From the team behind Montreal’s beloved Vin Mon Lapin - meet the pandemic takeout fried chicken joint Casgrain BBQ! So glad I got to try it on this latest trip back home. Loved the spicy sourdough fried chicken sandwich - soooo crispy and juicy!! The oyster mushroom ‘popcorn’ was fun and awesome. As were the ‘domino potatoes’ (a bit reminiscent of potato pavé?) Would come back!

The mushrooms were my favorite thing. Girlfriend found the batter too thick though. The Domino fries are great and a nice idea. The salsa in the chicken sandwich (which I didn't love honestly) made the whole thing very soggy and pretty un-enjoyable towards the end. I'd probably have it again but not the chicken sandwich.

I have had a LOT of fried chicken in the Southern US and a lot of it has been famazing. Casgrain BBQ is right up in that top group. They deeply care about the quality of food they make. A can’t-miss menu item is the pleurottes. They’re mushrooms made like popcorn chicken. Actually ordered them by accident. Swooooon.

Fried chicken sandwich with jalapenos is the bomb. Definitely try the popcorn pleurotes with labneh dip and the maple syrup ice cream sandwich.

One of the best chicken burgers I’ve ever had, and a very friendly staff with a cool vibe interior. Will definitely be back!

On a commandé en livraison ce soir et quel bonheur! Juteux à souhait, fine panure, bel assaisonnement. La sauce gravy était incroyable et avait littéralement un goût de soupe. On a pris l’extra miel épicé et c’était parfait. On s’est aussi laissé tenté par le gâteau aux carottes et que dire... un pur délice. On a hésité à l’ajouter à notre commande comme on était que deux, mais finalement pas de regret! Ça a finit notre repas en beauté 👌

Casgrain BBQ is a temporary restaurant operating inside of Bar St-Denis. The menu is inspired by traditional Quebec rotisseries. I had two boxes of Sourdough Fried Chicken, which are comprised of 5 pieces of Chicken (white and dark meat), coleslaw, gravy, and a toasted bun as well as an excellent bottle of rosé (Wilde Rosé, Wijngaard Dassemus 2019) and a bottle of red. Everything was perfect, I'd probably add a little bit more flavour to the chicken but that's my personal taste, some people would love it as it is... other than that I would totally order again. Great job!

This restaurant completely exceeded my expectations for how delicious fried chicken can be. The quality of the actual chicken is immediately apparent; no doubt these are some healthy local birds. I was in a state of bliss after eating this meal. Perfectly crisp crunchy exterior on the fried chicken. The gravy is both decadent, refined, and essential to the full experience. The way the chicken is portioned in each piece is truly beautiful! Also, in my experience the 5-piece meal is enough for myself and my partner. Not the cheapest place to eat in the area but you're paying for quality.
