The Best Pintxos in San Sebastián

"Credited as the birthplace of the iconic pintxo, this original version is alluring yet bracing: a Manzanilla olive, ideally Cantabrian anchovy, and a pickled Guindilla pepper assembled to deliver salt, fat, acid and a touch of heat. It’s traditionally finished with good olive oil and often served on a small slice of bread to soak up the briny, oily goodness, making it a perfect sipped-with-a-zurito or txakoli snack that awakens the appetite for more." - Olivia McDowell

Lovely local tapas and pintxo bar. Really nice selection of traditional cold and hot offers. Choice of seating both indoors and outdoors.

We were just randomly walking around and found this gem. Really good food and interesting parts of meat!

The MOST delicious pintxos stop. Had the original Gilda and a smoked salmon bite - seriously both really clean flavours and the salmon was paired with slightly piquant flavours and no creamy dressing. Great alternative. White wine was lovely and the place was buzzing with locals midday on a Saturday. Initially bit imtimated to order as I don’t have Basque or Spanish - but the service at the bar was very considerate and I’m sure I’m not the first English only speaker to order. I’m here for a few more days and this lively local place is not far from where I’m staying. Would love to come back maybe for a full meal.

I don't give five stars often, but this restaurant IS Five stars. Server was very nice and commend good enough English to recommend what to order and how many. Two euro local White wine is a must try as well.

We ordered the popular cod omelet, and it surely delivered! Great portion with cod visibly throughout, lots of flavour, but not fishy at all! The popularity is real! Would departure out of my way for another bite of this!

Lovely bar restaurant. Unlike others, the place has a waiting list, so it is easier than “hunting” a table. Pintxos were delicious. Service was good and the atmosphere even better

Casa Valles is a small bar restaurant in San Sebastian, and it’s such a lovely and fantastic place. The atmosphere was incredibly welcoming, with extremely friendly and warm Spanish people, as usual. We shared small plates of food and enjoyed rosé and Chardonnay. It was a fantastic experience and a wonderful introduction to Spain. The interior of Casa Valles is charming and cozy, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home, offering recommendations and ensuring we had everything we needed. The food was a delightful mix of traditional Spanish tapas, each dish bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. The rosé and Chardonnay we had were both excellent, pairing beautifully with the variety of small plates we sampled. From fresh seafood to savory meats and cheeses, every bite was a testament to the culinary excellence that San Sebastian is known for. What truly stood out was the genuine hospitality of the staff and the lively, vibrant atmosphere. It felt like a true celebration, with locals and visitors alike enjoying great food and drink in good company. Our afternoon at Casa Valles was not just a meal but an experience, one that left us feeling warmly welcomed and eager to explore more of what Spain has to offer. In summary, Casa Valles provided a memorable dining experience that perfectly encapsulated the warmth and charm of San Sebastian. It was a 100% local atmosphere, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the local culture.
