Casa Vina de Alcantara, near Jerez, Spain - Explore & Book

"Gonzalo del Rio y Gonzalez-Gordon has waved his magic decorative wand at Casa Alcántara to create a hotel of cool, subtle elegance. This former hunting lodge stands among mature forest on the edge of the family’s vineyards: the palomino grapes for their Tio Pepe sherry are grown here. The delicate, deco-ish façade is evocative of the French Riviera, a feeling heightened by twin cypresses flanking the main entrance and slender washingtonia palms. A team of butlers will be there to greet you, whisk your bags to your room, and pamper you throughout your stay. There is more than a hint of Graham Greene: drinks delivered on a silver tray, silver service at breakfast, eggs poached or scrambled... The decorative style incorporates oil paintings, antiques, frescoes and floors of polished buff limestone. Bedrooms and bathrooms are superb; secreted away in the garden is a spectacular pool whose obsidian finish mirrors the surrounding forest. Highs The cool interiors and shady gardens are a real oasis, especially during the hotter monthsExtraordinarily attentive service from team of butlers whose enthusiasm makes up for their limited EnglishWe enjoyed lounging in the drawing room with our afternoon tea ( it's also a great spot for pre-dinner drinks)All fittings, linen, mattresses and fabrics are top-of-the-range: the hotel breathes an air of solid well-beingA really stylish place to stay near Jerez, and a great base for touring the white villages, visiting sherry bodegas or playing golf at Montecastillo or Arcos Lows You’re close to the old Jerez-Arcos road, but a new motorway has taken much of the traffic awayYou may not get to meet Gonzalo, but you will instead be in the caring and capable hands of Maria, his daughterUnless requested in advance, no meals other than breakfast are served, but you are just 10 minutes from central Jerez and 2 minutes from one of its best restaurantsYou will need a car, clearly" - Guy Hunter Watts

Beautiful house located literally a handful of minutes away from the racetrack, and 10 min drive from the city. The house has a lot of space for groups (we were 14) and each room is spacious and has its own private bathroom, with a light and airy feeling. It has a lot of space to park cars, in a private and secure way - space for at least 12 cars easily, and low cars can enter easily with no problems. The staff members are incredibly nice and efficient, the home is beautiful inside and out, the garden has a lovely pool area thats perfect to swim or even just lounge in the sun in and the host very friendly and focused on making things easy for us. Will be returning here every time I come to Jerez de la Frontera!

One of the best hidden gems in Andalusia. Amazing service, huge beds, total silence. Just perfect.

What a peaceful and elegant manor/inn this is! We spent just one night in the Jerez/Arcos region and wished we had planned for a longer stay. The room was cool and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful, especially the pool. The breakfast was great. The staff couldn't have done more to make our stay enjoyable. We also received a very good restaurant recommendation. We highly recommend this place!

On our 3 week self-tour of Andalucia, we had 4 nights of 'outer-city' stays to rest, 2 nights here at Alcantara. We are so glad we discovered this haven, via i-escape, online. Although totally out of season, with no other guests to mix with, we loved our stay here. Our room was sizeable, with Emperor bed and marble adorned bath/shower/wc en-suite. Casa Vina is an historical home, still in the ownership of the Gonzalez-Byess (Tio Pepe) family, surrounded by vineyards and set amidst lovely gardens, furnished with beautiful antique furniture/art. In summer, the pool must be just wonderful, but too chilly for us! A walk amongst the finished vines in surroubding fields behind the house, in the Winter sun was lovely on our first day, followed by a Fino from the honesty bar. We took a trip to Jerez city itself the next day where we had an evening meal (taxi €25 every bit worth it rather than drive near the city!) which was lovely, but even lovelier to arrive back to this peaceful haven. Silver service breakfast was included and taken in the beautiful dining room downstairs, we didnt know about it, but apparently you can arrange an evening meal in advance which no doubt would be fantastic as travel out to a restaurant is at least 5k away, or all the way 20mins in a can to Jerez itself. This stay was one of more expensive, but worth every bit of that. Sadly we didnt meet an owner, but Jorgé looked after us well. We would recommend this place for sure!

A beautifully restored little country house that has been in the family since around 1900. Interior decor and furnishings beautiful - cool, elegant, relaxed, comfortable and very tasteful - the owner is an interior designer and it shows. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive - nothing was too much trouble. Excellent breakfasts. Very nice gardens and grounds for sitting out in. Nice walks in the neighbouring vineyards. Altogether a very upmarket and very high quality experience. Would return here without hesitation and recommend it very highly.

We found this delightful place thanks to Alastair Sawday, who has very rarely let us down. We wanted somewhere to stay on our last night before going to see a bodega and then flying home from Seville. We got in a muddle trying to find the place essentially because I'm cheap and our maps were out of date. However it's dead easy if you approach via the E5 motorway and take the exit to Arcos. The hotel is on the right hand side about a mile beyond an adobe style hotel, which you can't miss but you can miss Casa Vina because the sign is not that obvious and masked by some vegetation. ||The hotel could once have been someone's charming small country house, set in its own well maintained park and garden. We were met by Alex who speaks good English and was very welcoming and helpful. Our air-conditioned room was on the ground floor, with very comfortable twin beds and a fully equipped bathroom. ||We sat in the garden for a while in the evening before changing for dinner and my wife did 100 (so she claims) lengths of the pool. We had opted for tapas some weeks ahead and sat in the elegant dining room which also had a drawing room off with an honesty bar. The meal, prepared and served by Alex, was simple and delicious. The owners very kindly provided us with a bottle of their own (Gonzalez Byass) rosado, which was pale, dry and whatever is the Spanish for 'comme il faut'.||Breakfast was taken in the garden, again served by the ever present Alex. There was plenty of cereals, fruit and orange juice, plus eggs and bacon, toast and coffee. "Comme il faut" x 2.||After breakfast we stretched our legs in the grounds before setting off for a tour of the Gonzalez Byass bodega, which has much to be recommended, including the shop at the end.

Very comfortable elegant accommodation. We stayed one night here on our way to Gaucin from Portugal. The room was extremely comfortable. It is a very interesting building with several family photos and memorabilia from the owner. Plenty of space to walk and wander in the grounds,||||A previous reviewer mentioned the motor racing circuit which is close by. There was some noise on occasions on the Saturday afternoon that we were there, but it does not intrude too much. ||||A very comfortable overnight stay.

I stayed here with my wife last month. It is paradise. It used to be the country house of the Byas Gonzalas (yes those). It is beautiful and peaceful. About 8-9 km outside of Jerez it a great place to unwind from the stresses of life. Lovely pool and gardens. The staff are so friendly and it is not that big - maybe 8 rooms in total. This was our second stay here and i am just booking to go again next year!
