The drive from Rio to Buzios took around 4 hours including a short coffee stop. On arrival at the hotel check-in was dealt with efficiently and we were then given a guided tour of the hotel and a welcome drink. We were allocated Room 17, which had a queen-sized bed, TV, safe, an open plan bathroom with ceiling shower and wall head, good quality toiletries, hairdryer, bathrobe and slippers. There was a small lounge area with a sofa and table and a balcony with a table and chairs, and what we assumed was a very small plunge pool, but the water was never clean and so we avoided it. In the room there was a small step down from the main area to the lounge which at first concerned us if at night you wanted the bathroom but we discovered there was a sensor that turned on floor lighting as soon as movement was detected. The room was made up everyday and a small box with chocolates was delivered by the maid each evening. Breakfast was served either in the restaurant or on the terrace and consisted of a buffet of fruit, juices, yoghurts, freshly baked bread, (including the small cheese balls), there was also options from a menu for omelettes etc. There was a terraced area with views to the town and across the bay which had 4 double sun beds and 8 single beds, during our stay we never had a problem getting a sun bed. From the terrace there is a flight of steps which brings you out onto a roadway which leads into the town. All the staff we met were all extremely friendly and helpful with many speaking excellent English. Overall we spent 4 nights here, and it was certainly a relaxing period after a hectic tour in Brazil.
