Casas Brancas, Buzios, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - Explore & Book

"A 2 and a half hour drive northeast from Rio gets you to Búzios - a peninsula offering some fine coves and a choice of 26 different beaches. Frequented by rich Carioca weekenders and other better-off South Americans seeking an alternative to Rio, Búzios was once a small fishing village put on the map in the 60s by Brigitte Bardot. Today it's more lively, but it still retains some original charm with its cobbled main street and bobbing fishing boats. We found Casas Brancas, a 5-minute walk from the centre of town, to be the most stylish, welcoming and relaxing place to stay. Set on a hillside overlooking the bay, it’s one of the oldest hotels in Búzios. Owner Amalia de La Maria has given her residence a chic Mediterranean feel. With its billowy white drapes, jumbled mix of 34 individually decorated rooms (many with terraces and hammocks), endless nooks and crannies, and a spa, Casas Brancas is a beautiful place to languish. The alfresco 74 Restaurant is pure romance for those wanting candlelit dinners set before the twinkling lights of the bay and night sky. Highs A 5-minute walk from the main street with its excellent seafood restaurants, lively bars and chic boutiquesSome of the best views of Búzios BayIt has a laid-back and inviting ambianceImaginative East-meets-West décor Búzios boasts every type of beach you should want and is one of the best beach destinations close to Rio Lows Not located on a beach, but almost none of the hotels in Búzios are; most are within a 5-10 minute drive - we recommend hiring a beach buggyBathrooms were simple and some of the fittings somewhat outdated, but the team assure us they have been updated since our visitWatch out for hungry mosquitosBúzios is a developed resort and party town - if you're seeking tranquility and empty beaches avoid high season, or head south of Rio to Parati" - Nikki Tinto

Casas Brancas Boutique - Hotel & Spa (Buzios, Rio de Janeiro State) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"In the southern summer, when the whole world seems to gather in Rio, those of Rio's inhabitants who have the means flee to Búzios, two hours to the north. This humble fishing village (is there any other kind?) has become an upscale resort destination, largely thanks to a '60s visit by Brigitte Bardot, now the town's unofficial patron saint of tourism. Thankfully the towering megahotels of Rio have yet to make an appearance on the shores of Búzios; the best lodgings in town are the pousadas, more guesthouse than hotel, and among these one of the finest is Casas Brancas. The laid-back Mediterranean look of Casas Brancas belies the hipness of the place — proof that you don't need big-name designers or challenging hypermodern furnishings to attract the beautiful people. Instead the 32 rooms are cozy, homey, tucked away around courtyards and along terraces, all overlooking the view of the scenic bay of Búzios. A classic pousada comes with its own restaurant, and this one is no exception, serving a fusion of Brazilian and Mediterranean cuisines. And beyond obligatory is the spa, a bit of an indulgence for a hotel of Casas Brancas' size — though a drink on the terrace overlooking the bay is the preferred form of relaxation here." - Tablet Hotels

I recommend. The staff was awesome and the attention to details provided a feeling of anticipation and kindness rare in such hotels. The view by the pool and the quality of food were top notch. Big up to the staff for making it a formidable stay. They were very reactive and attentive to our needs. A quack in the room? Straightforward fixed, I had a great stay overall and would recommend the place with all the satisfaction possible.

This is a stunning place to stay. I would definitely return if I ever visit Rio again. The drive is absolutely worth it as it is a piece of paradise! Every member of staff are friendly, helpful and respectful. Every room is beautifully decorated with original art work that the family (who have owned the house since 1974) have purchased over time. You really do feel you are part of a family as there are only 35 rooms. Breakfast is amazing and a really leisurely affair - while looking at the stunning view across the bay. The sun loungers are well maintained and a perfect place to relax. There are 2 restaurants- 74 and the Italian Osteria downstairs - both are of the highest standard and great value for money considering the quality of the food. The spa is an oasis of calm with good quality treatments which can easily be booked. |Staff work throughout the day to ensure the standard of service is maintained. We loved everything about this hotel.

Fabulous hotel with spectacular views, meticulous service, elevated cuisine, and a delicious breakfast overlooking crystal waters. The concierge helped me arrange tours during my stay and tailor an itinerary perfect for a solo traveler, and the staff (shoutouts to Marcelo, Aparecida, and Cristiane) were all so kind and attentive. The spa was beautiful and spacious, and the deep tissue massage was top-notch. The hotel has two restaurants, both of which were culinary highlights during my visit. My room had breathtaking views of the bay with French doors that opened to enjoy the sea breeze. I will definitely be back.

The drive from Rio to Buzios took around 4 hours including a short coffee stop. On arrival at the hotel check-in was dealt with efficiently and we were then given a guided tour of the hotel and a welcome drink. We were allocated Room 17, which had a queen-sized bed, TV, safe, an open plan bathroom with ceiling shower and wall head, good quality toiletries, hairdryer, bathrobe and slippers. There was a small lounge area with a sofa and table and a balcony with a table and chairs, and what we assumed was a very small plunge pool, but the water was never clean and so we avoided it. In the room there was a small step down from the main area to the lounge which at first concerned us if at night you wanted the bathroom but we discovered there was a sensor that turned on floor lighting as soon as movement was detected. The room was made up everyday and a small box with chocolates was delivered by the maid each evening. Breakfast was served either in the restaurant or on the terrace and consisted of a buffet of fruit, juices, yoghurts, freshly baked bread, (including the small cheese balls), there was also options from a menu for omelettes etc. There was a terraced area with views to the town and across the bay which had 4 double sun beds and 8 single beds, during our stay we never had a problem getting a sun bed. From the terrace there is a flight of steps which brings you out onto a roadway which leads into the town. All the staff we met were all extremely friendly and helpful with many speaking excellent English. Overall we spent 4 nights here, and it was certainly a relaxing period after a hectic tour in Brazil.

Casas Brancas is a lovely hotel in the centre of Buzios with stunning views over the town and the bay, with inside stairs down to the sea front. Our immaculately clean room was beautifully decorated, had two large windows overlooking the sea, and a large bathroom with a fantastic walk-in rain shower.|We had very tasty breakfasts in the upper restaurant in which diners are served either inside, or outside on the terrace - ether way the views were amazing. Our breakfasts were served with a smile by Aparecida and included a buffet of fresh fruits, juices, yoghurts, freshly baked breads and cakes, etc., and a menu of items from the kitchen.|All the staff were excellent, including the English speaking receptionists, and everyone was very helpful and always greeted us with a smiling 'bom dia'.|Overall, if was a very pleasant, relaxing stay in an excellently located position in the delightful Brazilian resort of Buzios. I would fully recommend it.|People with limited mobility should be aware that there are many stairs in the hotel, and should make further enquiries if they think this may be an issue for them.

Our visit at Casas Brancas was absolutely divine! We spent 5 nights here and could’ve easily stayed for more. The care and attentiveness of the staff made our stay very enjoyable. Aparecida’s smiling face every morning for breakfast, Gabriel’s lovely welcome when we first arrived too made this trip even more special for us. Thank you and we will be back!
