"Casaluz: Rustic-Chic Chilean Dining The menu here has a Spanish influence (the owners met in Barcelona ), with dishes such as patatas bravas and crema catalana. The look is both chic and rustic: brick walls, leather studded sofas, and two patios for alfresco dining. This appeared in the May 2014 issue. By Afar Magazine"

Cool atmosphere, friendly staff, fantastic food and drinks. I wish I would've still had room for dessert! Worth visiting if in the area, may need a reservation if coming during a busier time or with a group.

We had such a great time! The food is wonderful! Both times Angel suggested us a very nice wine, and great food. The whole staff is extremely nice and the atmosphere is great. As a visitor to Santiago I highly recommend for a nice dinner and a great experience. They have both traditional stuff like ceviche and empanadas, but also a nice steak and pasta. A little bit for everyone. Might comeback tomorrow for our last night :))

What a gem. We wandered the barrio Italia aimlessly and came across this gem of a restaurant. Although we had to dine at the bar (all tables had been booked) we had an outstanding experience. The owner helped us choose our dinner and wine and only revealed at the end that he actually owned the place. Can highly recommend the seared tuna and the specialty cocktails.

If the weather is cooperative and you're here for an evening meal, please book the terrace. It is so very nice!! Our server was great, as was the food and wine. The reason I'm only giving 3 stars is for their lack of flexibility. I have a gluten allergy. They REFUSED to sub out the gluten side for another non-gluten side (there were several on the menu). I was offered a side of mote. It has gluten. In the end, I had a large plate with a small steak in the middle. I ordered a side salad to accompany, which was nothing but greens and dressing. And I had to pay for that side. Ridiculous. First time I've ever had an experience like this. It's an allergy!!! Be more accommodating, please.

Drinks were phenomenal and food was great. Service was slow even though I arrived before the dinner crowd.

Such a beautiful location, a warm and cozy space. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, the cocktails super tasty, but the food was underwhelming. The duck spring rolls were cold, quinoa salad meh and the pad Thai had over cooked noodles. The slow cooked beef was very good, however.

Casaluz provides dinner in a beautiful setting. The back patio is spectacular on a warm evening and the dining room is cute as well. The dishes we well constructed and visually pleasing, but the flavors weren't quite as mind blowing as I had hoped. Service was initially fantastic but died off quite a bit by the end of the meal, making it a challenge to get our bill. Cocktails were good, 4 out of 5 as well. I would say Casaluz is still worth a visit.

This restaurant is absolutely divine! My husband and I had the best dinner of our entire visit to Chile here. We speak Spanish, but it was really nice that a lot of the hosts and waiters spoke English as well! Absolutely coming back here on our next visit to Santiago.

Yelp
Area: safe + cute vibes with shops Food: 10/10 upscale mix of cuisine with lots of Chilean local ingredients Service: great with some people who speak English but mostly it's Spanish only Situated at the edge of Barrio Italia neighborhood, this gem of a restaurant resembles the houses in the area with its tall ceilings and beautiful courtyard seating. It looks like a Victorian era style with the wide checkered floors and moody dark tone interior. All to say, the ambiance is a chíc. The food was delicious and paired well with the local red wine was a little sweet and light, Cabernet. The ribeye steak Chileneo cut was delicious with just a little bit of fat skin but not enough for it be annoying to eat around. The pork slaughter was perfectly cooked and tender. The corn side dish was delicious as well. The octopus... if you like seafood this is a must!

Yelp
Quaint, unpretentious, unique, quirky, fun, cozy, welcoming...the list of superlatives can be extensive when describing this place. The back patio area at Casaluz is dreamlike and absolutely gorgeous: after a long day of walking in the hot Santiago sun, a few pisco sours in the garden was nothing short of pure bliss. The cocktails are extraordinary and made with obvious understanding and expertise; even the most basic and common drink here is superb. The food at Casaluz is current, and they put a lot of thought into presentation. Ingredients are fresh and diverse, and their salads are especially enticing. Because they offer tapas, you can sample a wide range of flavors, but the croquetas de jamon Ibérico were my favorite dish. An absolute gem that delivers on service, food, drinks, and especially ambiance. A must if you're in Santiago!

Yelp
So I just had lunch here. My friend Rodrigo wanted to bring us here because he had a fantastic meal three weeks ago, well I am not sure what happened but the menu had completely changed. Here is why I am giving two stars. 1. Every beer my dad asked for they did not have 2. Rodrigo asked for a salad and meat and they could not accommodate him, instead they gave him a kids grilled chicken meal that was cold and old. That chicken was sorry you could have choked on it. Both the French fries and the chicken were old, dried, and cold. 3 the waiter seemed to know nothing, he had no answers, train your people better. 4. No menu in English, i think the US is the only one that bends over backwards for tourists. 5. I had a strip special which was actually short ribs not a strip steak, the risotto was slightly under cooked. 6. For the price I expect more than what we got, go somewhere else.

Yelp
I am not quite sure what drew me to this place on a very quiet walk around this neighbourhood on a Sunday afternoon, maybe the fact the building stood out for being particularly well-kept, or maybe the funny looking victorian woman's profile hanging above the door? Either way, I'm glad it did. The outside gives nothing away other than the fact it is a very well looked after and respected place. There seem to be 4 defined areas: the bar area (where you can also have food), the restaurant part, and inside courtyard between the two and an open air courtyard out back. I had just had surgery so I think I noticed the high noise level more than the average person would but the atmosphere is great. The tapas was fantastic, as you can see from my photos and they have a decent collection of artisanal beers, so I tried one - had bottom floaty bits an everything, lovely. The service was great and the waiter tried his English on me, which was much appreciated as my Spanish is rubbish - it was a great experience all round.

Yelp
In a word Casa Luz is PERFECTION. Whether you are going for a work lunch, a girls night out or (and I personally recommend) a romantic evening, Casa Luz will not disappoint. This small elegant restaurant is located in the heart of Barrio Italia. Although the prices are a little high, the food, service and drinks are way worth it. The cuisine is Tapas with a Chilean infusion. The seafood pasta is divine as well as their raw tuna. To get the night stated at Casa Luz Sour is always a fun one. This traditional pisco sour has a kick of cocoa giving it a chocolaty flavor. Casa Luz also has a great wine selection, you can ask their staff and they will give you a great recommendation to enjoy with your meal. Finish off the evening with one of their mouth watering desserts, I personally recommend their creme brulee made right in their kitchen.

Yelp
Had lunch here with a friend. Great decor and service. Food was not as great as I was expecting - mostly just that the menu was hard to order from, the plates came out not as was expected. (For example, my kale salad was a hot plate with a couple pieces of kale chips and a soft boiled egg with some other hot items, i was expecting a fresh green type of salad!) Portions were a bit on the small side for the pricing, but taste and presentation were exceptional, so hard to find fault. Very tasty sangria!

Yelp
This is a nice little spot on a quiet street in Santiago. Although we sat inside, they also have an outdoor patio in the back which looked quite nice for a summer evening. We had the thai shrimp salad, the calamari, the duck, and the grilled trout. The thai shrimp salad was okay - it's actually not what I thought I ordered but because my Spanish isn't all that great, there was a miscommunication. I pointed to the right salad on the menu, but when she repeated the wrong one back to me I said "si". So, a mutual mistake that a higher class of restaurant would have fixed, but our server was definitely not inclined.... Anyway, back to the food. The calamari, which I usually feel lukewarm about, was really great here! Very tender and prepared in an almost Chinese tasting sauce with asparagus. The trout was stuffed with a tomato, olive, and goat cheese sauce, and was cooked just right. My husband said the duck was really good too - it came with a blue cheese risotto which I tried and thought was delicious. My pisco sour wasn't very good but I think that's because I prefer the Peruvian style over the Chilean one - they actually have both options on the menu, I just didn't know exactly what the difference was at the time. I recommend the sangria instead!

Yelp
This place is awesome in the center of a city known for lackluster restaurants, bland meals, and terrible service. This place gets all three right, not to mention great ambiance. Big time win.

Yelp
Excellent food, excellent wine, excellent service, & great ambiance. The salmon dish was incredible. This is the best restaurant. You must dine here while in Santiago.

Yelp
Today we were lucky and found a table. Generally is not easy to get a tablet if you don't have reservations, but that's mainly true for Saturday. I tried the lamb chops and corn cream and I can say it was more than delicious.
