We are staying for a month in the two-bedroom house at the lodge. It has everything we need. Marcus and Jo are so kind and accommodating. The pool is perfectly clear, peaceful, private and relaxing. We love it here.

VERY COMFORTABLE AND STYLISH My husband and I recently spent a glorious week at Casa Verde Lodge in Puerto Viejo. It was everything we hoped for in a Costa Rican vacation and way, way more. The staff were wonderful and made every effort to make our first visit to the area a perfect one. Simple but stylish rooms with natural fabrics, local art and a wonderful, comfortable bed. The pool is amazing and the restaurant will bring you out superb cocktails and tasty snacks to enjoy poolside. This is a hidden gem right in the heart of the town. I am so glad we found it.

This is the worst lodge/hotel I’ve ever been in. First of all, they got roaches in the bathroom, I don’t know if people are into that thing but I am not. Also you have to ask for bathing towels. I don’t want to go on a vacation worrying about bring towels, it should be given. Food is expensive and not good. They also lock the gate at night, and you have to wait for somebody to open the gate. Some of the rooms don’t have air conditioning and you have to use fans in 90 degrees weather. I have to admit that the water pressure is great here. So great that it hurts my whole body.

Very well located near the center with available private parking which came in very handy for us. Staff & service was correct. Nice pool to chill out when the sun comes out. Carefull when booking a bedroom for 2 (no AC) through booking. Our room didn’t look at all like the pictures, it was situated in the back next to a noisy streat without balcony & hammock.

It's a great representation of Costa Rica and Puerto Viejo. Has the best security and is closed to everything. Local business owners even live here. Mango, star fruit, cacao all growing on property. Beautiful pool. Nothing compares to the location. Marcus is the best concierge. Fridge in room and shared kitchen. Great hospitality and opening a killer restaurant in the next month only to rival the best beachfront dining Puerto Pirata Tiki Bar.

We stayed at Casa Verde for 6 nights and everything was fine until we got home from our vacation and received an email from them in which they unjustifiably claimed that we smoked in the rooms and on the premises. They charged us another night on the credit card. We never violated the house rules and when asked if they had evidence, they talked their way out. On request they didn't want to discuss the matter by phone and didn't answer my emails anymore. Unfortunately, I now had to call in my lawyer and inform my credit card institution, which are now investigating the matter. I have the feeling that they want to compensate for unbooked nights and then protect themselves with their rather long house rules, which you have to sign at the beginning. I will definitely go to Puerto Viejo again in the future, because I have family there, but I will never stay at Casa Verde again and will not recommend it to anyone, because the attitude of the management of the hotel is completely against the understanding of Pura Vida.

My husband, our friend, and I recently stayed here and loved it!! Puerto Viejo is less comercialized than other towns of Costa Rica and Casa Verde Lodge truly helps you comfortably experience the relaxed vibe of the town. Jo, the director of Casa Verde Lodge, was so welcoming!! Her and another staff member, Alvaro really took their time to help direct us to activities that would make our stay as memorable as possible (white water rafting was amazing!!!). The Lodge grounds are decorated with a beautiful garden of local flowers, plants, frogs, crabs, and birds. Both Jo and Alvero were happy to describe details about each plant and creature that greeted us. The rooms we stayed in were air conditioned and Wi-Fi was excellent. We didn't have time to take a dip in the pool even though it was beautiful to look at.... However, my husband and I did take advantage of their masseuse, Daniella. Daniella gave us both deep tissue massages after our white water rafting excursion.... I can honestly say that it was one of the best massages I had ever been given. She truly helped us enjoy the rest of our vacation after she heeled our achy muscles. It also helped that our rooms had a safe to store our wallets etc. The location was perfect... very close walking distance nearby attractions!!! Security and a locked gate to protect our rental car were provided. It is truly a great place to stay in Puerto Viejo. I would stay here again if we make our way back to this adorable Caribbean town.

it was amazing!! i was not the one who payed, i’m a teen, but this is still the best lodge what i stayed at!! the owner, joe, was so kind and she let us feed her, and the service was great! joe had a dog, jessica. she was the sweetest. nothing to be scared about. they also have a sloth family on the property. lots of geckos. but that’s to be expected.
