We had lunch at Casablanca restaurant this week. I had been looking forward to visiting this restaurant for quite some time so the disappointment once I did eat here was even greater than if we had just wandered in. We ordered an array of hors d'heuvres rather than a main dish. Our order included Muhamarra, Taboule, Warah Inab (stuffed grape leaves), Arayas carne (meat stuffed pita bread), lemon hummus and a vegetable plate. I have enjoyed alot of middle eastern food, and I must say that I found the food at Casablanca lacking in inspiration. The seasoning was just not at the level that would have made the dishes shine. Instead they were run of the mill. I ate a bit but left most to my dining companion to take home to spice up. The singular exception were the stuffed grape leaves which were delicious. Its too bad that the owners-chefs do not do more to spice up the offerings instead of serving such bland Morocon food. My dining companion enjoyed the meal which is why I gave it a 4 star instead of a 3. In my opinion it just did not stack up well to other middle eastern and north African food I have enjoyed in Barcelona.
