Exceptional Francesinha! The best we have had had, the steak was tender and not over cooked and the sauce was wonderful, just a little spicy but kept the beer base flavor! We always split one between the two of us and it’s still plenty!

Update: I tried the vegan IFrancesinha its also quite lovely! Service is exemplary as well. Definitely worth popping in if you're in Porto. The sauce has a slight bit of spiciness but not too much. I like mine either way. ___________________ I love the IFrancesinha. I'd say it's the best I've tried so far. I have many other places to try, but of the 5 well known spots I've gone to, this is the best for me. the flavor, meat and sauce are top notch. I keep coming back. 🥰

It’s good because locals come here. It’s not a fancy tourist trap. Good place for Vegans as well. They serve both traditional as well vegan versions and also economical prices. I wanted try vegetarian or vegan versions of traditional Portuguese cuisine and this places was good. Remember to check their timings because they do close kitchen in afternoon and reopen at 19:00

FYI they only take cash. Very authentic Portuguese food, and they had a whole menu of veganised versions which were really tasty. Really nice, friendly service and big portions! I’d never had Pica Pau before but their plant based version was super tasty and so was the veggie salad. If you’re looking to try some classic diner style Portuguese dishes (esp vegan!) check it out. If I could change one thing I would say the lighting was a bit intense haha but otherwise really enjoyed the visit.

Casanova is a hidden gem in Porto that beautifully blends traditional Portuguese flavors with modern, inclusive dining. Tucked away on Rua da Constituição, the restaurant is best known for its incredible vegan take on the famous Francesinha—and it genuinely lives up to the hype. Even non-vegans will be impressed by how flavorful and satisfying it is. The ambiance is relaxed and cozy, with a small back terrace that's perfect for a quieter, more intimate meal. Service is friendly, attentive, and welcoming—staff are happy to explain the menu or offer recommendations, especially if you’re new to Portuguese cuisine. Do note: they only accept cash, and reservations are recommended, especially on weekends, as it’s a popular spot with both locals and visitors.

One is the best francesinhas in Porto. One of the nicest parts was the half francesinhas they offer. Sometimes a full serving is too much, especially for lunch, so this came in handy and they don't just cut one in half, it's just a bit smaller. Cash only, BTW.

First off: bring cash! This restaurant does not take credit cards. Second: This may be the best Francesinha sauce I've had so far in Porto. Thick, rich, with just the right amount of spice. My tosta mista especial was absolutely delicious. The fries were perfectly salted. The entire meal was wonderful. Service was excellent; very friendly, and they switched to English when I reached that point in my Portuguese learning adventure where I didn't understand something.
