We’re on vacation and staying nearby at an Airbnb, and I randomly found this restaurant while browsing reviews online. The pumpkin ravioli was the best I’ve ever had; the ragu gnocchi was so hearty and filling; and the Milanese cutlet with a side of potatoes and vegetables was a great second course to round out the stellar pasta first courses. Our server was very kind and helpful, especially with navigating the language barrier. We were told by locals that this restaurant is very authentic; they were surprised that tourists found it! My only regret is that we didn’t discover this place sooner so that we could eat more ravioli before we leave Milan.

Lovely restaurant near Milan, the outside space is so dreamy. The food is GREAT! Service is a bit slow but nothing too concerning, just be prepared to wait a bit more than your usual Milanese restaurant. I promise the food makes it all worth it. Prices are fair.

To the staff of Casottel, Thank you for making our first night-out in Milan, the true experience of Italian hospitality. We where seated in their garden. The atmosphere was cozy and homely. The staff are very sweet and did their best to make us feel welcome, even-though we clearly was no expert in the Italian language. As we enjoyed our last course and wine, we where meet with a thunderstorm coming in, but we enjoyed the show from our table. Unfortunately we later found out the storm had destroyed part of the garden. We hope you can recover soon! At last, we want to thank the sweet Lady (co-owner?) who despite not speaking english, was concerned about the storm and wanted to follow us out with an umbrella. She melted our hearts, bless you! Thank you so much. Note: The food is the best, but the place is magical.

So I’ll just say this .. this was my wife and I last meal after spending 2 weeks in italy 🇮🇹 and have to say the most authentic meal we had the whole trip. The family greets you at the door and the service was excellent but more importantly the food was 100% on point. I got a real “home cooked “ vibe .. I recommend anyone who strolls through this little area come have yourself a really good meal. You may be surprised on the appearance of the outside of the building but don’t be fooled these folks are packing a lot of flavor in there dishes.

Good quality milanese food in a traditional family run place stuck in time. The food is prepared in the moment. Pasta, ravioli or cotoletta are good. The price is reasonable and the 89 yrs old owner extremely kind. It is clear that she has been running the place for 45 years with passion and love. Not easy to find if you don't know milano.

I wish I could give 4.5 stars, because I'd subtract a half a star for the fact that my risotto left something to be desired on my last visit... but I'll go five stars instead of four, since the personnel that operate Casottel, despite us not being to speak to each other, are absolute treasures! After my first visit, we barely were able to communicate what we wanted (and actually got something we didn't want... but were happy to, since it was delicious), but had such an incredible experience that we had to return the next two nights in a row. We'd arrived almost an hour before opening on our second night, but the lady of the house (the "nonna" everyone refers to, who cooks/runs everything) opened up for us and invited us to sit and enjoy an aperitif in the bar area while the kitchen was being prepped for the evenings service. She was just relaxing in the bar area herself, having a coffee and reading the newspaper. It was so kind of her to open for us and invite us in like this. The gentlemen who took our orders also got very friendly with us over our three visits and always touted to guests at surrounding tables that we were visiting from overseas (Canada), as if a proud relative. It's funny how much can be said without use of words... I really felt like I gained a family member or two upon these three visits to Casottel and will be sure to visit on every trip back to Milano! The food is incredible and deeply authentic Milanese. Every single item I had over those three visits was stellar, sadly save for the risotto on one visit, which was a bit dry- but still perfectly delectable. Sadly, the names of most of the dishes I had escape me since Italian is not my first language (and I've a bad memory), however, I'll be happy to be surprised on my next visits. We were even given a couple things complimentary since I could tell they wanted us to experience their best offerings- very kind gesture. Their deserts were just as good as the mains. Can't wait to visit again and will recommend this hidden gem to any friends visiting town and looking for an authentic dining experience.

One of the few places in Milan (even if it does not look like being in the city) that works as a kind of time machine, taking you back in time to what a real Trattoria used to be. Family owned is the trick! Good food and service, Heard wonders about the garden, but at the time I visited it was too chilly to eat there.

The most authentic cuisine alla Milanese. The chef is a real Italian grandmother, the interior is a throw back from the 1960s but the food is all traditional and the portions large. Do not overlook or underestimate this place. Signed a food snob from NY
