Deer Valley Resort Utah Ski Trip Guide

"A lavish seafood-focused dining option featuring a large station-style buffet for a fixed price (about $125) with offerings ranging from oysters and crab legs to paella and a poke bar, plus non-seafood selections like prime rib and roasted turkey; reservations are recommended." - Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel is a writer with more than eight years of experience editing and writing for both brands and online publications—with a particular focus on travel, fashion, and lifestyle. Had an absolutely divine experience here! My family and I have been going to the seafood buffet for years when we visit from New York, so glad to see it thriving again with a new name. Chele was our waitress and she was so attentive, kind and overall fabulous! The raw bar was so amazing with unlimited fresh oysters, shrimp and crab. There is a sushi station with poke bowls and the fish was so fresh!! The chefs at each station created special dishes that were out of this world. My family and I will be coming back!

Out of this world seafood restaurant!! Unlimited Kussi n Washington oysters?? They are usually $4 each everywhere else we go. Unlimited stone crab claws, unlimited everything. But it's not just your grandpa's Golden Corral buffet...everything was delicious! The pheasant with hatch Chili grits should be Michelin level. The clams, mussels, and other foods were all equally delicious. The desserts bar is out of this world! If I lived closer, id dine here weekly, no joke. Love it, keep up the tradition Cast & Cut!

We genuinely don't understand the bad reviews. We LOVE Cast and Cut! We've been back twice in the past 2 months and we would be back more if our schedule allowed. The highlight from our most recent trip was the poke station which my husband went back to 3 times! I personally LOVED pan seared (I forget what it was, some kind of poultry) but it was served with cheesy hatch chile grits that were DIVINE!!! My husband and son love seafood whereas I don't eat seafood at all but they have a great variety of options so, even though I don't like seafood, I still leave there completely bursting I'm so full!!! The service and ambiance was also really great.

Our experience at Cast & Cut was top notch. The service was absolutely amazing, especially Chele. Chele and staff truly made this feel like a unique dining experience. The food was amazing with great portions that let you sample all the amazing options. What a unique experience that we can't wait to repeat.

Nice to have the seafood buffet back after 4 years. Almost everything was outstanding. The biggest standouts were the station with tuna and salmon poke and ceviche. Absolutely outstanding! The raw bar is also fantastic. A new addition from the previous version of the seafood buffet (pre covid) was the giant pan of paella which was awesome- tons of flavor with the saffron rice, bacon and sausage, and clams and mussels. Only disappointment was the carving station, where the brisket was a miss. It was slightly dry and did not match the quality of everything else. Would’ve preferred a more premium cut, both because Deer Valley seafood buffet is the definition of premium, and the $125 price tag should mean 10/10 across the board. The turkey was much better- moist and flavorful…but having read that some other diners on other nights had leg of elk, that would’ve been a more interesting option. Service was warm and attentive, ambience is pleasant, and overall it was a great evening. I will say the $3 fee to make a reservation was really disappointing, on principle. Obviously it’s a drop in the bucket compared to the $125 (+ tax/tip) to dine here, but it felt like an unnecessary and inappropriate fee. By all means, require a deposit for a reservation, but a straight up fee? Seemed unnecessary. I’d still recommend coming for a special occasion if you can swing it, price wise. Come hungry!

I was truly hoping for more atmosphere. The menu features some great choices, but the space was too voluminous to create any intimacy and the waitstaff is dressed in jeans with a plaid flannel shirt - which completely throws out the "fine dining" concept. My husband chose the Salmon, which was too rich with butter that he couldn't finish it. I enjoyed the Elk Chop, which was delicious. The Brussel sprouts were also quite good.

Don't throw away your money. We came here for Christmas dinner. I mistakenly ignored the low rating because so many of the 1 star reviews for more focused on silly things like the wait staff not dressed nice enough and because the old Seafood buffet was excellent. Big, expensive mistake. The hot food was cold or luke warm. The sushi was one step above grocery store. The lobster bisque looked and tasted like gravy. We eat out a fair amount, but we never spend as much as we did on this dinner, and it was one of most disappointing meals of my life. The wait staff were wonderful but the food was a massive disappointment.

Decided based on an Instagram post to take my wife here for her birthday. Though we were the first ones there, they sat us in the worst table in the place. That was just the start. At this price point, you expect good food and some ambiance. We had 3 sample sized dishes (not generous with portions at all) it was all barely warm and bland in taste. We left after less than an hour of being there, and it ruined what was supposed to be a great night out.
