Like traditional Spanish Spanish homes of the well-to-do, this casona ("mansion") shows a plain face to the street, but is an architectural delight inside the gates. Our junior suite was right off the main courtyard, so we could hear the burbling of its fountain, and sit outside enjoying the many orange trees. We loved the art in the room and in the public areas. Although beautifully refurbished from its 16th-century construction, the architects had made sure that the amazing rock-filled walls were left uncovered in some places. We were there off-season, so the restaurant and bar were not open for business, but the complementary breakfast (delicious and hearty) was available in a smaller dining room. The staff was wonderful, always attentive and ready to help. Our only complaint was that the mattress was too hard. We highly recommend the Casona.
