel in a restored colonial-era building; the inner atrium with its fusion restaurant/bar is particularly stunning. Each room is named in Quechua, and both private rooms and dorms have comfortable capsule beds with individual reading lights, curtains, outlets, insulating noise-reducing material, and blackout curtains — making it one of the best options for getting a solid night's rest and recharging before or after a trek. It's centrally located in the historic center." - Matthew Kepnes

We only came here for breakfast and did not stay at the hotel, but Casa Tunki left a great impression. The place has a fantastic atmosphere and overall vibe. It feels modern and thoughtfully designed, while still warm and inviting. The central courtyard is especially beautiful, filled with natural light and a calm energy. The mix of clean, modern lines with vintage and antique tech elements gives the space a really cool and distinctive character. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which immediately made the experience more enjoyable. One thing that really stood out is how well the space works as a place to sit and work. There are nice tables along the walls, each with power outlets, making it easy to settle in comfortably with a coffee and laptop. Breakfast was very good and really tasty, clearly prepared with care. The coffee was excellent and easily one of the highlights of the visit. Even if you are not staying at the hotel, it is absolutely worth stopping by for breakfast or a relaxed morning coffee.

Casa Tunki was the most beautiful, cleanest and most comfortable hostel I've stayed in... probably ever! The beds are huge and comfortable. Everything is spotless, great location, and the showers are hot. But the best of all is that the entire space is largely managed by a young staff, who are all welcoming, and go out of their way to help you. A big shout out to Sebastian and Regina! Smart, warm, and energetic. Without them, I wouldn't felt at home in a hostel.

I can't recommend Casa Tunki enough. The layout is beautiful. The sleeping pods arrangement of the dormitories is super private and peaceful. The free breakfast is incredible. The staff are super lovely and helpful. The free filtered water is also much appreciated. It's also excellent value for money. Thank you for making my stay so wonderful.

Cosy and clean dorm rooms with a small double bed! This was what we needed after the salkantay trek! The breakfast is incredible- choice of pancakes, toast with eggs and salad and a hot drink and fresh juice. Unfortunately you don’t get given a towel which is a downside. Great value for money - would 100% recommend

This place is a vibe !!!! Wow !!! Outstanding is all I have to say. We stepped in for some coffee and food and were met with the most incredible atmosphere, the coffee was what I was wanting from Peru, the food was so great especially when you know how remote this city is. Nothing but praise from me and would highly recommend dropping in if only for some food and great surroundings

Perfect nice and cozy hostel to spend time after or before hiking. One of my favourite hostels so far! Service is amazing, everything is really clean but most of all the staff! Special thanks to Regina!

The nicest hostel experience I’ve had, as someone who typically doesn’t go for shared rooms. Your stay includes a full breakfast (and dinner is also delicious in the hostel’s restaurant located in the main courtyard.) Inviting public areas both in the courtyard and two upstairs rooms that were decorated in fun vintage decor inspired by travel and radios. The staff were friendly and provided our family to-go breakfasts for our early AM trip to Machu Picchu. Location is excellent, <15 min walk from the Plaza de Armas and close to the action. Would stay here again one day in one of their private room options to avoid typical noisiness.

+ : The place is beautiful, the bed & pod overall is very comfortable. Shower is hot and the staff at reception & kitchen were lovely and helpful - : if you want to rest, this isn’t the place. Everyone in Cusco has at some point an early start with the different day trips, machu pichu trek and so on. People will wake up at 5am and pack for ages, turn lights on, have full on conversations… not that it’s the hostel fault but it’s worth noting. The cleaning staff is very disrespectful, starting cleaning the room and pod as early as 7.30am, playing music, calling people on the phone, talking loud and so on and that for hours. I’ve literally never seen this before. And before someone comes and tells me I should be staying in a private room if I don’t want noise, I’ve been travelling and staying in dorms for over a year and this amount of noise has never happened. Toilets and showers weren’t the most cleaned and there’s only 4 showers for at least 2x 12 beds dorms (if not more). The breakfast was good but the portions were ridiculously small. Finally, the WiFi wouldn’t reach the dorm despite having tried to connect to the 2-3 different networks offered Overall I wouldn’t recommend the place. I think you can get much better for a similar price
