Where to Taste Ajiaco in Bogotá

"A long-established restaurant (since 1964) that emphasizes authentic Colombian cuisine from around the country, with its signature ajiaco leading the menu; diners are seated amid Belle Époque–style surroundings featuring colonial antiques, paintings and white-tablecloth service in the heart of the capital." - Veronica Stoddart

Found this place on google maps after a few hours layover trip. Great decision, Restaurant is conveniently located, Beautiful decor and atmosphere. Food had amazing flavors and service was also great and our server had amazing food suggestions. From our group We ordered Casa Vieja burger, Kankan chuleta with trifongo, Arroz churrascado, Sampler and Fettuccine with churrasco. All amazing taste. Highly recommended.

Google
The restaurant is located at a converted gas station. The location had plenty of seating and we were attended and seated quickly by our waitress. Menus were found on QR codes on the table but there were also hard copies available. The food was presented well, fresh and their portions were a good amount. However, I found the food over seasoned, salty and well done. We ordered the seafood sampler and the meat sampler and chose not to order entrées. There are no refills on fountain drinks but the waitress was upfront about that which is an additional reason I gave her 5 stars.

Came here looking for a taste of my hometown Puerto Rico while vacationing in Florida and cannot recommend this place enough! The atmosphere, latin music and overall vibes were like being in a chinchorro back in my island. Our server Sonia was very helpful with our orders and made our evening very pleasant. Will def make it a regular stop every vacation!

Google
As a Puerto Rican I’m always skeptical of places and how they make our food. So I walked in expecting mid place. Nope, this place is amazing. Atmosphere, check. Food, check. Service (Angelica) was awesome, amazing service. Thank god I live near by, cause I’ll be back.

Google
The food and vibe was amazing!!! Everything was on point! Denisha was our server she was amazing as well!! Very friendly and sweet! I will definitely be back when I come to Orlando again!!! Thank you Denisha!!! 💕💕💕💕

Google
Casa Vieja absolutely blew us away! The food was spectacular. That "Volcán" dish was on another level.... an unforgettable explosion of flavors, and adding the garlic sauce was hands down the best decision I made. My wife enjoyed her mofongo, although she prefers when it comes with little chunks of chicharrón mixed in... just a personal preference. The bacalaitos were thin, crispy, and perfectly seasoned. The fried cheese with guava was a delicious surprise, and the juices were fresh and tasty. On top of all that, the service was absolutely amazing.... friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. We’re definitely coming back... Highly recommend!!!!

Google
Amazing spot with great food and even better service! Our server, Janelys, was absolutely wonderful, super sweet, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Will definitely be back! Outside was hot but worth it, nice for families.

Yelp
TRUST ME - DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME. This wannabe Puerto Rican restaurant located in an old gas station is a nightmare. Here are some of the details: 1. THE PARKING IS TERRIBLE - It seems that the employees park their cars in the front so that the restaurant always looks full of people. By doing this, they're taking up the parking spots for their customers and making it difficult for them to park. 2.THE MUSIC IS TOO LOUD - If the music had been turned off suddenly, my wife and I would have been screaming at each other. 3. THE BACALAO APPETIZER is NOT AUTHENTIC - These were $8.99 for two pieces and were a poor excuse for 'bacalaito frito'. They are tasteless, very greasy; just some watered down batter that has been over fried. 4. THEY CHARGE FOR WATER - They charge you $2.00 for a bottle of Sam's Club Member's Mark water that they pay $3.99 for the case of 48 bottles. They don't even tell you they are charging you for it. 5. THE FOOD IS HORRIBLE - I ordered the Churrusco Tacos and received 3 tacos with overcooked meat, cold tortillas, three little plastic cups of I don't know what to add to my tacos for $26.99. My wife's meal was even worse. She order the Chuletas de Puerco fritas ($18.99 Fried Pork Chops platter) and received 2 VERY salty, tasteless, over fried pork chops that looked like old shoe leather. The white rice was reheated old rice. The so called salad that came with the meal was a handful of mixed greens that were wilted with no onions, tomatoes or anything else included. It was not edible. 6. THE TOSTONES FIASCO- My wife wanted some tostones. I asked our waitress if the tostones were freshly made to order or sat in a warmer waiting to be served to customers? She stated that they were made to order. In that case, we proceeded to order them. What we received were stale, old tostones that were not edible. They wanted to exchange it for another order, but we declined it and asked to just have the charge removed from our bill. They lie. This is not authentic Puerto Rican food. The 5-Star Reviews are probably their employees and family members. Definitely would not recommend.

Yelp
Denisha fue absolutamente excellente muy bien servicio!! Voy a regresar con amistades y familia.

Yelp
This place, by 1PM, was out of Avacado and Mofungo made from sweet plantains. They were out of all things Maduro. And Florida slow. Surely there are better restaurants with comical boricua. No fruit punch and no one let me know that until the food arrived. Very unprofessional. Food was very good though.

Yelp
Finally a truly authentic, delicious and reasonable PuertoRican restaurant. Service by Janelys was caring and professional. The Alcapurria de Jueyes was exceptional. Huge and very tasty Mofongo Mariscos (lots of seafood), and plentiful Mamposteao de Gandules. We washed it down with genuine Parcha and Tamarindo natural juices for a delightful lunch. The music inside is good, but a bit too loud though. We ate again at home due to the huge portions. Will be back here many times.

Yelp
Hands down! They can cook! Food is very good. Unfortunately, my complaint about the rice coming out lukewarm vs hot was the same experience. Someone please get the memo- we want all our food hot. I had the avocado relleno de camarones (shrimp) in Criolla sauce. My wife had pollo relleno de arroz. Very delicious. However my wife's dish came with cheese on top. Not a fan and we didn't ask for the cheese. When we get the bill- they charged for the cheese, which we didn't ask for. They charged for the shrimp in criolla sauce. Who charges for the sauce being extra? That's a typical dish that most Latino establishments wouldn't charge. If you're not careful they will slip extra costs in. They will automatically charge you and if you're not paying attention you be paying more than what you should. Sadly, they won't even give tap water. You have to buy bottle water! Why? I have no idea but they won't give you water! Now for a lot of people they won't complain because they aren't paying attention or already planning to pay more no matter what. But some of their policies and perhaps workers should be working in integrity. If it's going to cost extra - say it from the beginning.

Yelp
The food it's ok but too expensive and the staff is rude I went there to have a drink with my son and no body even greeted me when I walk in so I decided to don't spend my money here

Yelp
Where do I even begin with Casa Vieja. La comida es riquísima! So pure in the Puerto Rican culture. I felt like I'm with family. They had live entertainment. Of course there was a little bit of a wait but it was worth it. I never mind waiting for amazing food. The restaurant was decorated with items true to our culture and was decorated like San Juan. All of their employees were extremely nice and welcoming. The food did take quite a bit to come out. If you don't mind waiting for food then this would be the place for you. Both of our meals was pure in flavor. Since we came on Father's Day it was so cute to see all the fathers dancing and singing with the dj. I absolutely can't wait to go again. Also before I forget the parking gets packed, but they have people directing you on where to park!

Yelp
Tacoooooossssss! They hit the spot, no doubt in my mind the best tacos in Orlando. I eat tacos all the time from a lot of different restaurants and these are the ones. They can't be beat. Safe to say I'll be back.

Yelp
Still love the pina colada but this go round everything was a bit tooooooo salted !! pork chop still good asf though

Yelp
My review is not based on food. It is based on the customer service. We went in & were immediately seated inside. There is an outside area however, we were not given that option. After waiting 10 minutes, our server never arrived. I flagged the host who told me to use a QR code to view the menu. I asked him for a physical menu as QR codes give scammers access to all my information & i don't feel comfortable scanning QR Codes. What restaurant doesn't have a physical menu? What happens when a senior that is not technologically savvy comes in? This was our first time at this restaurant & the experience was disappointing. We did not eat. We just left & went to Grillers. The service was amazing there & they had physical menus. No comimos. Simplemente nos fuimos a Grillers. El servicio fue increíble y tenían menús físicos.

Yelp
The food was delicious. My only thing is when the mofongo came out it came out dry. They didn't even put a side of mojo on the plate or nothing we had to ask. And then some plates came w/ salad and no dressing. We weren't even asked if we wanted dressing at the time we ordered which should be-asked when serving salad on the side of a plate. We had to ask for dressing and that's when we were asked what kind of dressing . Other than that it was a nice experience.

Yelp
I kept following and seeing the posts for this restaurant online so i decided to' invite my co workers and soldiers then on taco Tuesday because of a WhatsApp community message I received earlier in the day that they were offering $2.50 tacos. When we got there we were greeted right away and sat in a table. We ordered drinks and they were very eatery mentioned that to the server, she didn't say anything about it. Asked for the taco special that they had announced on their social media, through the WhatsApp community and outside and she said they didn't have any tortillas to make the tacos because they were busy on the weekend and they haven't had any since yesterday. How can a restaurant run a "special " and then not offer it. As a business owner anytime I ran out of anything at my restaurant I have to go and buy it and make sure it's available for the customer not only use an excuse that is not offered. We ended up ordering mofongo con carne frita, mamposteado and chicharrones de pollo. The food took forever to come out like 45 minutes. There was only like 3 tables in the restaurant. We asked about the status of food and they said they had issues with the computer system. Then they brought out half of the food and they said because of the issues the kitchen didn't received the other half of the order. After another 20 mins they brought out the rest of the food, didn't even apologized or offer any type of compensation for their delay. Food tasted good but I will be scared of going back or recommending the restaurant to anyone because of the wait and the bait and a switch of daily specials. How can they announce daily specials and not have them available.

Yelp
This is my second time here and the food does not disappoint. The flavor, seasoning is truly taste like home. I have recommended this place several times and when people go based off my recommendation it's always a thank you. Keep in mind everything is cooked after ordering so it may take some time for the food to come out and if it's busy it will take longer but I promise worth the wait. I do feel the waitress could be a little more attentive. The environment is amazing especially if you love the feel of feeling like you're in Puerto Rico.

Sandra C.

Yelp
Good: the environment, the music and maybe the service Not too good: food needed more seasoning. Sodas are by can, so no refills, water by bottle so pay for it and the dessert not in a plate but in a plastic carry on.

Yelp
someone recommend this restaurant. I'm Puertorican so definitely looking out for my people. When you get there it looks like it used to be a gas station before. It looks very nice now the entrance has some paint murals very nice. As soon you walk in is like you are in a Chinchorro in PR. You sit anywhere. The also has an outside patio that you can sit. Is very nice to take pictures. We were prompted by our waiter in a very good time. We order appetizers and drinks. I ordered passion fruit mojito. It was to bitter for my like I asked them if the could add more simple syrup but it still was bitter. But it was very natural and good products i can say that. Definitely you need to get alcapurrias for appetizers sabían como las de mi abuela. Súper ricas. Didn't like much the sorrullitos they were made while they were frozen so they were soaked in grease. El queso con guava souce súper rico. For entrees we order chuleta Kan kan and wow that was amazing with arroz manpostia it was an explosion of flavor. We order the natural juices super good too. Very fresh and natural. Service was nice overall. What I couldn't believe is that they didn't have any dessert. How dare you lol i was so looking forward for dessert. I will say that's why is the 4 star and not 5.

Charlotte M.

Yelp
This spot is one of the best culinary experience's I've had. They serve Puertorican cuisine and everything that was served was top notch and exceeded our expectations . The service was incredible. Our waitress (Isabel or Isabela ) was kind, attentive, and very knowledgeable of the menu. If you ever go there ask for her. I found this place because of a YouTube content creator called "boricua foodie" I will trust every reccomendation he ever gives.

Yelp
Casa Vieja could be so great! It was super busy when we decided to check it out, but thankfully we did find parking. It was super loud inside with the music blasting which made speaking with the hostess challenging, especially with a language barrier. Eventually we were seated outside at a picnic table with a small umbrella that did not provide much shade and it was pretty toasty out. We definitely got thirsty pretty quick sweating in the sun. We had to wait quite awhile before anyone came to help us. We admitted most of us spoke only English and thankfully we had my brother in law who speaks Spanish because all servers prefer Spanish. We ordered some drinks and it took awhile before the drinks came out and they were definitely watered down. At that point, we were ready to order food and went with this huge fried platter to split between us all. The food took some time but we did not see our server again until the food was ready and we were able to order more watered down drinks. I know staff shortages are a thing so I understand but it was still a little much and it did seem that other tables were being tended but not ours. The platter was huge. It was plenty of food for the 5 of us! It came with 2 types of fries, yuca fries, chicken wings, tostones and sausages. Probably more carbs that anything else but it was a good amount of food. The quality was ok... most of the fried items seemed a little cold and and could use a little fresh fry. Loved all of the sauces it came with though! Overall, giving 3 stars for average drinks and food and less than great service.

Yelp
I went here for lunch because I heard they had good food and this place is often busy. My server was friendly, but the rest of the staff and the patrons gave me dirty looks the whole time I was there. The tacos took forever to come out, and what they called "cheese" was some nasty looking off-white liquid that was obviously squirted from a squeeze bottle! Update: This place has been open for over two years at this location. They play super loud music at night. They know they are disturbing hundreds of homes in the are and they don't care. The police are called every weekend and the keep doing it anyway. There was even a special meeting with the county about it 2 years ago. They don't keep their property nice, and the parking is always overflowing. Their patrons have caused a ton of accidents and traffic jams because they are making crazy illegal turns and blocking the intersection. The owner does not care about any of the people who can't sleep at night or who are put in danger by his staff and customers. He only cares about making money.

Yelp
Not so welcoming here..... especially for travelers... Rude host. Didn't greet us at all... looked at us and we said can we get seating for two. She did ask if we wanted to sit outside. Again were traveling back home and our lay over is here in Orlando. This placed seemed like a cool spot to eat and drink. Again we're not from here. We're not locals We were seated outside and thought it was to hot to be outside. Our waiter came and we asked for a drink menu. He said WE DONT HAVE A DRINK MENU. SO no pricing no cute cocktails that are promoted on Instagram. Nothing. We asked how long would the wait be for to go inside. He said idk. The host comes back saying I asked you guys if you wanted to seat inside or outside and referred to the waiter. Again my husband is extremely patient and nice and said we just asked how long the wait is. The host was like well I asked you guys and the wait is like an hr with a unnecessary attitude. She said now you guys have to wait until one of your waiter's tabled open and doesn't know how long that will be as of know they're seating system. Right away I was like let's go. We don't need this rude hospitality if we came to enjoy ourselves during our layover and get check out Orlando. Terrible horrible service. Sad that it turn out that way because I was really looking forward to having drinks and try new food.
google avatar

Chelsea P.

Yelp
Wow! Where do I begin. The drinks were not the best, and I didn't taste any liquor in the Margarita. However the service and food were amazing. They have menus in English, however our waitress didn't speak much English- thank goodness our friends were there and speak Spanish. We ordered Paella, Fried Pork Chop and Grilled Chicken. I will definitely be returning, even thought I may have to use my Google Translate, just so I can try more items.
google avatar

Carla R.

Yelp
The food is really good. So far best PRican food after 8 yrs in Orlando. Had chuleta can can with mampoteao, mofongo mar y Tierra con spicy crab and mofongo con churrasco. The alcapurrias de corned beef were amazing. The queso frito too. The frozen sangria was really good. Our server was very nice. Note: The hostess of the Saturday before Mother's Day at around 5pm had an attitude from h-e-l-l!! Very rude

Jose A. T.

Yelp
La comida es muy buena. El menú es variado y sofisticado. El ambiente es agradable, aunque un poco pequeño. Los precios son razonables, tomando en cuenta las raciones que se sirven.

Yelp
Don't pass up a visit to the Casa. Really, don't pass it, the place is easy to miss. It sits in a spot that appears to have been a gas station or auto service shop, so it doesn't fit the standard look of a restaurant. However, the food here is really good. Came in for dinner on a rainy evening and the place was fairly slow. As I looked over the menu trying to decide from their extensive offerings, I noticed what seemed to be an area for a stage. I asked or server and was told they have live music on certain days. But I digress, I stopped into the Casa for some food, and food we had. I ordered the Aguacates Rellenos or stuffed avocado. I chose chicken with garlic sauce as the stuffing. A really unique dish that was flavorful and satisfying. My partner had the Mofongos Rellenos or Stuffed Mashed Plantains stuffed with shrimp. It was enjoyed as well. The portion sizes were ample as we both had enough to take home. Really good vibes at the Casa! I will be back to enjoy the food again.

Martha P.

Yelp
Excelente servicio y comida légamos después de viajar todo el día y al llegar a este lugar es como estar en casa
google avatar

Wesley P.

I cannot imagine when is a weekend here you would never eat. I you are in a hurry please do you a favor don't come here to eat. Took more than an a hour to serve us. The food it taste pretty good the mofongo and carne frita was good. Rice with longaniza never to be found. I will come again but without hurry

Javier R.

Yelp
The service from the staff is amazing!!! The food is Puerto Rican food and is really good. My wife asked for a regular mojito and it's was a water down mojito and overpriced. The only mayor problem that I see in this business, is that the music is really loud and basically you have to scream if you want to talk with the waitress or the other people in your table. This business have a lot of potential to be an awesome place to come and eat or hang out.
google avatar

Kat R.

Yelp
Que Ricoooooo!!! Delicious food, love the vibes , great atmosphere music... we sat at bar, Michael hooked me up with delicious lemon and strawberry mojito...food was amazing, loved the presentation KUDOS TO ALL LOS QUIERO MUCHO!! Los veo pronto!
google avatar

Libby C.

Yelp
We went with a big group of people we were a party of 20 they didn't move the table together so we all had to sit separately in different tables, but that's not all the food was expensive for the quality the stuffed avocado was hard we could eat it. Our friend in our party didn't even get his food and they didn't offered to take care of his bill. I ordered a bean soup and they brought it with a plastic spoon when I asked for silverware, they said all we have are plastic so please make sure you bring your own silverware to this restaurant, the drinks were late my husband asked for vodka tonic, and the waitress kept on, throwing it out thinking it was water, we finally said what happened to our drinks the. waitress was clueless told us she thought it was water, I don't think we'll be coming back to this restaurant. What really pissed me off was EVERYTHING.

Yelp
Excellent Happy Hour wings ...nice wings reming me of the Hollywood Cafe in Ponce, Puerto Rico Happy Hours. Love this place

Juan Carlos A.

Yelp
Worst service ever, 40 min just to get our food, don't go there, the food was so so, just the breakfast was ok, the lasagna and hamburguer not tasty at all
google avatar

Ricardo B.

Yelp
Beware of waitresses that manipulates your tip once you leave the place. I hate places that do so and this is one of those where they will add more to your bill. Slick way to steal customers money. Do not visit this business.

Aleinad C.

Yelp
Food is great! It reminded me of my grandmother and my family from PR. The Service is ok, the waiters aren't friendly but they are nice. Long wait in between each interaction with the server. Margaritas are strong, which I love!! Music is great, the decorations are awesome!

Shannon B.

Yelp
Comida excelente, pero uno ordena por telefono para recoger, paga el total con tarjeta de débito y luego al otro día te an cobrado 10 dólares extra de tip cuando uno no comió en el restaurante,ahí que estar pendiente a las transacciones
google avatar

Stephanie B.

Yelp
My first time coming to this place it took over an hour to sit us down at a table and over two hours to get our food. After all the food had reached the table the server comes to me and tells me that the kitchen forgot to put in my food and it was going to take 15 min to make. I tell them to make my plate and they took over 35 min to make the plate after everyone had eaten. At this point I waited two and half hours to get my food that I had to take TO GO and they didn't even have the decency to take my plate off the bill. The food all around was really good but the service was kind of trash.
google avatar

Jesus G.

Yelp
This was a gas station converted to a restaurant. Not a bad idea for the exception. NO PARKING If you get there early then yes you'll find a spot but leave right after you eat or you'll be blocked in by other cars. No respect they will just block you in and he'll to find the owners who blocked you in. Well the place is very loud, too loud for my likings while eating dinner.
google avatar

Jimmy V.

Yelp
Asked for a Diet Coke or Pepsi and was told they don't carry diet sodas. I guess diabetics shouldn't eat here

Anaxcel A.

Yelp
Loved...

Gladys N.

Yelp
Joey the bartender was great. Food was delicious and customer service was great. Well differently go back.Drinks were on point.

Yelp
Took a 30 minute drive tonight to have to turn around and come back home. Parking is horrific.

Gretchen P.

Yelp
So disappointed. Bring your on utensil and cups. Overpriced. So not worth it !! food was mediocre not worth it

Yelp
We have passed this place so many times, and we wish we had tried it sooner. Wonderful service and great food. We will definitely return!

Rachenaly R.

Yelp
I love this place, Me and my husband consider this place our spot to eat , get some drinks while enjoying as a family. Well last time service was not that good and when I meen not GOOD I AM BEING FOR REAL! Waitress was awesome, but the lady on front near door , wow what a poor customer service. We were a family of 8. I told her we were going to be in the back while we wait. Well after me trying to sit inside there were 3 big tables empty. I asked her if we were able to sit in the very first table since I had a big stroller. The lady got upset and said why you can't sit in the middle table and put the stroller in between. I told her well it will be very uncomfortable for us and any other guest that will sit in the other table since stroller will be on their way. This lady with a nasty attitude decided to slam every single chair and with an attitude told me sit on that one. I am guessing she was very confident because of her being related to the owners. Since then we haven't returned.

Zaida A.

Yelp
El mofongo relleno de churrasco espectacular! Los cocktails con jugo de parcha on point. Great service!
google avatar

Antonio M.

Yelp
Nayeli's exceeded our expectations. She check on us frequently while we were waiting for our table and offered drinks and appetizers. Once we were seated she ensured our food came in as expected .

Luis C.

Yelp
I was really impressed with the food, cool atmosphere and the presentation, bathrooms decoration is crazy, unique and original. Definitely a most go, my wife and me had a lots of fun with the karaoke Sunday.

Vic B.

Yelp
Visited this wkend and had the most unpleasant pollo a la plancha and pork chunks. Both came out drenched in oil and crema and the chicken was barely cooked. Waste of money!

Jose P.

Yelp
Son tremendos puercos. Hostess took my number down to text me when a table is available, then continued to immediately sit everyone else that came in after us. I was only a party of 3 and they couldn't accommodate us when bigger parties came in after and got sat immediately. Totally does not seem like the place that would take reservations. We drove up the road and was sat immediately at " the porch". Almost done with my meal here, and I NEVER got a text almost an hour later! I'm Puerto Rican and even i felt unwelcome here. Seems almost as if the same people are cliqued up here and that's it. Low key ghetto.

Kiara S.

Yelp
Second time visiting because I really love the customer service the first time around. For my surprise and dissapointment this time we got the same server but service was not so good. We got there around 1:30pm and it was not too busy they even had empty tables available, we waiting untill 3:30 when we finally were served our food, even when we waited so long the server didn't even apologize for the wait at any point of our visit. Will think twice before visiting again. The 3 stars raiting is based on food because it was really good as usual.

Mari M.

Yelp
I love Casa Vieja! the staff is friendly the food is really good. The kitchen is a little slow because the restaurant is always packed but its worth the wait. Recommendation: Alcapurrias Mofongo de pulpo con crab meat Pechuga rellena de yuca Arroz mamposteao tostones de pana Chichaito and mojito de coco Are my favorite!
