Casa Zuniga Bed and Breakfast | Retreats & Spa in Guanajuato

This was easily one of the best places I’ve stayed in Mexico. From the moment we arrived, Billy and Ari were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. ​The property itself is stunning, filled with beautiful decor, local art, and impressive metalwork. It offers what has to be the most incredible view over all of Guanajuato. Every morning started with a delicious, hearty breakfast—they even have a talented barista on-site making the best coffee we’ve had on our trip! ​Billy’s local recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing were spot on and helped us navigate the city like locals. Casa Zuniga is an amazing bed and breakfast. It is huge for having such a limited number of guest rooms. Every inch of the place is high end decorations and art. The owners/staff are extremely engaging, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fabulous. The location is very near the funicular and the La Pipila Monument and you are provided with a punch card pass for the funicular or you can walk up through the alleys and view the amazing murals en route. Do yourself a favor and stay here. The views, the pool, the rooms and the people are the best.

This was my second stay at Casa Zuñiga in Guanajuato and it was even better than last year. Ari, Billy, Carmen and their staff are wonderful, warm hosts who take care to make their guests feel like family. They offer breakfast each morning, cooked by the amazing Ari, where you can look out over El Centro of the city from the top of the ridge near El Pipila statue. They provide a card that affords you 8 free rides on the funicular that runs between their location and El Centro. And in each room is a booklet of interesting cultural sights and restaurant recommendations. The property is artistically styled, with lots of metal creations by Ari's late father, who built this home, and whose legacy is lovingly preserved by his family. Now that I've stayed in a lot of AirBnB's in Mexico, I can say that this is, by far, the best one of all, because (unlike the generic claim on most AirBnB's that you are staying in someone's home, but in actuality it's a rental where you seldom interact with the owners), at Casa Zuñiga you are actually in the home with the family (who has their own private wing), and you feel infinitely welcomed and cared for by actual people! They are available when needed, and leave you your privacy to enjoy your vacation. Rooms are all different, with beautiful artwork, rugs, desks, and spacious bathrooms, and many have amazing views from patios. Casa Zuniga completes the warm experience of Guanajuato. Hospitality combined with history, creativity and beauty. The bed is expansive and comfortable the shower is hot, the view is 5 star, the pool refreshing and the breakfast is homemade, generous, colorful and delicious! This place was great! Exactly what we’d hoped for and rarely find. Where to begin? Guanajuato is all hills, which for us (me 67 and with my confidence a bit shaken by a broken ankle last year) was a bit of a challenge. The height makes for glorious views but steep descents and climbs. Casa Zuniga is right by the funicular. Problem solved. Billy and Ari are delightful hosts, and the breakfast part of B&B gave us the opportunity to meet our fellow guests and find dinner buddies, as well as get the good info on the town. Our room was comfortable and had a terrace with a terrific view. Wonderful choice I made, if I do say so myself.

I have stayed at B&B’s throughout Mexico and this was one of the most beautiful and architecturally interesting ones ever. Original metal sculptures, murals and tile work throughout. A visual feast around every corner. The hosts Billy and Ari were the BEST and the gourmet breakfasts a feast. Casa Zuniga is in itself an education in Mexican Colonial history through its murals. Huge lap swimming pool. Gorgeous views. Luxurious rooms. I could not have asked hoped for more. Guanajuato and Casa Zuniga are a must for travel to Mexico.

Staying at Casa Zuniga was an excellent choice. We had a nice large room with comfortable beds, the breakfasts were wonderful, the view from the balcony overlooking the old city is beautiful, and the hosts are friendly and helpful. It’s beside the funicular but we (in our 60s) found we didn’t need it. We went up and down the callejon (narrow pedestrian street/stairs) in under 10 minutes. On the way up you can take a break, catch your breath and admire the view!

This place ticks all the boxes! Excellent location with easy access to the city center. Amazing views from the property itself. Ari and Billy go beyond I expected. As a touring cyclist, it was great to have Billy as a host. He is also a keen cyclist. Spent 3 super relaxing nights here. Would love to go back to Guanajuato and this is the place I would want to stay at. This was the highlight of my 1 month of bicycle tour in Mexico December 2025. Thanks Billy and Ari!
