Cast Iron Tavern

My daughter and I spent the day in evergreen enjoying the mountains. We decided to have dinner in Golden. Tried to find a dog friendly restaurant and cast iron tavern is the place we decided upon! The moment we walked in the hostess greeted us and knew we wanted to sit outside she was very apologetic that the heaters weren’t out. But she sat us near the fire pit! The atmosphere was perfect. We ordered the pesto deviled eggs. What a beautiful mixture of flavors. I’ll always make mine this way! I had the candied bacon burger. It was amazing but the show stopper was the sweet potato fries! oh my gosh. You MUST try them. Do yourself a favor and go to CIT for an amazing meal.

I’ve never been here but have heard about this restaurant! While my shrimp and grits LOOKS great, it wasn’t. I pulled out maybe 10 burnt roasted garlic pods that unfortunately ruined the dish for me but the shrimp was also overcooked, so rubbery texture. The atmosphere of the restaurant was amazing; I wish my dish had been better. For $27.50, I expected better. Now my husband had one of the burgers and really liked it.

Cast Iron Tavern is truly our go to place. The food is always excellent, the service is warm and attentive, and the atmosphere makes you want to stay a little longer. Every visit is consistently amazing, which is why we keep coming back again and again.

This place was packed on a Saturday night! We were able to join the wait-list before we arrived, which helped. When we got there, we realized it was the start of restaurant week so not sure that had anything to do with it. They are participating with a select 3 course menu for $35. Had the pear salad, ratatouille and bread pudding as part of that and all were delicious especially their famous bread pudding (and usually I don't like bread pudding). My boyfriend had the salmon risotto which was phenomenal. Cocktails looked nice too but have to come back for those. I can't believe I didn't know this place existed when I lived within walking distance but I'm glad I know about it now!

Ash took great care of us for lunch. Food was a good price point, delicious, and the atmosphere was chill enough to relax.

Everything about our visit was amazing! One of the best espresso martinis I’ve ever had. The Barada and beet appetizer hit the spot. A friend ordered the deviled eggs, which is not something I would usually get, but I’m so glad he did because they were delicious. I also had the cast-iron chicken which was to die for. The vibe and the service were 10 out of 10. To top it off, I love supporting a locally owned business.

The food was outstanding! I had the chicken & bacon mac, delicious! One of my friends ordered the ribeye, cooked to perfection. The candied bacon is a must! There have been reviews about it being kind of pricey, but I think the prices are very fair considering the quality of food and portion sizes. Great beers on tap too!

I would recommend to call and make a reservation ahead of time due to this being a popular spot. The food was amazing! It was presented to us beautifully along with being well flavored. I would recommend this place for a casual date night or dinner with friends.

Ok, we have a new favorite burger spot. Wow. Had the tavern burger with American cheese done to medium perfection and it's the best burger I've had in awhile. It was huge so we shared that. Service was awesome, super polite and quick. Aperol spritz type cocktail was delicious! Space is a little tight because the spot is busy and popular for a Saturday night. It didn't bother us at all. In fact it seemed like many patrons were locals and or loyals which made it feel like we were in on a secret.

Fantastic vibe, service, and food! We had the braise beef mac cheese bowl and candied bacon burger. My wife wanted to lick the mac cheese bowl it was so tasty. The burger was cooked perfect medium and was one of the best I ever had. Waitress was attentive and working hard for every table. Great job! Highly recommend

Had lunch here today and found it to be clean, open, and accommodating. Our burgers were very tasty, fries were good, and our grand girls loved the corn dogs. I would suggest ditching the ceramic bowls which hold in heat to the proverbial red plastic baskets to serve the food meant for kids so the food can cool off quicker. Our waitress was very kind and very attentive. The restaurant was more of a sports bar than fine dining, but kinda what we expected.

We arrived for lunch with 4 adults and two children. We were greeted warmly and quickly. I think it took them less than 5 minutes to set up our table. The waitress arrived shortly after being seated and was helpful with providing information and suggestions. Our drinks arrived quickly and the were wonderful. We ordered our food and it arrived shortly thereafter. The cheese curds were perfectly coated and cooked to perfection. When my sandwich arrived you could see steam rising from the plated.I was impressed that any staff walking by the kitchen grabbed what was ready and took to the tables. The food was well prepared and sauced perfectly. Great atmosphere. Wonderful staff!

Was in for our first time today and overall had a good expierence. The atmosphere is rustic and divey. They have a good menu and great happy hour choices. I got the Ruben and I thought it was mediocre for being $17, but my husband had the hot wings and they were delicious. Our waitress was kind and attentive! One waitress however, was extremely rude to me when I asked for the WiFi password due to the poor cell service. One thing that really stood out to me though was how dirty their air vents were right above our table (there are balls of dust that just blow in the wind when the ac is on) and how much built up dust was on every blade of every fan. This is an easy fix, but should be addressed as it is pretty noticeable and gross.

After I finished a month long outdoor survival and navigation course our instructor recommended a pint here. I thought the ambiance and food was really good. Service was friendly and efficient. I will definitely come back

This place is a hidden gem!!! I don't take much time to leave reviews and I couldn't leave this place out. The food was AMAZING and that's an understatement by far. The server was fantastic. Everything was on point. You have to try this place. The locals are very fortunate to have this in their backyard. We'll be driving an hour to come here again.

A very pleasant find close to where we were staying in Denver. The service was perfect. The server, whose name I forgot to ask, was very nice, and attentive to our large group. The food not only tasted great, it was also expertly presented, and tasted great. I would certainly come back the next time I am in town.

Food was great and the service was excellent. We will be back. They were very nice to work with us when we had a change with our number of diners!

I cannot say enough good things about Cast Iron Tavern. The service was very fast and so incredibly friendly! They quickly put together some tables for our large group since a booth wouldn't have worked for all in our party. Clean with attentive staff. Everyone enjoyed their food. We did an appetizer of cheese curds which weren't over breaded and were nice and hot! I had the candied bacon BLT which had a nice balance of sweet and heat. The fries were tasty and the honey mustard for dipping was very nice. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Golden!

Oh, boy, where do I even start with the Cast Iron Tavern in Golden, Colorado? This place is a real treasure, and I'm not just talking about the gold rush history of the town! So, my wife and I strolled into this joint with hunger in our hearts and a craving for some good ol' comfort food. And let me tell you, the Cast Iron Tavern did not disappoint! First off, let's talk about their hot chicken - we ordered just one, thinking we'd have to duke it out over who gets the bigger half. But guess what? They actually split the plate for us! Now, onto the drinks. The Old Fashioned and Bloody Mary were like the dynamic duo of the beverage world, swooping in to rescue us from the daily grind. I'm pretty sure they have magical powers because after a couple of sips, all our worries seemed to vanish. Maybe it's the altitude in Golden, or maybe it's just their secret recipe - either way, we were happy campers. In a nutshell, Cast Iron Tavern, you've won our hearts and our taste buds. We left with full bellies, big smiles, and a new appreciation for hot chicken diplomacy. So, if you find yourself in Golden, make a beeline to this place. It's a solid 10 out of 10, and I'm already planning my next visit! Cheers

Ate there on Saturday. Golden is a quaint little town with a big college presence. Food was good....mushroom burgers... yumm. The candied bacon sandwich had lots of candied bacon so if you like a lot of hard crunchy really sweet bacon, this is for you.... It wasn't for me.... Service was slow but otherwise good!

By far the best meal my wife and I have had since we arrived. My wife had the prime rib and I had the ribeye both were cooked to perfection with fantastic flavor. Just the right mix of fat for flavor the creamy horseradish sauce was perfect and the house made steak sauce was great we even combined them and found a new flavor that just added another level for both our meals. The service was top notch great drink selection you just can't go wrong. (Sorry the photo after we started to eat it just smelled so good we couldn't resist)

Food was great - beef brisket was so tender and flavorful. The burger was solid as well, fries good! They have a decent beer selection and the overall vibe of the place was laidback / nice-casual with games on the TV's...a good mix of people (families with young kids, older couples, mid-20's groups of friends). Only thing not great was the service... definitely wasn't bad but after we got our food if we wanted something we had to flag our waitress down.

A surprising treat! We were walking by, saw a good sized crowd and decided to try it. We just missed happy hour and I've we saw the happy hour menu understood why it was crowded. Great prices, good food. We sat outside as it was a bit loud inside and we're immediately greeted by an energetic waitress. A beer, cider and delicious spicy margarita. A 65+ man in our group want too hungry and was happy to order a small burger off the kids' menu instead of a 1/2 # burger. We all were thrilled to steal a perfectly cooked French Fry. The burrata/butternut squash appetizer was amazing huge. I ordered the butternut squash/apple salad -yummy. A bit too heavily dressed, but I would order it again on the side. We had the bread pudding... all of us shared that one of the sauces on it wasn't our favorite, but the bread pudding part and whipped cream (a bit pricey) were great. We will definitely return!

Found was great, Mel is awesome, fun atmosphere! Went to this restaurant never having heard about it. Easy location and parking. Delicious food and service.

Had dinner here at my last day in Golden. Had to make reservations because two night earlier, we could not get in without waiting at least an hour. We arrived for our appointment time , it was a very short wait. Like the fact you can see the kitchen but when we arrived, the bar was full , while waiting I noticed the floors were sticky and not clean ( the space we waited was actually used as a place to prep drinks and get tables ready, the food was great and it's the place you need to come for a steak. It was huge and looked very tasty! Had the Reuben which was great, a bit salty but that sauerkraut made up for it! So good with sweet potato waffle fries. My husband had a burger. Very small restaurant that tries to fit in a bar, when the weather is warm , I'm sure they make up for tight quarters. Go, it was good but avoid the sticky floor by the door....

I was really surprised that this didn't have a solid 5-star rating. There were three of us, and we were seated immediately, the food came very quickly, the hostesses and the manager were great, very responsive, and the price was as expected (less than 20 bucks a person all in) and the food was delicious. One thing, it is crowded. The tables are a little close together, so if that bugs you, you may have an issue. Otherwise, I highly recommend.

Girls night out found us at this fun spot in Golden. All the food was excellent. The reason for 3 stars is how disappointing the martinis were....watered down. Couldn't even taste the vodka in a straight vodka martini.

I ordered food for pickup, I went in and the place looked amazing and fun! Loved walking in I could feel the vibes just flowing. The food was absolutely amazing I got a CBLT or a candied bacon with lettuce and tomatoes. It was so good. Every bite had goodness in it, The Mac n cheese was great and so were the mashed potatoes. Overall a wonderful place with quick service and caring waiters. Totally recommend to anyone!

This has become one of our regular spots for dinner. Haven't had a bad dish yet. If you're a burger & rings fan, you must try this one!

The prime rib sandwich on Sundays is as good as it gets. The owner/chef is always there and that keeps the quality control high. Kudos

Best veggie burger patty I've ever tasted. My husband appreciates the beer menu options and my kid was pleased as well. A pleasant surprise.

Great food, cocktails and service. We stopped before going to Red Rocks for a couple of shows. Food was great. Servers were fantastic. Met one of the owners, great guy. Please give them your business.

Probably the best burger I have had in a very long time. Little pricey, but damn good food. Every single person in our party said it the food was amazing.

Starting with the beautiful flowers and lights in the patio, this place was very welcoming. Our server was Janae and she was so aware, connected, and responsive... but all the servers took care of us. The food was incredible and quick! We had a squash and apple salad and pastrami sandwich. Definitely get the waffle cut sweet potato fries! And the drinks were awesome! They have yummy non alcoholic options too but I got The Bees Knees gin/lavender and it looked and tasted like summer. Excellent experience!

Our favorite date night or place to take friends from out of town. Awesome food and drinks, the Mac and cheese dishes are TDF!

Wow, all of these reviews, and nobody understands that the common denominator is the owners girlfriend/wife. She is rude, she is unwelcoming, and I guess she's jealous of every girl that walks in there. Every Saturday we do a girls lunch. We were quite fond of the cast-iron grill. Unfortunately, we were chased off and told to never come back. But she did follow that up with Have a nice day. Luckily, we have so many friends that used to come there. We have made sure they will not return. Anybody reading this, the Mexican restaurant next-door is amazing, and they're nice. Good luck in bankruptcy.

First of all, the food was delicious!! Had burgers and they are big, juicy, overall super pleased!! Fries were phenomenal as well. Food came out quickly. Accommodated a large group; however the only reason for not giving 5 stars, the hostess was incredibly rude and annoyed we could not give an EXACT number. We were there as a team, so we knew close within about 5 people. I get it, a larger group isn't the easiest, but there was plenty of room, and being so rude to two separate people with our group was truly not necessary. Waitress was was nice. Drinks were not refilled, which is also disappointing when you pay so much for that. Overall though, good food, some service aspects have opportunities.

Good food. Service friendly. Entree came our way too quickly after appetizer. We were literally still eating the half dozen wings we shared when our Cuban and pulled pork sandwiches showed up at the table. I would wait to put in your entree order.

They've got a fun menu and everything we tried was delicious. The iced tea and sodas were GIGANTIC, which we considered a plus. The deviled eggs and blackberry crème brûlée are must trys!

We always have a great dinner and the service is always quick and friendly. We love the food choices and the specials. I love the short ribs.

The Cast Iron was recommended on Yelp and I see why. The waitstaff was so kind and very accommodating. Our party of 11 was seated immediately. The waitress gifted us some beer samples. The beers were cold and tasty. The burgers were outstanding! The whole restaurant was a vibe. So glad we tried it while in Golden!

I always book a reservation if possible and the place was hoping on a Sunday evening so I'm glad I did. It was a little loud but we were seated in a booth along the back wall which I would request again. It put us a bit further from the noise. Service was attentive but not rushed. We started with Deviled eggs and the candied bacon which were delicious. I had the roasted squash salad which I thoroughly enjoyed. Other hits were the burgers and short rib mac and cheese. We were enjoying ourselves so much we stayed for bread pudding and coffee to top it all off. We'll be back!

One of our favorite lunch spots in the Denver area! My husband and I popped in with our dog for a week day lunch before exploring downtown Golden. I was happy to see that we were one of three tables seated outside with pups! Very dog friendly restaurant with a provided water bowl. My husband's burger and fries were epic! Lots of flavor and huge portions which is great for a big, tall guy. I got the pork chili which was one of the best things I've ever eaten. Very unique flavor profile, creamy, and filling. Unfortunately, my blackberry salad was rather flavorless. The berries themselves didn't have much flavor and neither did the blackberry vinaigrette. Definitely needed some vinegar.

Owner or manager is horrible and mean & crude.We waited for service for 25 minutes and the waitress was taking everyone else's order. They said that's the best they could do instead of apologizing ... nasty people. Bad service. Can't say the food was good cause they didn't come around to us. But it was expensive for food so I would rather spend money for those prices at STK because I'm sure it would be better food and service than that horrible awful service. I would not recommend. We are Mexican and I believe it was racism because they literally served everyone else before us even though we sat down first. Grotesque. I'd love to see what the owner responds with. She seems like the type to write me back on here and tell me how wrong I am to save face.

The owner canceled our reservation because we said we would wait for a booth. This escalated in less than 2 min after we arrived 30 min early for a reservation made on OpenTable. I am 60+ years old and have never had a problem like this in a restaurant. Not sure why she thought it would be bad for them if we spent more money by waiting. I would not ever recommend this restaurant. Go to the Buffalo Rose instead where we were welcomed with a smile.

Just happened to be in Golden and found this on Yelp. The atmosphere was very loud. It was so loud it was difficult to have a conversation. The service was excellent. The waitress was very attentive and so nice. The food was amazing! I had the chicken Mac, and it was literally the best Mac & cheese I've ever eaten. We also have the fried mozzarella as an appetizer which was delicious. If it wasn't for the noise, this would be a 5, but I still highly recommend this spot!

The different Mac and cheese options are so good, hard for me to stray from those! And they are always on time with the order when we have opted for to-go food.

We were looking for a great burger and fries in or close to Golden and boy did we find it!!!! My wife had the bacon burger(and not just ANY bacon - candied bacon) and fries while I had a Rueben and fries. BOTH were above average - for sure. The burger was cooked perfectly as ordered... well balanced seasoning and awesome bacon. Very good. We both thought the fries were very good too. That perfect crispy with a lite coating of ??? - not sure. Again, perfectly seasoned and very good. My pastrami Reuben was awesome. Fabulous dressing, great pastrami and I'm now a BIG fan! Combine that with a nice beer selection, great service and a nice interior seating and bar area with a nice patio and I'm a believer!!!!! Highly recommended if your in the mood for a great burgers and other food options combined with a very nice experience!!

I should have got pictures!! YUM I enjoyed an exceptionally Hot Pastrami Ruben sandwich. My sandwich was grilled on swirly rye bread, & piled Mile high with pastrami, kraut & oozing cheese, & dressing. I could only eat 1/2 at the time. I had my choice of sides, & ordered steak fries that were delicious. I SAVED ROOM FOR DESSERT, and indulged in a mass quantity of the BEST bread pudding I have ever had. I never expected the eloquence it was served. An UBER large bowl that was garnished with cinnamon, powdered sugar, a creamy glaze, & topped with whipped cream. My partner kept taking spoonfuls of it too! Holy Moly. This food was over the top. There is a great happy hour, daily specials, really comfortable atmosphere, plenty of staff, and the owner Bob was also onsite, and in sight with his sleeves rolled up diving in & sharing responsibilities. What a great leader. The staff were all happy, and I noticed a lot of effortless team work. Bathroom was tip-top clean, & fresh. 5 of 5 stars and I can't wait to go back!!!!! Hands down the best BLT I've ever eaten. It's in a convenient location off the main drag of Golden, and we randomly stopped in for a late lunch. The candied bacon that made up the BLT was mouthwatering. Fries crisp and flavorful, the other orders looked fantastic. Certainly a bar where the chef knows what they're doing. Great service too.

New menu is awesome! Burgers are still the best anywhere. Go! Go! Especially for Wednesday fish fry!

I'm sorry but the takeout crème brûlée was an embarrassment. Is this what it was supposed to look like? It was literally two bites in this container and awful presentation. I'd recommend not offering this for takeout if this is how it comes. I was very confused. I will say the rest of the food we ordered tasted good. The salmon on my salad was a pretty small piece as well for the cost. I'm hoping the dine-in experience is better.

Everything we had was delicious and the waitress, despite serving many tables on a Saturday night, was pleasant and helpful. But the best part? The Crème Brulee. We always order Crème Brulee for dessert, have had it all over the world, and this was the very best. Seriously. Thanks Chef!
