8 quirky things to do in Rome - SilverKris

"A striking, cartoon-like Swiss-style building within the Villa Torlonia complex, recently celebrated its centenary. Notable for its pervasive owl motifs that decorate both interior and exterior, it stands out as a playful, visually bold architectural anomaly amid Rome's more classical fabric." - SilverKris

Great stained glass. Beautiful house. Although it is rather overpriced, considering not that much of authentic things are saved in the building. Worth a visit if you are into Art Nouveau. And fyi the tickets have to be bought in another building, around 300 meters from the museum. Not very friendly.

I love to go there to walk with my cat in week days. Less amount of dogs(I love dogs but because of my cat I have to avoid high pollution of dogs as much as possible) Quiet and lost of birds. So many small trails that good for us to walk privately. Very lovely park.

The House of the Owls is a rather surprising Art Nouveau gem within Villa Torlonia, originally conceived as a rustic Swiss-style retreat by a rather eccentric member of the Torlonia family, later transformed into a fantastical residence filled with stained glass, decorative motifs, and intricate craftsmanship. Its owl-themed windows and rather eclectic architecture make it one of the most unusual small museums in Rome.

The Owl house, made in the style of a Swiss Cottage. It was nice to stroll through. It was filled with local recently created art work, but that didn't detract too much from the quaintness of the old home. I would recommend purchasing the multi-site entrance ticket (~€17) to be able to see all the buildings in the park.

Something a bit different from ancient Roman ruins and Renaissance places, this is a small, interesting and eccentric folly in a pleasant park setting. You have to go to a different building to buy tickets which was unnecessary. It was a little overpriced for the length of visit. It's pretty and the stained glass is nice, but a lot of the original items have been "lost". There are sketches and text descriptions but it feels a bit sparse, particularly the main owl room. If recreations were made so it was more like the original, this would be a more worthwhile visit.

This is one of the nicest Villa’s I’ve ever visited. It’s very unique architecture and design make it a really genuine place. It can be busy at times, the grounds are very well kept and maintained, there’s lots to see and do in and around this area. I really enjoyed my time here and I would definitely recommend checking it out.

One of my favorite places to visit, located just a little ways from downtown Rome. If you have the Rome MIC card you get in free. Beautiful stained glass windows, like a fairy tale house in the middle of Rome.
