My parents and wife and I stayed at Casa Vaganto two nights on our trip to Spain in February (coming from the US).
Everything about the stay was perfect: both rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, the decor was unique and chic etc. The hotel location is close enough to either walk towards the Ramblas or Gothic Quarter or to easily metro to further sights. Erika and the team at Casa Vaganto were welcoming and so helpful. We also enjoyed the complimentary beer, coffee, croissants, and hot showers.
After I booked our rooms, I read a few reviews that made me apprehensive about staying here, and I got worried—unnecessarily, as it turns out. I want to address those in case anyone else ends up in that situation.
First, I was worried about “noise” from the street below as mentioned in some reviews. “Noise” must really be subjective. We slept so soundly, even on a Saturday night, and didn’t hear a thing from below. There were earplugs provided in the room but we didn’t use them at all. I’m a deep sleeper but my wife is not and both of us agreed that the sounds drifting up were negligible—typical of any European city street. Unless you are freakishly sensitive to ambient noises or are used to sleeping in dead silence etc, this shouldn’t be a problem for most people.
Some reviews also said the rooms were kind of dingy and the apartment set up gave off a bad vibe—we didn’t get that sense at all/have no idea where that’s coming from. The rooms were cute and clean and all the spaces were welcoming. I guess it’s not like, a typical hotel set up, but…the way it’s done seems normal for European partitioning of buildings.
All in all, we'd definitely stay here again and would recommend it for others.
