Great for wine. Avoid their food. Gave a 3 because their wait staff and wine are so good I can’t give a one despite their food. The service is great but the food is really really poor. If you read this review you may dismiss what I’m about to say but they put processed cheese on the bread for our main course. I couldn’t believe it so I took a video (attached). We ordered fettuccini Alfredo and it was butter and water. I had the pesto dish and it tasted liked cooked noodles. Zero flavor. All this said, I want to be very fair: The wine selection is top notch. I don’t think you’ll find a selection of bottles that beats this anywhere in Gto. and the service is really really good. The location is terrific. The food: Really really bad. Like real bad. Come here for the wine, bread, service, and great venue. Avoid ordering food.

Came here for our 21st anniversary. The food was okay. The steak needed more of a char to it. The drinks were forgettable. I wanted to rate the service a 5 since our waiter was attentive;however, he forgot the anniversary surprise I requested when I walked in and made the reservation. We sat near the entrance and there is a partition wall that separated our table from the aisle way. There was one hostess that made it awkward by continuously resting this arm on top of the wall. While we absolutely LOVE this city, we will not be dining at this location again.

Incredible restaurant with michelin type of food and great atmosphere. The owner's son was walking around meeting customers. Great touch!

Casa Valadez in Guanajuato is truly unbeatable when it comes to location—right at the heart of the city, just steps from Plaza de la Paz, Jardín de la Unión, and directly across from the iconic Teatro Juárez. The restaurant itself feels both spacious and upscale, with impeccable cleanliness and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff is not just professional but genuinely friendly, making us feel at home right away. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch here, savoring the chicharrón de rib eye and pulpo a la Gallega—both cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. The overall vibe was ideal for relaxing and taking in the spirit of Guanajuato. We’ll definitely return next time we’re in town. Strongly recommended!

Everything was amazing the food was the most delicious and creative in town. The service was Michelin level, the ambiance and location was incredible, right across from the Theatro Juarez

Dinner at Casa Valadez was excellent! Would love to come back for their breakfast menu! The waiters were extremely attentive and the food was delicious. I had a burger that was cooked to perfection and the fries were extra crispy! Family members had several other dishes including the Salmon dish and Arrachera Tacos. Bacon wrapped chicken breast was slightly dry but still good nonetheless!

Google
The steak was served on a sizzling hot plate and it was perfectly done.Shrimp Gratin was mouth watering! The shrimps were juicy and fresh. Service was excellent, super attentive … food is great. The chicken breast, baked with Parmesan was not bad. We ordered Tiramisu and another dessert( corn bread with sweet condensed milk)… our opinion, the tiramisu was dry… the other dessert was not great. Perhaps we ordered the wrong things.

Google
Incredible dining experience here. I ordered the tamal colado and was not disappointed at all by the taste, absolutely delicious. Although it was surprisingly small, it was actually the perfect portion along with a drink and dessert. I also tried one of the arrachera tacos and it was amazing, easily competing with the top taquerias of Guanajuato. For drinks I went for the Poncho Le Vert mocktail which I highly recommend for a refreshing option. They also served complementary bread before the meal, with several different types. The real highlight was the dessert. The cheesecake tropical was absurdly delicious, genuinely one of the best desserts I’ve ever had before. This restaurant is worth visiting for that cheesecake alone. I also had a bite of the coulant de dulce de leche and flan which were great, but certainly overshadowed by the cheesecake. Excellent presentation of everything as well. The service was fantastic as well, with staff always nearby for when we finished with our plates and drinks. They also provided approximate times for when things would be ready, mindful for people in a time crunch. The only real downside here is that if you sit by a window, you may be approached by some vendors. Other than that, the atmosphere is great with calm music, respectful guests, and TVs which aren’t too loud. Easy atmosphere for conversations and a chill meal. Overall highly recommended for a higher budget option.

Yelp
Richly decorated dining room for flame-grilled tomahawk steaks & brunch with champagne cocktails. We came just an hour before closing but we were welcomed with a smile and friendly approach. Everyone was super nice and the manager wanted us to be comfortable so let us chose any table we wanted and offer some suggestions on the menu and drinks. Needless to say the experience was incredible and the food was delicious. Casa Valadez in Guanajuato is a well-known restaurant, not a historical building with a documented history. It's known for its excellent Mexican cuisine and is a popular dining spot in the city's historic center, particularly near the Jardin de la Union. While the restaurant doesn't have a long, documented history like some of the city's landmarks, it's a place where visitors can experience local culinary traditions in a vibrant, historic setting. Here's a bit more about Casa Valadez and its context within Guanajuato: Restaurant is not a historical site: It's important to clarify that Casa Valadez is a restaurant, not a historic house or building with a known history of its own, according to Evendo and Elyse Jessica Glickman. Culinary Destination: Casa Valadez is celebrated for its Mexican cuisine, offering both traditional dishes and modern interpretations with a focus on local ingredients. Location in the Historic Center: . The restaurant is situated in the heart of Guanajuato, near the Jardin de la Union, a central plaza, and is surrounded by the city's historic architecture. Not a Historical Landmark: . While Guanajuato itself is a UNESCO World Heritage site with a rich history, particularly related to silver mining, Casa Valadez is a contemporary establishment within the historic area. I highly recommend so you can thank me later :)

Yelp
Stopped by Casa Valadez with a big group around 1pm, and we were seated within 5 minutes--which was impressive, especially for such a central spot right by the Jardín. The interior is lovely, clean, and feels a bit upscale without being stuffy. Also shoutout to the bathrooms--super clean and well kept. Service was friendly and efficient. We had a few different servers check on our table, and everyone was helpful and kind throughout. To start, they brought out a variety of breads, and the cornbread was definitely the standout--moist with a nice texture. We also shared some queso (good flavor, with a solid kick) and guacamole, which was a clear favorite. The guac tasted super fresh, was well-seasoned, and had just the right balance of lime and salt. It came with crispy chips and had a cute presentation that made it feel more elevated than your standard side. Easy 5/5. I ordered the Enchiladas de Chamorro, which sounded promising but was kind of a letdown. It came out lukewarm (didn't seem fresh) and the meat tasted a bit dry. The sauce had a smoky-sweet flavor that was interesting but didn't totally work for me. On the drink side, the passion fruit and mezcal cocktail was a win--refreshing and not overly sweet. Bonus points for using real passion fruit. The café latte, though, was a pass--pretty much felt like I was drinking milk with a hint of coffee flavor. Overall, it's a beautiful spot with a great location and strong starters (especially that guac), but the main dish and coffee didn't quite live up to the rest of the experience. Still worth a visit if you're nearby and want a nice place to sit down and relax.

Yelp
This is such a lovely restaurant with a very elegant dining room, and wonderfully attentive staff. It's situated on the leafy Jardin de la Union plaza across from the Teatro Juarez. I had breakfast there and was impressed by the service (the waiter even placed a cloth napkin in my lap!) and the coffee and juice. I had their version of Eggs Benedict which were a little different. Instead of English muffins, they were served on brioche buns and covered with a cheese sauce instead of Hollandaise. The eggs were perfect although I didn't care for the sauce too much. I liked the restaurant so much that my partner and I went back for dinner. He had a simple parmesan pasta and I started with a Greek salad (huge - split one!) followed by the arrachera tacos which were delicious. And I suggest you visit the bathroom whether you need to or not. It's one of the nicest I saw in Guanajuato.

Yelp
Casa Valadez is an elegant dining option in Guanajuato adjacent to the plaza. While in town for a business trip, I had the pleasure of being able to dine in and enjoy breakfast while exploring. I ordered an omelette and French toast. The omelette, I added a Parmesan cream based sauce which was phenomenal in taste. However, I asked for no onions although it was still cooked with. Even after asking for it to be remade with no onions, it came back out with onions again. The French toast was unique as if it was made with what seemed to be a sponge style bread loaf coated in cinnamon. Again, phenomenal in taste when paired with the berries! Overall, the ambiance of Casa Valadez was very relaxed. Service gave off a fine dining experience. Outside of the mishap with onions, I'd definitely recommend if in the area.

Yelp
Excellent food. We were craving for some appetizers and we had the chicharrón, carpacccio and huaraches criollos. All of them were delicious. Well presented but tasty. The service is awesome, the captain Juan Antonio and Sergio waited our table and were on top of everything. The environment of this place is incredible as you are in the middle of the mariachis, estudiantinas which enlighten the place with rhythms of Mexico!!!

Yelp
The location of this restaurant is excellent. It is right in front of El Teatro Juárez. My group made reservations, so when we arrived we were immediately seated. The service here is amazing. Our server was Mr. Escobar who was very professional and attentive. Our table was located at the window facing the theater. So we had dinner with an amazing view. I ordered the shrimp pasta. It was well seasoned and tasty. My BF ordered the Ribeye Extranjero. The ribeye was served in a hot skillet and came out sizzling. The cheesecake was delicious.

Yelp
Truly an unequivocal dining experience. We were welcomed at the door into a fine dining establishment with a regal refined atmosphere. The meal was delicious with generous portions and immaculate presentation. I recommend ribeye chicharron for appetizer. I also would like to recommend the steak arrachera which I enjoyed happily.

Yelp
Ambience. A Service. A Food/drinks. A Price. A Found in middle of town near parks and churches. Very local touristy and very high end atmosphere. Was able to grab a table for 4 easily on New Year's Day. They have English menu paper and online. With pictures for most items. Server brought platter of various breads. With a very spicy dressing and salsa. Nice. Friends had chicken salad...very tender and dressing on sweet side. Lots of berries with mixed greens. Also had fresh made guacamole with various chips and chicharrones and beef jerky. Delish Ordered enchiladas with tomatillos salsa and mole. Delish. Ordered beef carpaccio loaded with olives Parmesan tomatoes pesto balsamic. Delish I would want to eat here again! I'm a fan PS. And very clean and maintained baños!!!

Yelp
Consuming breakfast at Casa Valadez 3 times over the course of 3 days (because it was included in my hotel rate) I feel confident in my assessment of the place and it goes something like this: The centrally located restaurant (right on Jardin de la Union) is lovely, with an abundance of nicely attired servers, but why is nobody doing anything about the high-pitched beep that occurs every couple of minutes throughout every meal you consume here? I think it was a smoke alarm announcing its low battery life but 3 days worth of such nonsense had me believing this might've been going on for years. The menu is accessed via QR code and there's a separate section for those who come here on a chit from their hotel. Supposedly in English, the menu made little sense to me, a speaker of English. By day 3 I wanted no more of the lukewarm chilaquiles or the mole-drenched eggs. Nor did I again want their Chocolate Chip Pancakes that contained not a single chocolate chip. I just wanted eggs and bacon and I got it, paying only a small price differential. The bacon was horrible but perhaps it is what passed for bacon in Mexico. In fairness, I appreciated that they constantly refilled my coffee cup and that the fresh fruit platter (an accompaniment to many breakfast offerings) is, if not abundant, presented beautifully. Casa Valadez looked and felt like a restaurant that should be so much better than it actually was.

Yelp
Four of us stopped here for lunch, on the recommendation of our tour guide. Our not very good review is based on our selections from their menu of enchiladas The chicken filling on all was very dry, lacking in flavor, it's like they just grabbed handfuls of shredded chicken breast meat that had been cooked without any seasoning. None were served very hot. Presentation was nice, thanks we're good, but the entrées were really big disappointment. We like to "eat local " when we travel, so we weren't interested in sushi or steaks. Maybe we just ordered the wrong thing, or should have gone to a more downscale type of place.

Yelp
Is a tourist destination? Yes. But the ambiance, views and service were all great. We asked for reccomendations based on what we were craving and the food was great. Pricey yes, but it was worth it.

Mary K.

Yelp
Beautiful place with attentive service. I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner here, right in the middle of everything, good food too!

Yelp
Beautiful establishment and great setting downtown Guanajuato. The food has outstanding great taste and very nice portions. Beautiful string of the food. The service is outstanding, and the staff is always checking on the customers. Very friendly.

Yelp
Lovely spot in Guanajuato. Came here with family after a day of exploring and walking around and it was just what I needed. They had a good selection of food and brought out bread to start. The alcohol selection was great and they had my favorite tequila! My steak was a bit over cooked but nothing too serious. I tried my first carajillo here and man oh man it was good. I'm gunna have to bring that one back to the states

Yelp
While there is definitely several places to eat in Guanajuato, I wanted to treat my fiancé to somewhere a little fancier. I located this restaurant on Yelp and we happened to walk by it earlier in the day sight seeing. I noticed there were several people eating there and how some tables had a view to the Theater located across the street. I reviewed their menu and decided to have a 12 oz ribeye. The ribeye was cooked to perfection and I paired it with fries and some rice. I also enjoyed the fresh squeezed limonada so much I ordered a pitcher of it. My fiancé order chicken Alfredo and she thought it was delicious. After our meal, we ordered some dessert which was an apple strudel and cinnamon sugar bites with homemade vanilla ice cream. One of the fancier restaurants in the entertainment district and staff was very attentive.

Yelp
City Center with fabulous service and tasty food. We ordered a couple cocktails and chicharron appetizer~they were both delicious. Recommend this restaurant.

Branko D.

Yelp
This restaurant has been our favourite for 16 years What happened to the food? Ordered main dishes. Menu says 20 min wait. It came back right away microwaved. The meat was dry and the centre was cold. The only fresh touch was the sauce which , by the way was excellent . Service as always was friendly, professional, immaculate. Please Go back to your old standards

Yelp
This restaurant was so amazing, we ate here everyday of our stay. We tried all 3 menus (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and everything was beautifully presented, fresh, and delicious. The manger, Jorge, and others gave perfect service. If, you visit Guanajuato and do not dine at this restaurant, you have made a huge mistake.

Yelp
We had an experience of a lifetime! My wife and I when on a mini getaway (no kids) to Guanajuato. We recently celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary, and FINALLY had the chance to do it properly (I am in the Navy) and I am usually either on duty or on deployment). Anyway, I remember going to Casa Valadez back in 1992 on a family trip, and I remembered that it was a BIG deal and the food was superb. So, I suggested to my wife that for our nice dinner we should go to Casa Valadez. So we did. CUSTOMER SERVICE: EXCELLENT. from being greeted at the door, welcomed, manager talked to us and made sure we sat in a good place, right by the window. As soon as we sat down, we were presented with a basket of various types of bread with a side of, what I think it was a queso blanco sauce. DELICIOUS!!!!! Then We ordered the tempura shrimp tacos, which instead of a regular corn tortilla had a tortilla-shaped thin slice of JICAMA... GENIUS!!!!!!! We also ordered a bottle of wine, made in Parras, to go with our dinner. For our dinner we chose the PARRILLADA: Arrachera, chorizo, Chicken, various grilled vegetables, fillet mignon, and hot peppers. All the meat was perfectly cooked, super tender and juicy. We also killed that bottle of wine! Even though we were pretty full from the dinner, appetizer and bread, we ordered a tres leches cake for sharing. Couldn't have asked for a better way to close that very special dinner.

Yelp
Pedimos sushi, hamburguesa y Yakimeshi. No los recomiendo, no tienen buena sazón. Precio alto para lo que es.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere, wait staff very attentive. We only ordered drinks and appetizers and they were delicious.

Yelp
Really great food , amazing service and perfect location. Everything about this place is good. Definitely a must when visiting this city. So good forgot to take pictures .

Yelp
We had an excellent dinner here. Seemed very popular with the locals. While we dined, there was a very cool musical jazz group and vocalist.

Yelp
This restaurant is amazing! It is a 5-star experience without the price point. Be advised that the portions are giant. One member of our party was afraid they would be small, so ordered two entrees and couldn't even finish one. The highlight was the garlic sauce that comes with the bread service. Absolutely wonderful!

Yelp
El ambiente esta muy bien, la comida de mi familia estaba buena. Yo ordene un corte de carne y no tuvo sabor. Le tuve que poner sal, per al fin de día no fue mi favorito.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant and great service! Stopped for breakfast, and everything was delicious. Right across the Theatro and el Jardin. The fruit was just perfectly ripe and the bread was so fresh and tasty. Everything was very fresh. Would recommend for sure visiting.

Yelp
Just had breakfast this morning it was the best I've had in forever! Looking forward to have dinner here tomorrow. Also breakfast was included with our stay at Hotel 1850. Very classy.

Yelp
Love this place! Great location, great food, and great serve. A place we always hit when we visit Guanajuato.

Yelp
Great restaurant in the center of town. Was able to walk right in on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered two tapas dishes and wish we would have taken pictures. One order was the flank steak in cheese which just melted in your mouth. It was tasty and very tender. Cannot explain the other dish as it had eight different items. Liked all but the tuna but that is because I'm not a fish lover. This is one of the finer restaurants in the city. You will really enjoy the service and the food. We will return for sure! Second visit and once again a great place. This time see the pictures of what we had.

Melissa S.

Yelp
Great place to eat right in-front of the theater, staff very friendly and welcoming, our server Pedro took really good care of us. And great food recommendations. The Cajeta capuccino is a must with the cornbread!

Yelp
So Guanajuato is probably the most amazing city and I've been wanting to visit for a while . My family told me about Casa Valadez and the first night we were around te main plaza spotted the place - we felt underdressed and just checked their hours (opened until 11pm for all of us late foodies!!) We came back the next night without a reservation and the wait was not much (there was only 2 of us so maybe rsvp if you're going with a bigger group ). Dress code - to our surprise there was a wide range - some romantic dates dressed up but then also tourists (like us) with comfortable clothes and without many dress options available ... but we were treated as well as anyone else dining there Food was EXCELLENT and more ! 10/9 yup math error intended. We wanted to eat Nd try everything off their menu so we ended up letting the Chef decide and got the chefs curated menu which was fantastic and pretty filling . But we have heard from friends that there is nothing you can go wrong with in that restaurant . Service was impecable - we had two waiters checking in with us and making us feel at home. Atmosphere - it is at the central plaza right in front of the theatre . Since we didn't reserve we didn't pick where we sat but I would Recommend getting a window booth with a nice view of the streets of Guanajuato (That's certainly what I will do next time I'm there ) Also VERY IMPORTANT- try their Buñuelos for dessert - that is to die for .

Yelp
Great location! Friendly staff. Fast service. The food was awful. FOOD: The molcajete was mostly cheese and a giant onion in the middle. There was meat which was cooked well. It also came with nopal. That was it. No sauce, mole or anything else to accompany it. I got a stomachache from this meal. The absolute worse food we've had in Guanajuato. We also ordered a soup which was decent but not seasoned well and had a lot of white rice in it with no flavor. The bread and sauces that are brought out at the beginning were good. This would be a good place for a group to have wine/drinks and appetizers in a nice environment and location...
google avatar

Yelp
Sheer perfection. The Queens salad. Pork rind appetizer. Great wine selection. Quiet environment with great views of El Jardín. Will come again often!!!
google avatar

Sarah F.

Yelp
Amazing food, great service, perfect for our date night! We had a window seat and were able to watch the action in the plaza. Be prepared that vendors also come to the window, but are not pushy and will leave as soon as you decline. This is a definite for anyone looking for a good meal in a great location!
google avatar

Yelp
One of the top restaurants in Guanajuato. In the center of the plaza. Very elegant with excellent service.

Yelp
Two words: Corn bread. Okay, one more word: Service. This place is a gem. The best location with fantastic service. We were there for 48 hours and we went to Casa Valadez 3 times! Yes, It was THAT good! The cocktails were some of the best I've had. The corn bread is out of this world. Someone please send me the recipe.

Yelp
Beautiful classy spot in Guanajuato. It's right across the street from the iconic theater. For 2 people, with delicious food and drinks we paid about $50 dollars. It's cheaper to eat at the Italian restaurant located at Hotel San Diego and it's also beautiful.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice breakfast in town square at the 1 floor 1850 Hotel and beside have Starbuck. Very good location. 5 star service. But for me I'm not really enjoy breakfast so much. I'm here for lunch too big menu and everything so good.

Yelp

Yelp
We were looking for a good place to eat after touring the town all day, and low and behold we walked into this place and were greeted by the manager who told us the food was excellent. This place was fancier than the neighborhood restaurants and we weren't judge by our appearance (dressed very casual). I ordered a bottle of wine, the rib eye steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus and my daughter had the cheeseburger with fries. Everything was delicious and the service was superb!! If you are visiting Guanajuato give it a try you won't be disappointed!!! Two thumbs up
google avatar

Gerisa A.

Yelp
A famous staple and must have any time you step foot in Guanajuato. The service is amazing and food is exquisite. Each dish is deliciously flavorful and perfectly seasoned. Plating is beautifully done and each dish presentation is a whimsical visual delight. This time around I ordered a perfectly cooked medium rare steak bathed in a rich mole sauce, fried potato balls and plantain surrounded by a tamal. The flavors were out of this world. A delicious bottle of white wine to wash everything down. We enjoyed our evening with two very talented flute and piano players who played lovely melodies while we enjoyed every single bite of food. I highly recommend this restaurant and will keep coming back every time I'm in Guanajuato.

Excellent service Delicious food Beautiful place Good price Nice view Central place

Yelp
There are only two rip-offs in Guanajuato that I know of, and this is one of them. They take advantage of the best location in town, on the corner of the Jardín Union and across from Teatro Juarez. We went in once, a group of about six. We decided to have the house wine. When the bill came, it was about twice what we'd expected. We looked and the house wine was way over 100 pesos a glass, as I recall about 150. For a HOUSE wine in Guanajuato???? House wines here typically run about 50-80 pesos. The waiter informed us that there were FIVE levels of house wine - which he had not informed us about, when we selected it. With 6 people, each drinking about 4 or 5 glasses, you can see where that would add up. We all paid it. We didn't argue it. We just all said among us that that was the last time we ever ate there again. It was. Never again. Oh, and BTW, they get their chicken from Tyson.
google avatar

Jessica R.

Yelp
Yelp got it right. The food here is exquisite and the staff is attentive. I strolled into the establishment and was seated right away. It's a large menu and decided to go with the waiters recommendations. The arrachera was soft and flavorful and the taste of the sweet potatoe and enchiladas was one of a kind. Oh, and don't forget the Mojito X!

Yelp
This is really a fun restaurant to visit, situated on a thriving, beautiful little pedestrian square in this captivating old city. We sat outside and enjoyed the year round wonderful climate (8pm late November in shirt sleeves! The food was delicious, the artisan beer hit the spot and the service was stellar! It was a National Holiday and so we also enjoyed the different live bands and the whole ambience of the city. Hope to be back again sometime soon!

Yelp
This is a wow restaurant. Excellent location, food, atmosphere. What an experience. The staff is just the best, most welcoming, wonderful people. You will not be disappointed even if you have extremely high standards. I would definitely recommend ordering the octopus appetizer. So wonderfully presented. It is right next door to the national theater and a square that is just magical. When we left, the head waiter said it was an honor to serve us. This is a wonderful restaurant
