"Best Pizza in Lisbon If you’re looking for a pizzeria, this is the place; you will find the best pizzas in town—in a perfect location. Pizzeria Casanova was opened by Maria Paola Porru, an Italian woman living in Portugal for 30 years. With long tables, the chances of meeting a stranger or making a new friend are quite good. There is a nice terrace outside (heated in winter and freshened in summer) just in front of the river, though the view can be blocked when a cruise ship is in town. Inside, you can see the thin-crust pizzas coming out of the oven, and lamps above your head allow you to "call" the waiter via a switch. By the way, if you have a desire for pizza at midnight, catch the metro to Santa Apolónia—where the kitchen is still open but you will probably find a line, even at that time."

We went for lunch, a good selection of Pizza options and other Italian dishes.

Food was ok at best. We had the Casanova. So much Arugula, we filled a plate with the excess. Some tomatoes were obviously baked on others may have been tossed after the baking, because this had to be the wettest pizza I’ve ever had (the center was drenched) no way to fold the pizza. Service was great, fast and attentive. Overall good pizza, just not a 4.5 with 3k+ reviews.

Got it out first night here from the States, and we absolutely loved it. The thin, pita-style crust is absolutely delicious. Tiramisu was 10/10. Caprese was 10/10.

One of the best Italian restaurants in Lisbon, with a cool/relax attitude, unbeatable prices, great service and amazing location. The food, especially the pizzas, is great, as is the outside seating when the weather is good. Highly recommended!

The pizzas were lovely and were very welcomed after a long trip from the UK. We walked about the area looking for somewhere nice to have lunch and were glad that we settled on this place. I can imagine it’s really nice in summer when you can sit outside and look across the water. Would definitely recommend this place for lunch and or dinner!

A must try! Their pizzas are freshly made and some of the best I've ever tested. Not sure whether you'll need to book it on a busy day but managed to get a seat below the canopy with a sea view at the side. Their Nutella pizza was also great as a dessert. However their menu is only available in Portuguese so be prepared :)

Very good experience. The pizza and spaghetti were delicious. The service was excellent. We originally chose to sit outside but it rained. The waitress helped us to move inside immediately and gave us another bottle of water. The sea view was fantastic too.

OK, so I find myself in quite a conflicting position here. First off, the place is nice. Don't get me wrong - the vibe is nice and the prices are reasonable. The guy was even nice enough to eventually hook me up with a new mask after I foolishly lost mine. But... There's a list of gripes I feel really need to be addressed: 1) the service is confusing. What language are we communicating in? And who's serving my table again? 2) the house wine from the bottle is far superior to the house wine from the flask. No distinction is made, which borders on false marketing. 3) most importantly, however, the cutlery simply wasn't clean. So, what am I left with here? A not so good restaurant with decent food? A mediocre restaurant with mediocre food? Relatively good food with a questionable restaurant? Questionable questions in a restaurant? All of these are questions, questionably.

Yelp
Great pizza and wonderful river views from the outdoor space, as long as a cruise ship is not in dock. My wife and I are there twice during our 4-day stay in Lisboa.

Yelp
Good, reasonably priced Italian food with a large terrace overlooking the river, we enjoyed our meal very much. The dining room was large with seating for 60-70 people (more on the deck) at the long tables and there is a huge glass wall overlooking the river. The main and pizza kitchens are also glass enclosed so you can see your food being prepared if you so wish. The service was impeccable in this casual setting with typical Portuguese family-style long tables. We decided to stay inside as it was just a tad chilly out on the deck. Outside of Italy, it is difficult, if not impossible, to find properly made spaghetti carbonara, but Casanova got it right! We started our meal with the Focaccia (€4), baked pizza dough with olive oil and rosemary, and a liter of both the House Red Wine (€5.50) and House Sparkling Water (€1). I ordered the Carbonara (€9.50), penne in this case instead of spaghetti, coming in a rich, tasty sauce with plenty of bacon and egg yolk. The portion was not huge, but there was plenty to fill me up. My wife got the Pizza Boscaiola (€12), a white pizza with smoked cheese and fresh mushrooms. More crispy than the soft-crusted Neapolitan we are used to, it was the right size and thickness as well as being quite tasty. My wife's only complaint was that she thought there could be both more cheese and mushrooms. We paid €32 for our meal, a relative bargain compared to other European countries with the exception of Italy of course, making this a nice break from the limited menu options at many traditional Portuguese restaurants and a decent TravelValue. Yelp
Great view if you sit outside, they have those cooling mists that spray you- a perfect addition to cool you down esp during the summer. €41 for two people got us: Caprese salad- simple mozzarella, tomatoes, basil, balsamic vinegar, dash of salt. Always one of my go to dishes when available. Can't go wrong- unless the cheese or tomatoes are old which in this case wasn't. Both main ingredients could have been colder though. Arancini- not enough cheese, the rice was a little on the dry side. I would have not ordered it. Fig and prosciutto pizza- my favorite pizza in a long time. Thin crust style which is perfect for the amount of toppings they provide. For drinks we got their mango prosseco- a little too sweet for me but refreshing. My only request is a spoon to get to the bottom of the carafe to get all the goodness.

Yelp
The location and food was good, we sat right on the edge so we got a nice view of the water. Service was slow, after we received our food, we never saw our waiter again and had to ask someone else to get our bill.

Yelp
My friend Mark who I was traveling with over Easter Break to Portugal, made a list of restaurants based on Eater.com's places to eat in Lisbon, and this was nos.38 (actually last ranked place to make it on their list) and we were in the mood for pizza so hopped on a metro near our AirBnB which stopped just a few meters away from the restaurant entrance. Our group of 4 got lucky as it was only a short wait of about 10 minutes for us to get a table without a reservation at 6:30ish. However about 45 mins later, there was a definitive line, which was moving slowly but surely. The restaurant sits family style so we had a table for 8 and next to us initially was a girlfriend bunch which was then replaced by a family group of 4. The restaurant is split between indoor and outdoor seating and since it was a warm, balmy night, we decided to sit outside and were luck to get a table by the river walkway. We got the following menu items: 1. Burrata di Andri as a Starter (€8) - LOVED this once I put some olive oil. Although the plate could have done with more than just those 3 cherry tomatoes 2. Prosciutto & Funghi Pizza as a Main (€11) - we got two of these Pizza's and it was decent. The crust held up well however I personally wanted maybe a medley of mushrooms and a bit more creamy sauce, to tone down the saltiness of the prosciutto. 3. Rustica Pizza as a Main (€12) - the Oregano seasoning on this was too aggressive for me. Otherwise taste was decent, but I'd get Olives put on too, for next time. For desserts we split: 1. Panna Cotta - UTTERLY DELICIOUS! It was perfectly jiggly with an excellent red berry fruit compote. I'd absolutely get this dish again! 2. Tiramisu - Meh. I've had better versions. The cake was a bit too soggy and the alcoholic taste just was weak. For drinks we got 1. Water (€1) 2. Sumo Laranje aka freshly squeezed OJ (€ 2.50) - not massively pulpy but overall god taste 3. Half-liter house wine (€5.50) - pretty decent price and variety. Went well with the pizza Our bill was €60.50 and we'd leftovers too, so 3 pizzas to split between 4 people along with a starter was generous servings, especially price wise it came to around €15 p.p. with drinks and desserts! Great evening out and overall I'd recommend and come back again. Yelp 192/ 2019

Yelp
Pizza with a nice view. People seemed to just wait outside on the sidewalk until they were given a table.

Yelp
I do recall Casanova Italian pizzeria In the town of Santa Apolonia , on the river Tagus . The pizza meal was a davalo,a spicy style pie I believe which reminded me of a home style with a thin crust ,a balanced sauce and a spicy local type of protein. With a salad and a bottle of wine it was a very surprising meal ,so good we had a pizza each that's how good it was. We were very fortunate to have this pizzeria so close to our apartment and didn't know is was there . A truly good local spot in Lisbon

Yelp
Tip: Located literally across the street from Santa Apolonia train station, so do yourself a favour and GO! I've died and gone to Italy! I've never been to Italy, although this is what I think authentic, thin crust Italian pizza would be like. Restaurant itself is small and from reading the reviews, a line-up is a normal occurrence, so be prepared to wait! Dining room tends to get hot because of the proximity of the pizza oven, so if there's a space, you can choose to dine outside...BUT I cannot vouch for what the service is like out there. Service wasn't the fastest, but it was friendly, especially if you have a smile on your face. :) Pizza was to.die.for. It came out rather quickly and were in the area of 10EU+. You could also have 1/2 pizza dressed with different toppings for 13EU. I technically could've shared, but was hungry and it was so good! I wished I could've eaten here again...until next time, Lisbon.

Yelp
This place was pretty packed when we arrived, but we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. This restaurant is located right next to the cruise ship port. There wasn't too much ambiance--it was mostly just long tables with light bulbs suspended from the ceiling that you turn on when you need assistance from a server. Just like many other restaurants in Portugal, you are seated right next to other people you do not know, so if you're looking for somewhere to have a quiet conversation, this probably isn't the right place for that. I ordered the Trenette Casanova (shrimp pasta) and thought it was good, but not amazing/outstanding.

Yelp
My family and I landed in Casanova shortly after landing in Lisbon! Our first night here saw my picky-eater of a younger brother craving pizza! We walked in around 7:15pm (about a half our or so before Casanova gets VERY busy). Note: Dining Area is cramped and the tables are communal so you will (in most cases) be shoulder to shoulder with the party next to you. We were served immediately once we flicked on the red light hanging over our table and ordered 3 pizzas to share between the 4 of us. The Casanova (a burata cheese pizza with no sauce covered in tomatoes and arugula), The Rustica (a sauce, mozzarella, mushroom, and ham-type meat), and the Diavola (a non-spicy pepperoni style pizza). The pizza comes unsliced but was easy enough to cut through with the knives at the table. The pizzas were all good but nothing about the three of them popped up at us as amazing. We finished off dinner with a tiramisu that was obviously very fresh and was a great after dinner treat. If we were staying in Lisbon for more than 2 weeks we would definitely find ourselves back at Casanova.

Yelp
Pizza here was so good and the service was fast. Also got the burrata Pugliese and baked mozzarella for apps. For pizza had the Diavola (spicy salame). Pro tip: turn the red light on when you're ready to order. That's what gets the waiters' attention. Pro pro tip: pizzas are not sliced. I guess the Portuguese eat their pizza with a fork and a knife in small bites, similar to how one would cut a steak. I'm sure my friend and I looked like savages eating it in crudely cut slices with our hands, but oh well we're already loud obnoxious Americans so why not lean into it! Place does get busy. By the time we left on a Thursday evening there was a substantial line. Get in early or make a reservation if they take them... Enjoy!

Yelp
We had lunch at Pizzeria Casanova and were impressed. It is located near the cruise ship port on the water, which should help you find the location. The pictures of the outdoor seating views are great, however when we ate there, there was a large cruise ship docked which blocked our view of the water. Nonetheless, their pizzas are delicious (thin and tasty) and they have a good wine selection. The service was on the slower size, but the staff were pleasant and helpful.

Yelp
This place was quite busy when I got there, and was a nice, very modern, change of pace from the rest of the restaurants in Lisbon that I'd visited. You walk in the through the kitchen, past the big pizza oven, on your way to the seating area, which gives you a nice view into what the chefs are up to. It has a lovely (and heated) seating area outside which would probably have a great view during the day. Even for dinner (at 11pm) it was nice being on the water, despite not being able to see anything - although, with the number of cruise ships that dock at Lisbon, you might get more scenery depending on the night. They have a massive selection of pizza options, and generally you get two different types per order (1/2 pizza each). It was also nice to have a delicious, intentionally crafted crust, rather than the afterthoughts you tend to get in North America. There are an endless selection of quaint, amazing restaurants in Lisbon. But if you need a break from that kind of rustic culinary experience, this is a good spot.

Yelp
These guys saved us from wandering around, looking for a beach, and only finding hunger. Turns out they have amazing Italian style pizza! Thin crust.

Yelp
One of the best meals I've had thus far! I had the Pesto pizza with a beer and was truly able to taste the freshness of the ingredients! The staff were all wonderful and going in the mid-afternoon meant you didn't have to wait long at all! Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a great and generally inexpensive meal! Definitely a great find!
google avatar

Yelp
Best (italian style) pizza in Lisbon, hands down. They don't take reservations so you'll probably wait. But trust me: so worth it.

Yelp
Great pizza and drinks. Very affordable and good for groups. My siblings and i we had a great time and the service is magnificent

Yelp
Food amazing, great pizza. If the service was better I would have given them 5 stars but the service was so poor. We have pizza, pasta and desert all delish!

Yelp
Great pizza -- with thin crispy crust. It's not clearly marked and can be difficult to find. We got there a few minutes after they opened for lunch and within 15 mins there was a line of people waiting for a table .. It's that popular! It seems very popular with locals and is not close to the touristy part of town (which is nice) .. It's next to the cruise boat terminal if that helps. Highly recommend it.
google avatar

Yelp
Great pizza, but it is thin and not Neapolitan style. The standard cheese is not great quality because it tastes like non-fresh American mozzarella, but the buffala is really good and worth the additional charge. The prosecco with raspberry puree was very sweet but sooo good.

Yelp
Really over rated. No effort on the presentation, very small and simple pasta plates and the tiramisu was completely frozen...

Yelp
I had the pizza margherita, which consisted of tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and basil leaves. The pizza has a very thin crust and was cooked in a wood-fired oven. It tasted like a genuine Roman style pizza...it was very good. Since it is cooked in a wood fired oven, it was prepared very quickly - it was served in less than five minutes. The tomato sauce was very tasty, and they put plenty of cheese on the pizzas. They also have an open kitchen, so you can see the pizzas being prepared. The price was a little steep (9.00€), but it is very good pizza. The price was also consistent with other restaurants in this area of Lisbon. Speaking of which, the restaurant location is also very good. The dining room faces the bay, and it conveniently located very close to the Santa Apolónia metro station on the Blue (Azul) line. You can dine indoors or outside overlooking the bay. I highly recommend Pizzeria Casanova, especially if you like pizzas cooked the way they make them in Roma, Italy.

Yelp
Pizza was amazing! As good as we had in Italy! We had a little trouble finding it, just look for the whole awning across the street from the train station. It's on the same side as the water. Definitely worth it though!!

Yelp
As a New Yorker, I hate to say I'm not so easy to please. This place had great service and good food in a cool and casual atmosphere. Our waiter was extremely honest and we had a great experience overall.
google avatar

Gavriel K.

Yelp
Really good pizza. The mozzarella, tomato, and spicy salami is a really nice pick. You do have to cut it yourself, but they give you decent knives. Salad is also pretty good and refreshing. Raspberry pans cotta is a nice dessert. Portions are perfect. Service is great. Views are great. A bit expensive for pizza. Accepts American Express.
google avatar

Colin T.

Yelp
This pizzeria is great! The food was delicious but a bit pricey. The location wasn't the best. The only downsides of this are the fact that it's not the cleanest place and the toilets aren't great. But all in all this is a wonderful place to go if you want to have some delicious pizza or pasta.
google avatar

Pedro G.

Yelp
I love the pizzas there, they're probably the best I've had in Europe. The owner is italian, and she pays homage to her origins by respecting the ingredients she uses in their cooking, Apart form the food, the location is superb: all I can say is that this is THE place to be on a hot summer day. There's a cantina-style studio room inside and a terrace outside, two meters away form the Tejo river. So why not 5 stars? Staff and level of service. I like casual, but professional has to go with it. Some friends have given up on the place solely because of surreal experiences they had with waiters/waitresses.

Yelp
This place was amazing!!! We went on a rainy Sunday.. Thankfully we did not have to wait in line for a long time. The service was excellent. The bruschetta was delicious.. the tomatoes oh so fresh. The pizza crust is perfectly chewy- the ingredients equally perfect! I highly recommend this place. I felt like I was eating Pizza in Italy. Go check it out. How creative to have lights hanging above your head where you can switch on and ask for the server to come. Loved it! Never seen anything like that in the US. Original!

Derek D.

Yelp
Fantastic meal, high energy (but loud) atmosphere. Family-style seating, so definitely elbow-to-elbow. There is clearly often a queue, and the staff is constantly hustling. Service was prompt and friendly, and the food was absolutely phenomenal. Pizza is clearly the main attraction, but also enjoyed a number of appetizers like the prosciutto, caprese salad and baked buffalo mozzarella. All were delicious, super hot, and fired in their beautiful clay oven.

Yelp
This is probably my favourite pizzeria in Lisbon. They have a wonderful restaurant looking out onto the harbour with really excellent pizzas and a variety of other tasty things (I recommend the arancini)! They're also very friendly and have wifi, so if you fancy coming in for a long lunch or dinner and working there for a few hours, they're more than happy to oblige. Four stars because they're a little bit pricy for Lisbon, but I think the price is worth it for the quality of food and excellent service!
