We just returned from a short 4 day stay. We had read of so many positive reviews and had seen glowing accounts on YouTube. Casablanca far exceeded our expectations. Owners Kelly and Sherry made us feel very welcome. We spoke at length in the pool about our common interests. We felt they were as great a pair of hosts as one's own family. What is also remarkable is that Casablanca Guest House seems to attract great guests. We really liked all of the others we met and feel that if we come across any of them in the future it will be a great reunion. We never expected to make such great friends at a clothing optional guest house. We can't say enough good things about the other guests. Thank you Kelly and Sherry for this place. We want to come back!

Absolutely amazing stay at Casablanca, in Dec 2024. We loved everything about this place and would highly recommend. A very well designed space that offers privacy as well as areas to socialize. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and the on-site dogs were a highlight (especially Selena!). A little off the beaten path which was perfect for us - only about a 10 minute walk to the beach and town. Thank you Kelly and Shari for such a wonderful and relaxing vacation!!

I almost don’t want to write this review – it would mean keeping this paradise a secret for my own future use. But as a public service, I’m really happy to provide a recap of our experience at Casablanca in Zipolite, Mexico.| |This is a very beautiful property, perched on a hill overlooking its own beach and the rugged coastline. There are 4 rooms (and a new one to be available within the coming months). Each is self-contained with a generously sized sleeping area, bathroom, kitchen and eating / lounge space. The kitchen is well equipped with fridge, coffee maker, blender, toaster, kettle and hotplate. There are ample pots, bowls, plates, cutlery and utensils to make your own meal, if you wish. A supply of coffee, tea, sugar, salt, pepper and olive oil is conveniently provided. The bed is king sized and incredibly comfortable. You can enjoy the ocean breeze through your front (screened) doors or close them when you want air conditioning to make sleeping easier. Plush towels, make up mirror and hair dryer are provided, and the walk in shower has shampoo, conditioner and soap.| |A differentiating feature at Casablanca is the ability to drink tap water – so convenient!| |The room is spotlessly clean and was maintained throughout our stay.| |Upstairs, there is an infinity pool. There are lots of pluses for this property, and the pool is a definite attraction. It offers built in seating spaces, has sun in the morning, and diminishing through the day until about 2:30 ish when it is in full shade (really smart people designed its location!). Like everything else, the pool is meticulously maintained and a true oasis. An outdoor shower is conveniently provided to wash off sunscreen or sand before entering the pool.| |Lots of lounging space – from a double recliner overlooking the ocean, to adjustable recliners that can be moved between shade and sun. Pool loungers are thoughtfully available.| |There is a communal area with tables, a fridge (for convenient drink storage), dart board and cornhole boards. Lots of opportunities to engage with the friendly hosts or other guests. Or to find a secluded spot to read and relax.| |The guesthouse is just west of Ziplite Beach and an easy walk – about 1,000 steps! (As an aside, you will pass Orale Café on your way to town or the beach; it is simply the best breakfast restaurant in the area. We provide a separate review for this treasure.) We went to the beach every morning for a walk, and then to town every evening for dinner. The location is ideal and we really enjoyed Casablanca’s separation from the beach – we could go to Zipolite for meals or when we wanted the busyness and noise that accompanies a tourist area, but usually preferred quiet and relaxation at Casablanca. And did we mention the pool??!! | |The entire property is made more special though, the attentiveness of its hosts – Kelly and Sherry. They are warm and thoughtful, and fun to spend time with. They clearly love their house and are happy to share it with guests. We also enjoyed the canine family members – from playful and affectionate Bella to steady Spanky – they are a friendly group who are a joy to interact with.| |We would return to Casablanca in a heartbeat – never have we felt so welcomed and enjoyed such relaxation. It is a truly special place.

A lovely, clean house perched on a hillside overlooking a pebbly beach, licked by waves crashing around rock gardens. It is peaceful and great until the afternoon naked pool party that runs from roughly 3pm to 8pm daily. Expect to hear some party noises and whiff some pot during that time. We are a couple, and were welcomed with a thorough indocrination of the house rules. I made the transgression of violating one of the rules during the first few hours of my stay. I emerged from the pool and did not dry off immediately before stepping off one of the little blue mats at the edge of the pool. The male owner yelled at me in front of the other guests, and chased my water drippings with a mop. I was sternly instructed to grab a towel and to not leave a trace of drippings near the pool for safety reasons in the future. I felt publicly humiliated, and thus did not feel comfortable using the pool during the remainder of my stay. The female owner's only interaction with me the following day was to instruct me on the proper disposition of the patio umbrella I was using to shelter from them. Apparently, I should have refrained from extending the umbrella past the metal collar on the base for my own safety. Perhaps an addition to the encyclopedic house rules or a passive-aggressive sign is in order. I did not feel respected as a paying guest, and thus I would not choose to stay here again despite the beauty of the venue.

This is a wonderful hidden gem. My wife and I spent 5 days relaxing, hearing the waves, catching some sun, and drinking Palomar. The hosts are fantastic and very helpful. Walking to town was a little challenging due to the humidity due to the unprecedented rains we experienced. Luckily, there are a few restaurants and delivery options that we did not suffer. In addition, the full kitchen allowed us to have breakfast on our private deck and enjoy the nice breeze. We will definitely come back and hopefully spend more time.

We can't recommend Casablanca enough. We spent 4 nights there and loved our stay. Kelly and Sherri were great hosts and great people. The pool, loungers and patio were all immaculate. The room was very comfortable with everything you need. We would DEFINITELY stay here again if we get the chance. Thanks so much.

My husband and I spent 2 weeks here in June and I almost hesitate to write this review because I would love to return and want there to be a room available! However, Kelly and Sherry deserve to be recognized for the excellent job they have done with Casablanca. It was a truly amazing experience!|1- The VIEW: we couldn’t get enough of the waves crashing over the rocks. Absolutely mesmerizing!|2- The POOL: it was deliciously warm and inviting with the VIEW. We spent so many hours enjoying it!|3- The BED: it was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on! The mattress, sheets, blanket, pillows were just perfect!|4- The WATER: After many, many weeks spent vacationing in Mexico, I can’t even convey what a big deal it is to have fresh, drinkable water from the tap! What an over the top extra perk! |5- KELLY & SHERRY! This is only the 2nd time we have stayed at a place where hosts live there and were present. We were a bit nervous about this but we had no need to be. Kelly and Sherry are two of the most likable, fun, laid back humans you could ever hope to meet! They totally are experts at reading their guests wants/needs and are so fun to hang out with, but also give you space and privacy as well. We spent a day on the beach with them and went to dinner with them several times. What a treat! Sherry also drove us to a grocery store to stock us up on our first day. |6- A/C and HOT WATER: this is not common for the area and we are at an age it’s super important. So nice!|7- ROOM: they thought of everything! Kitchenette including a microwave with a broiler, coffee pot, grill, everything you may need. Plenty of hooks to hang things, safe (not that it’s needed), towels, and maid service. ||Zipolite and the area:|Typically, we are beach people and spend our days there on vacation. Casablanca was so nice that there were many days we never even left. When we did, we took the 15 min walk (down a bunch of steps) and went to Zipolite beach. It’s beautiful, but waves can be intense! We visited several beach clubs/hotels/restaurants. Most seemed to be ok with us sitting in chairs/beds and consuming food and drinks in exchange. We loved the shade and beds at Budamar but the “price” to use them seemed to change daily. The entire beach is clothing optional and some days there were people naked everywhere, and some days we were the only ones. We were there in low season and I’m sure this is different in high season. |This area has some amazing restaurants! These are some we went to and loved:|- El Alquimista: pricy for the area, but the view, ambiance, food and service are spectacular and shouldn’t be missed!|- Sal y Pimienta (Salt & Pepper): delicious fish meal|-Órale: consistently delicious breakfast and lunch. We went here many times!|-Mao Mou: excellent Thai food and service|- DonDe Franco: great Italian food!|There were others, but these were our favorites!||We did rent a scooter one day and went to Mazunte. Fun place with a hippy vibe and beautiful beach. ||We can’t wait to return to Zippo and Casablanca! Currently working on my corn hole game Kelly! Can’t wait to come back to your slice of paradise! Well done!!!

We stayed for a week here and really enjoyed our stay. It’s a clothing optional hotel, with 4-5 other rooms, we had the place mostly to ourselves in November. An infinity pool overlooking the beach where we saw whales breaching in the distance. The hosts are very easy going and friendly. It’s located a short walk from town that involves quite a climb up a staircase, there are not other options for restaurants and bars closer, we definitely got tired of the hike into town to eat. There are cooking facilities available (the knife was sooo blunt though). The staircase to the beach has been destroyed by the recent hurricane so access was a bit dodgy. The room was comfortable and had air conditioning. The water is drinkable but very hard, the shower pressure sucks. Overall a beautiful location with friendly hosts.

Yelp
One of my favorite things in this world is finding secret gems before they become popular, and then having the opportunity to roll my eyes and deep sigh when months later people start raving about the place I already knew about. Casablanca Guest House is one of those places. As D and I relaxed in the pool, we mused about how we should probably try to book our next stay before they become too popular for us to get back. The property is gorgeous. It's one of the few hotels that somehow manages to look as good, if not better, than the photos online portray. The location is beautiful, and perfectly quiet except for the waves crashing against the shore. A short walk down a dirt path into town, it's the best combination of quiet and remote yet with the convenience of being near all of the restaurants. The rooms are lovely, and perfectly kept. Each one with an ocean view. The added bonus is of course that we could drink straight from the tap and had a full kitchen so we could save a bit on meals. And the pool... I can't imagine anything more relaxing than going for a walk and then cooling off in the gorgeous salt water pool, staring out at the ocean. Kelly and Sherry are incredible hosts. They truly made us feel welcome at their property and were beyond gracious. Absolutely worth the trip!

Yelp
I'm a little late getting onboard with Yelp. We were lucky guests at Casablanca for an extended period last season. Indeed, the previous reviews summed it up nicely. Here is an oasis on the edge of a magical beach town. Close enough to easily walk to the wide variety of cuisines available in Zipolite, yet just slightly off the beaten path enough to be oh so tranquil. The best of both worlds, with A/C, equipped kitchens, drinkable filtered water from the tap, full size fridge, ample storage, plentiful electrical outlets and hot water (if you think you need it) in every room. We were booked to return, before we left. Did I mention the hosts? Kelly & Sherry are super knowledgeable of the area and will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and as relaxing and/or busy as you would like it to be. I tried to make it 6 stars but...
