"The Stanley Hotel hosts not one but three restaurants, with upscale game meat dishes at Cascades Restaurant & Lounge."

Don’t go for a dinner or any food. Just for a drinks and atmosphere. The charcuterie board was not fresh ingredients. The all meat that we’ve ordered was dry,old and no taste. Overpriced. Just a hype from the movie. The drinks were good actually. Big and expensive disappointment

Indulging in the grandeur of the Stanley Hotel for Thanksgiving was a truly memorable experience. The Cascades Restaurant, with its historic ambiance and stunning mountain views, provided the perfect setting for a festive feast. I opted for the traditional turkey dinner, a comforting choice that exceeded expectations. The turkey was succulent and moist, complemented by a medley of classic side dishes – arugula salad w goat cheese and walnuts, creamy mashed potatoes, and crisp green beans. Each bite was a nostalgic journey, evoking the warmth and joy of the holiday season. While the food was undeniably delicious, it was the overall atmosphere that made the dinner truly special. The attentive staff, the elegant decor, and the soft glow of the fireplace created a sense of timeless elegance. It was the perfect way to celebrate Thanksgiving, surrounded by history and culinary delights.

Service was inconsistent and received drinks at different times (15 minutes apart) that were originally ordered at the same time. Broccolini was served cold. Meatball dish was missing fresh parmesan as described in menu. Would not recommend. Expect better service and quality of food for the $$$ price.

The food is pretty good for a hotel. It is t exceptional but it is good. The server was nice but not overly ingratiating. It was worth the visit. The Stanley is a lot of fun to visit with lots of novel decor.

Google
We had an amazing time here. Our server, Zac, provided excellent recommendations and service. It was some of the best service we've had in years. The atmosphere is cozy and the food was top notch. Every dish was stunning, from the lamb bites with chimichurri, the pork chop, blackened shrimp and scallop, and the duck breast, to the various cocktails. The cheesecake was dominated by the cherries, making it the weakest dish we tried. It needed to be more pronounced in flavor (perhaps lemon). This was a fantastic meal in such a historic place. A must visit experience.

Google
Wonderful old restaurant in the historic hotel. The service was great, cocktails and food were fantastic. We had the Spinach Artichoke dip, Whisky Peach Glazed Duck, Crispy Brussel Sprouts, and Bourbon Barrel Pork Chop. Warning, drinking at elevation can hit you harder than you might expect. ;)

If you are a Stephen King fan, it’s pretty cool to have dinner at the hotel that inspired The Shining! It’s a pretty cozy restaurant and the food is good. I had the Rocky Mountain meat flight and really liked it! It is quite expensive for what it is (and you have to pay $10 if you wanna park at the hotel) and they are understaffed.

Google
First timer to Cascades and it was a great experience! The food and cocktails were delicious. We had 3 appetizers and they were exceptional. Dinner was a great portion and very satisfying. I had the meatloaf and it was so delicious! I appreciate the time and attention taken to make the craft cocktails. Our server gave his best and was very knowledgeable and professional. I definitely felt treated well. Thanks for a great dinner experience! I’ll be back. (Sam visiting from Baltimore Maryland)

Yelp
Simply fantastic. We were a group of 6. They sat us in a private room which made the experience even better. Food was amazing. The chili was the best chili 5 of the 6 have ever had (we passed the bowl so all could try) Service attentive without being overbearing. Waiter might be across the way from us but would glance over to see if we needed anything etc. We were able to ask for the chili recipe and can't wait to make it at home (or try). If you are in Estes Park this is a must.

Yelp
$10 to park!?! Seriously? I realize the Stanley is a novelty, but that's outrageous...and the parking lot was not paved and rough...full of potholes. The serving staff was slow and nit very accommodating. The food took 45 minutes to reach the table after we ordered...with no apology for the long wait. Oh, did I mention this was lunch and not dinner. Please! On the upside, the food was excellently prepared. French dip and tomato bisque. Then, our slow waiter tried to slip an extra tip on us! I'll never go back...and you should look somewhere else.

Kasey S.

Yelp
Atrocious at best, spent $1167.31 on 08/24/24 for a birthday party with friends and this is what I got with that price. Too bad ZERO STARS isn't an option. 1.The waitress didn't bring water for half the table. 2. One of the water grosses was damaged and nearly cut one of our lips. 3. When drinks did come out, they were incorrect and doubled for no reason. Despicable. 4. An order of appetizers was forgotten and not brought out till asked. 5. When the Lamb app came out, hair on the plate and in the food. 6. This is a steakhouse, and three ppl received no steak knife and were told "we have to wash them". 7. When the knives came out, the waitress Yasmin waived the knife at my friends head, he had to duck. 8. When the meals came out, no sides were brought out and when they were they were the wrong sides and sizes. What else can I say, Cascades is suooosed to be the premiere steak house in town and for over a thousand dollars we got a disaster. Skip this place and go elsewhere. Waste of money and not a single employee cared to ask how the meal was.

Yelp
Chef and Nina were amazing, wine was perfect, great night for valentines! Big shout out to Nina for being an awesome part of an awesome night!

Mike S.

Yelp
Our dinner experiences were great! Had a quiet table near the back as we reserved for 5pm before the regular dinner time. Setting aside the general higher pricing of everything, the mixed drinks were relatively generous and nicely prepared. The shrimp appetizer was excellent and its preparation a very pleasant surprise; not just shrimp around a bowl of lettuce. Duck meal was excellent with great glazing sauce. The filet was done to a perfect requested medium rare. All in all a wonderful holiday experience at the hotel.

Sara F.

Yelp
'Whiskey bar' at the restaurant was really just the restaurants bar top, it's not really divided like the wine bar. We went during snow and parking wasn't close. The 'Stanley Old Fashioned' was supposed to be Buffalo Trace but they were out so they subbed with Maker's. It tasted like a regular OF. The building and grounds are beautiful so would maybe stop in the summer again but not rushing back.

Chris K.

Yelp
They fixed the issue after some back and forth. But eventually it got settled. The person that ordered the tomahawk steak got themselves a real cheap dinner.

Magnolia B.

Yelp
We came here twice during our stay at the Stanley - once for cocktails upon our arrival, and again for dinner after the ghost tour. We were excited to be here because of its Hollywood history - aside from Stephen King conceptualising 'The Shining' at the Stanley, the hotel was used as the Aspen hotel in 'Dumb & Dumber', and the bar scenes were filmed at Cascades. "She has DINNER!" The cocktails were great. They were pricier, as expected, so we ordered special drinks, all 'The Shining'-themed: 217 Spritzer and Redrum Punch, plus a round of 217 Ale by the local Estes Park Brewery. The bartender was friendly and efficient, and the bar looked pretty much as I remembered it from 'Dumb & Dumber'. The framed moonlanding article prompting Jim Carrey's ad-lib in the film still hangs! Our meal there pleasantly surprised us. We'd planned to go out in Estes Park after our ghost tour, but we were tired and woozy from the altitude, so we decided to just stay in and try Cascades for dinner. We were expecting mediocre food at outrageous hotel prices. Again, prices were indeed higher, but the items we chose were phenomenal. I had the pappardelle bolognese, a huge portion of extra creamy, rich meat sauce and giant fresh noodles. My boyfriend chose the elk, bison, and wild boar meatloaf, served with whipped potatoes and steamed broccoli. Both were delicious, high-quality dishes. We have no desire to stay at the Stanley again (it is truly spooky and unsettling to sleep there), but if we ever return to Estes Park, we'd definitely come back to Cascades.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Okay I agree fellow yelpers...,busy, overpriced, food is just meh. However, when it is late a you are swinging in for a cocktail and nostalgia you may, for convenience, just grin and bear it.

Isaac A.

Yelp
I had a drink at the bar that was great and my buddy got the chicken wings. He kept raving about the rings after having them, so they must have been really good. Our bartender was good and attentive, even though he seemed to be having a rough day. I had a good time and will stop in to eat next time I'm at The Stanley.

Krista P.

Yelp
I'm not sure why the reviews don't reflect, but we had a fantastic meal outside on the patio with the beautiful scenery of the hotel grounds and waterfall. The food I thought was great! I had the Rocky Mountain Meat flight that had Bison, Beef, and Elk meat. All cooked wonderfully. We also ordered the lamb chops and the whipped potatoes along with the caramelized onions as a side.

Gabriela Z.

Yelp
Service was horrible. They were very busy but it was difficult to get any help. They gave me my dirty martini in a warm wine glass. It was very loud in the restaurant. It isn't like an intimate dinner place. The shrimp seafood pasta was delicious. I loved the small scallops in there. The lamb lollipops were very good too. Cesar salad wasn't good. It was wilted and covered in dressing.

Gail G.

Yelp
This is chef prepared food and all our food was absolutely amazing. Every morsel was delirious. I haven't tasted meatloaf this good anywhere The service did take a bit longer than I expected but that's an issue across the hospitality industry. It's understaffed.

Ashley P.

Yelp
I loved my evening at the bar chatting it up with Grant, the bartender. I enjoy the hospitality and humor shown by the staff despite the whole "haunted hotel" thing. I stayed at the Aspire hotel next to the main hotel and it was quiet and filled with amenities. Thanks!!

Emily L.

Yelp
Our overall experience was great! Service was great, drinks were good, and food was good. The vibe of the restaurant was very warm and classy and stayed in theme with the Stanley Hotel. I only took a star off because I think the Spinach and Artichoke dip had wayyyy too many breadcrumbs, they weren'tjust on the top but mixed in and I personally do not like that. I also got the Rocky Mountain trio and I personally would have preferred the sauces on the side, in the menu it mentions the sauces and that is my fault for not asking if they came on top or if I can have them on the side. Really none of the sauces were my cup of tea so I was a little disappointed, BUT they cooked all three to a perfect medium and they were all very tender (especially the venison) and I was able to scrape some of the sauce off some bites and it tasted very good! My husband's bison ribeye though knocked it out the park. It came with onions on top and they were sooo good. Some of the best sautéed onions I've had and it was very tender and he said there was minimal fat (the bad kind). It was also cooked to a perfect medium rare. I was a little scared to try the potatoes based on the presentation bc it looked like ice cream and I wasn't sure how they were gonna taste but they ended up being really good. I just smashed them with my fork and they looked normal lol. My espresso martini was smooth and delicious and my redrum punch was very flavorful as well. My husband got the stanley old fashioned and he said the bartender made it exactly how it's supposed to be made. Overall very impressed just a few things I would have changed!

Gabrielle B.

Yelp
This is the bar where a scene in Dumb & Dumber was filmed! It's a beautiful bar with a great selection of cocktails and spirits and the perfect place for a nice cocktail in Estes Park. The ambiance is very warm & cozy and the drinks are excellent. I had an espresso martini which was delicious! A little pricey but I think it's worth it for the nice experience and a chance for a fun activity at the Stanley.

Ashley M.

Yelp
Very fun whiskey bar. Tasty drinks, interesting history, and nice servers. Great place to stop for a drink. My one wish is that they didn't have sports playing in the bar...kinda ruins the historical nature.

Richard S.

Yelp
Table for 12, 8 plates served cold. A couple, that's how it goes with a large party, almost all cold and none hot, that is a never return scenario for a meal when the price finished at $110 per person. Atmosphere was fantastic, whiskey bar looked top notch and was very attractive and warrants a second return trip for its own sake, the very pleasing ambiance of the Stanley Hotel. Arugula blueberry salad was an absolute showstopper and was the only piece that saved this from a 1 star review. Compared to a local competitor, The Rock Inn Tavern, which I didn't think was in the same weight class, the Rock Inn beat The Cascades in all food and drink service categories. I expected the dessert to save the poorly meal, no dice. Desserts were uninspired and lower quality than what I'd make at home.

Nicki M.

Yelp
The Stanley is quite stunning and such a classic style! We started off at the bar to have a drink before dinner. The place was packed and it took about 15 minutes to finally order a drink, but lucky us, we got James as our bartender, we put a little faith in him as he offered to make a couple drinks that he makes best. He makes a tasty Sazerac Sazerac and one of the best old fashioned's! Once our dinner reservation came available (30 minutes late- boo...because we were starving), we quickly order the pork belly appetizer. This was cooked to perfection and delicious! For our mains we had Bison ribeye and the filet flight, both were pretty good. After dinner, our fantastic server, Sara, brought out a birthday dessert for me! I would definitely come back!

Lisa S.

Yelp
We had reservations and were seated after a short wait. We ended up sitting on the patio on a chilly night but tables had a fireplace in the center and it kept us nice and warm. Perfect, romantic setting. I chose the red trout which came with rice and veggie. If was very good. Husband had the beef filet and it was cooked correctly and very good. It came a la carte so he also ordered mashed potatoes. Those were not as creamy as I was hoping (I stole a few bites). Service was good. The restaurant had a supper-club-air to it which was cozy. The patio area, where we sat, was more more modern. The grounds are beautiful so walk around and check out the views before you dine.

Yelp
Great whiskey bar with delicious Colorado whiskey and bourbon Warm ambiance, beautiful hotel lounge and bar. Very welcoming. Highly recommend!

Yelp
What can be said about Cascades Restaurant, nestled in the iconic Stanley Hotel? I'll be honest, we approached this hotel restaurant with some preconceived notions. Being at the Stanley, how hard does this restaurant really have to try? I won't say what I expected--if I had, I would have been embarrassed instead of floored. All said, I wasn't planning to leave the hotel on my one night there. Whatever Cascades had, I was going to make do. Well, we were pleasantly surprised, despite the mixed reviews. The restaurant and its dramatic bar provided a wonderful, cozy backdrop to a cold and snowy night (literally). We could tell there was a mix of established locals and hotel visitors--this was a good sign. We started off with the Pork Belly and Crawfish Dip, accompanied by a Stanley Old Fashioned. This was the first pleasant surprise of the night. The Pork Belly was perfectly prepared and a generous cut of meat. The sauce was piquant and memorable, a great way to get our appetites going. The Old Fashioned had just the right amount of fussiness. The Crawfish Dip was equally good. For entrees, we had the Lobster Bisque and Meatloaf. We were already getting full from our appetizers. The Bisque was as I would expect--rich with the right portions of cream and sherry, and just the right amount of sweetness. While it's a bisque, I do prefer a bit more chunks of lobster. Their Meatloaf--a mixture of Elk, Bison, and Wild Boar--was exactly what I was looking for as a visitor to Colorado. It had that light gamey taste I was craving, and the mushroom demi-glace was just right. Needless to say, we overdid it--because it was delicious and hit all the right notes for us. The service was fine, a slower pace for sure, but this was fine. We were hotel guests and not necessarily in a hurry. After a coffee, we had to walk it off by giving ourselves a tour of the grand hotel. Yes, we can't ignore the other reviews--but I think what they are saying is that, depending on the night, things can go either way. We hope this doesn't stop anyone from rolling the dice and having the experience we did. Please check out more on allstreetsgourmand.com.

Yelp
We've been to Cascades 3 times this year. The last two times have been great no complaints about the service and the food was delicious. Today however (12/21) we had reservations at 6:30 and sat at a high top. Both my husband and I ordered the filet (which we've had here before), I got the whipped potatoes and my husband got the asparagus. The food came out we have no silverware, our server is no where to be found. The "filets" came out cold and extremely tough. Filets shouldn't be tough. Normally they cut like butter here and I couldn't even eat most of mine. I asked for salt after looking for our server for a good 15 min. We were never asked how the food was. 20 min after we have stopped eating our server finally reappears, again doesn't ask how things were or if we'd like a dessert menu. Just, do you want a box. This was the worst experience we've had here. The waitress was clearly more focused on tables ordering alcohol. We had planned on getting at least one desert (last time we both ordered one) but because of the experience we already had, there was no way we were going to wait another 30 min to see if the dessert would be any better than our meal.

Yelp
We went for my daughter's 21st birthday. Her request because she loves all things Steven King. We were running late per usual, called the restaurant to let them know we were running late and they were so understanding. When we got there our friends were already there and seated in a backroom so we could enjoy ourselves without having to worry about being to loud for other guest. Food and drinks were Amazing! We ordered appetizers to try since we had never been to the Cascade, we also ordered the lobster bisque to try but my favorite was the Rockie mountain grill flight and the wild game meatloaf. Zack our waiter was very attentive and made sure my daughter had the best night! It was the best 21st birthday for my girl.

Noel J.

Yelp
I wish I could give this place a 10 star, from the great atmosphere to Jim Carey's famous scene there and the massive amount of different liquors they offer like no one else in the world. Grant and John the bartenders are so friendly and so knowledgeable of their liquors and beers and food. Grant suggested I get the bison burger and w a little hesitation I did. I am so glad I listened to him because it was the most juiciest, tender and flavorful burger I have ever had. It came topped with mushrooms and sautéed onions and fries. The fries are so good as well. The choice of whiskey I chose was the bird dog apple whiskey. As of right now it is my new favorite whiskey. I like to come once a week to enjoy a peaceful meal and a nice glass of whiskey and great bartenders. I highly suggest you come here and eat drink and be merry!

Charles T.

Yelp
Nice historical location. Did a ghost tour after dinner. Menu had good variety. More alcoholic drink options than almost anywhere. Pages of whiskeys. Wine choices were good. Prices crazy high. I had the salmon special. Salmon was dry. Polenta dry and tasteless. Beets were from a can. Food was disappointing. The server was pretty lackluster. He didn't ensure water was filled. He didn't prompt for more drinks. He didn't ask us about dessert. He didn't discuss any dessert options. My wife barely ate her dinner and told waiter and dinner was removed from bill. Overall not worth price. Go here for drinks. Eat dominos or subway. Sorry ! Needs new chef or manager.

Sarah J.

Yelp
Inside is nicely decorated. Service was good, but not speedy. It was busy and a wedding reception was going on close to us, so we knew it wouldn't be quick. If you're looking for a fast paced service, then this probably isn't for you. We didn't mind it though. The meatloaf is delicious! We also got the spinach dip, it was good but not the best we've had. Prices are high, but it's a tourist attraction area, so we expected it. Overall, I'd recommend the place and I'd eat there again.

Lee H.

Yelp
My family and I had Thanksgiving dinner at Cascades in November. I want to note for the record that this was one of the worst meal experiences of my life. First, when I purchased this meal (for $600), we weren't informed that we would be sat with another family for the dinner. They were perfectly nice, but I never would've agreed to make this reservation had I know it was a possibility. Second, the food was cold and essentially the quality of banquet food. Much of it was inedible. The cost of this experience -- $608 dollars for my family of five - was absurd given the quality of the meal (or lack thereof). I plan to leave reviews to that effect online.

Stacy H.

Yelp
Horrifically overpriced due to the novelty of the hotel. Hostess was spacey & had to be nudged in order to be seated (with a reservation!). Food was Applebees quality, if that. The only positive highlight was the beer I had from Estes Park brewery. I would avoid wasting your money here, I definitely regret it.

Christina C.

Yelp
Mediocre at best. Not worth the price. Ordered meat flight. Was okay. Salmon.. was okay. And Cobb salad.. was okay.

Jaime B.

Yelp
Went with a large party, all orders came out cold. Even chili. The steak I ordered wouldn't even melt the butter that topped the steak. I get that large parties can be difficult to prep but all orders. Would assume at least one order would come out hot. My steak was under cooked. First time for that. Wouldn't reccomend.

Annabella S.

Yelp
I had high hopes coming into the experience and was horribly let down by not only the service but the food. When our party was sat the service was slow and uninterested. Ever dish came out lukewarm if not cold and it took over an hour and a half to receive our dishes. I love the Stanley and am sorely dissatisfied with this experience and will not be back. I ordered the grill flight and asked for it medium rare and I received rare if not almost blue. For the price I am expecting to have little complaints.

Erin M.

Yelp
Feeling like chopped LEVer during this visit to the cascades restaurant. Our potential server (I say potential server since the server aka Lev didn't come to our table not ONCE to take our order) sat for 2 hours waiting for him to come or ANYONE to come take our order. At this point we would have been lucky to have the damn ghost here come to talk to us or Stanley himself. He took care of literally people who came in way after us. I would have just walked to the bar but I'm in a wheelchair. He actually walked around my chair multiple times ignoring me. Thanks for nothing Lev... you just set back the ADA (Americans with disabilities act) 34 years.

Justin G.

Yelp
On 3/25/24, I really wanted to go to my favorite restaurant in Estes Park (Dunraven Inn). But, I found out that it was closed for good. I was pretty bummed out, so I decided to go to the restaurant attached to the Stanley Hotel. I was staying there for the night. I got myself a wild game meatloaf and a lobster bisque. The lobster bisque was my starter. The cream was well made and flavorful. The soup came with lobster claw meat and crostini bread. It was expensive, costing $22. For my entree, I had a meatloaf made with bison, elk, and angus beef. It was wrapped with wild boar bacon. It was topped with brown gravy. It tasted very good. The bacon added even more flavor to it. My sides were whipped garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed broccolini. Both the sides were tasty as well. It was also expensive, costing $38. My bill was $65 in total. My waitress did a good job taking my order, and the food did come pretty fast. The dining area had the nice designs along with rest of the Stanley Hotel. Even though my food was quite tasty, I would have given my dinner 4/5 stars. The reason why my rating up top is only 3 stars is because I came back here later after my ghost tour to order a Coors Banquet beer. I sat the bar, and the bartender was very rude. She was stuck up, and had a terrible attitude to customers who didn't fit in with her clique. I originally had an open tab, but decided to pay for the one beer I ordered and left.

David H.

Yelp
Grilled octopus appetizer: 6 or 7 small strips of grilled oil/garlic octopus over garlic French fries. $55. Yup, fifty five dollars. That alone should justify the 3 stars. Then all of the cuts of beef were 7-16 ozs. We asked if there was any way to get a smaller cut. None of my companions wanted that much steak. We were told no. My wife then ordered a salad and then the server offered a 4 oz petite filet to go with the salad.. Almost like she wasn't going to offer that option hoping for the larger, pricier orders. My sea bass was tasty but $50 for a 2" cube. With tip we paid $130/person and 3 ppl got salads and one $15 drink each. We also split the lemon bar dessert. The place is nice but not THAT nice. Would not recommend unless you really have $ to burn. It was a pleasant meal. The $55 meal soured me for the first 30 minutes of our subsequent ghost tour, which was fun

Dawn R.

Yelp
We ordered the charcuterie board and the meat charcuterie board - because one didn't come with both. The weirdest boards we've ever received. Two small crostini's with a bowl of jelly, three VERY similar cheddar cheeses, unwashed grapes and a bowl of little peppers (?). The meat board had 4 or fewer small crackers. It's was so weird and expensive. Save your money. One item we ordered that was good was the $12 garden salad. Lobster bisque was fine, expensive for what it was. Hotel is cool to visit but save your tastebuds and $ and find somewhere else to eat. Pics were taken after we started, so they aren't the complete boards, but other than two crostini and a few crackers, this is pretty much what you're gonna get. Honeydew, cantaloupe, strawberries, a few blackberries, dirty grapes, sweet pickles, peppers (MANY), a few salamis (?) and oddly sized chunks of cheese. And Jelly. LOTS of jelly with no way to eat it.

Danielle R.

Yelp
We took a day trip up to the famous Stanley Hotel. It is beautiful. Stopped in to Cascades bar for a couple of cocktails. Of course had to try one of the signature drinks, Redrum punch. And it sure did pack a punch! Tropical but very strong, almost like a hurricane. Also tried a small shareable of crawfish spinach and artichoke dip. It was ok, but wish there was more crawfish. Not a huge food menu, but a VERY impressive liquor menu. If you are a whiskey and bourbon fan, you have got to check this out. Many rare varieties that you do not see often. Our bartender was attentive and there were two big tvs to watch Sunday football. We will certainly be back!

Andrew W.

Yelp
House salad was enjoyable but the meal went downhill from there. Entrees were very disappointing. The buffalo ribeye was tough and gristly, couldn't finish it. The halibut special was fishy and overcooked. Side carrots were undercooked and difficult to cut. Broccolini had no seasoning, we had to request some salt and lemon. Drinks were okay and the whiskey collection is extensive.

Richard M.

Yelp
I don't really understand the low star average of this place. The food is excellent and yes, the service is hit or miss. One has to understand that this is a resort town with seasonal staff and Estes is an expensive place to live. So it should be filtered through that lens. First the (huge) highlights: - This is perhaps the BEST whiskey selection in the state. They have very rare whiskeys from Scotland and Ireland and a very extensive list from Colorado. They have (finally) catalogued their whiskey and it is available in a menu. You can order their cocktails with whatever whiskey you prefer. And their bartenders are very knowledgeable with the local Colorado Whiskey. If you visit Colorado and are a whiskey fan - and you only have a limited amount of time - this is THE place. - The Elk/Bison Wild Boar Meatloaf. I am NOT a fan of meatloaf. But this is sublime. Honestly, the best I have ever had. Flavorful and just a touch of gaminess. It is a little pricey. The areas of improvement: - Yes, the wait staff is really hit-or-miss. We had a waiter one time that tried to describe the temperate of a burger stating that 'their medium well was really medium rare'. Dude. The menu does state that they only cook the burgers medium-well or well. Why is this such a tough concept? - You can't sit outside unless you are ordering lunch. OK - you got me. But Estes in the Summer is magical. You should have some outside bar seating. Over all - i would give this place a 4.5 star rating - but Yelp doesn't let me spit that hair. For me, the whiskey selection and the knowledge behind the bar puts this place on the 'MUST VISIT' category.

Mr. M.

Yelp
I will admit that the overall low rating for this place made me pause. Do not let it deter you. Our dinner and service was excellent. The bison ribeye was just what I needed. Some people have complained that they ordered medium or well and it came out more medium rare. That is because you are not supposed to cook bison steak medium or well. If you're going to be ignorant about how food should be cooked, then don't order the bison. I will tell you that it was perfectly cooked and mouthwatering. I was also surprised by how good the fingerling potatoes were. Sides for steak are usually boring as hell, but I could have eaten a whole plate of those simply delicious potatoes. Of course, their booze selection is impressive. I ordered a Paper Plane cocktail. If you are a fan of whiskey sours, you need to ask them to make you a Plane. Not too sweet, not too tart, and leaves room for dinner, since it is served up. Let's not forget the friendly and knowledgeable service. It made the whole experience that much more memorable. And to think that we almost drove somewhere else instead of going to this restaurant in our hotel. A perfect dinner in every way. Make reservations.

Yelp
The low rating this place has is criminal. Perhaps a few visitors were butthurt with the bill or maybe didn't get a reservation in time? Maybe someone's ex works here? I don't get it. Our experience was great. We spent 2 nights at The Stanley and had dinner here the second night before catching a show. We were promptly seated 10 minutes before our reservation by a great host. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. The bartender was great with mixed drinks. I ordered the elk meatloaf and my wife had a pasta dish that were both wonderful. For an appetizer we had the lobster bisque which had a great table presentation. It wasn't as sweet as most lobster bisque but was fantastic nonetheless.

Yelp
We didn't have reservations for dinner because it was our arrival day, so we found a spot at the bar in the whisky bar. The bar was filthy and the bartenders made no attempt to wipe up the mess. My husband ordered a whiskey Old Fashioned and I ordered a Chardonnay (wasn't in the mood for whiskey). The old fashioned was overly sweet and very small. The bartender informed me that they had one Chardonnay and no wine glasses and served my wine in a water glass!!! We were going to have dinner, but after watching the chaos behind the bar, decided against it, so glad we didn't eat there! Got the bill and my wine in a water glass was $27. Paid our bill and walked over to Post Chicken and Beer and had a delicious dinner with Great service!!!

Yelp
We were contacted by their reservations department and were told to make reservations well in advance as they book up rather quickly. Two weeks prior I made reservations, but it was not until the day before that many more slots became available to book. I was happy to find the exact time that we wanted, but I was a little concerned about the 3 stars.... As soon as we were seated, we were greeted right away and I will say that they do have an impressive whisky and wine menu. My husband really enjoyed having the option to choose rare whiskeys by the glass. For starters we chose the lobster bisque and while the presentation was aesthetically pleasing, the soup was just lukewarm and not hot which was a bit disappointing, however, the bisque was fantastic and had a good amount of lobster in it. I do not eat red meat or pork and while the menu did have one fish option along with impossible meatballs and chicken, it mainly centered around red meat choices. My husband went with the Angus filet while I chose the Colorado red trout. Previous reviews said the accompaniments of wild rice and grilled zucchini were not good, so I asked for a swap of asparagus and we shared a side of the whipped potatoes. My fish was a bit overcooked and I could not finish it , but the potatoes, asparagus, and steak were all good. The dessert choices were old school and typical and not worth the calories, so we declined. The main reason I am giving Cascades 2 stars is because we were staying in the main building and the next afternoon, I just wanted a side of fries to snack on and was told that they do not offer room service and they are not set up for orders to go! I was told that I could dine in the restaurant which I was not in the mood to do. I was not presented with any other options only to find out later that you can order food to go from Brunch & Co as well as The Post. If they are setup for to-go orders, why is Cascades not setup?!

Yelp
It was a fun tasty experience first off the ambience at the Stanley well...it's hard to beat on a crisp fall evening! The service was great as we had this incredible server who hailed from Romania, very cool guy! Ultimately the food was great, the selection interesting and the bourbon selection unparalleled!

Yelp
We went there for my 40th bday. The service was horrible, the food is so overpriced and tasted awful. They included a 25% gratuity on the bill. Where's the incentive for the servers to actually try? Do not eat here!!

Yelp
Horrible experience. Started with 2 drinks they didn't have but were on the menu. One of our steaks was overcooked: we had to track down our waiter as he never came back to check on our food. Then he disappeared again and the steak never came out for over 20 minutes when the rest of the party was done eating. Asked for a manager twice, first time they sent our waiter. Second time we were informed there was only a "shift manager". Asked for a salad to go instead of steak, served with no dressing. The offered free dessert- asked for one to go and that wasn't allowed. Asked for a specific type of whiskey- didn't have that, they brought old fashioneds that were way too strong to even drink. Overall a big disappointment that could have been avoided with a quick fixed steak.

Yelp
One of the worst restaurant ever been. Poor service, poor food. avoid at any cost. The ambient is nice specially outside. If you go for ambient and not for food and joy, go for this one.

Yelp
Enjoyed a midweek dinner during the MLB playoffs. Great service. Good food - could be hotter, but overall good.

Yelp
The service was excellent, the restaurant is beautiful, the food is awful. Don't waste your money. The meal was very expensive for food with no flavor. I also was sick the next day, which I believe was a result of what I had for dinner. Have a drink at the bar to enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant and have dinner at The Post instead.
